IIRC, EA has the rights to make V8 Supercars videogames, but it's been years since they've made a game. I think a few GTP members from Down Under can help us out on this. But as far as I know, the cars and tracks have also been used in some of the Codemasters videogames in recent years as well.

I'm pretty sure that Codemasters had all the rights to V8 Supercars in videogames. After all the TOCA series in Australia was called V8 Supercars, as well as being called DTM in Germany...Plus TOCA is the only game I can recall of featuring a proper race series from V8 Supercars.

I see. Any idea of Codemasters still has the rights at this time?

Well now PD has ties with Ferrari, how about A1GP? Built by Ferrari..

Other than that, Simbin hold FIA GT and WTCC licenses so I dont think we would see those. But certainly LMS and ALMS. Super GT, DTM, the VLN Nurburgring stuff, Im certain we will see some Nurburgring endurance cars this time. Even stuff like the Mini Challenge would be great fun with the new bigger fields.

werent simbin goin to make a console version of FIA GT??? im sure there was a trailer out for it.

If not they why dont they give eg exclusive rights to PS3 to make a console version of the game/??💡

To add to your post...Here is the grid for the 1989 Le Mans 24

Lancia, Porsche, Nissan, Toyota, Mazda, Sauber Mercedes, Jaguar, Aston Martin, March and others were all there!

Man, I hope people understand when they ask for damage, that's going to be what they'll get. Look how many cars didn't finish for whatever reason. Car fires, accidents, etc.

I don't know how often people expect to finish a real race if the damage/car malfunctions are accurate in GT5.

Maybe it's an idea to have special add-ons for race series.
Even with the big library GT5 is going to have, not all the cars will be in it.
Now if you have add-ons for a small prize, you could pick the race series you like and you would only have to pay for that.
+ they don't have to complete those cars when GT5 comes out, they can still work on them after the release.

That's what i've been saying all along. A minor shunt and it's over. Atleast at Le Mans a tow truck will take you to the pits (until the final hour) but in sprint racing......it's over.

-> I usually don't agree with too much racing liveries in GT. It will definitely lose its true essence as the driving simulator that I've loved for the past 10 years of playing GT. :dopey:

-> As a vehicle wish list fanatic, it *kinda* bores me to add specific race cars and their liveries, it drives me dizzy. But among those race cars, I like those race cars without liveries (aka. Plain Bodies, Test Cars, Prototypes, etc.) like these ones:

997 GT3 Cup

Lancer Evolution X JWRC

L200 Evolution Prototype

Corvette C6.R Test Car

^ I know, know its 'kinda' same as the ones that you see on TV or in real life. But I'd rather make my own liveries from scratch then having it on my car as it is, it turns me off. :)

If im honest, that feature in Forza was kinda silly. You had guys with a Mclaren F1 with Hello Kitty all over it.

I found it cool for the guys that could replicate actual race liveries but the "fancy paint jobs" like Halo or GOW was pushing it. I saw that the liveries are sometimes as famous as the car.

Take the BMW art cars and the endless streak of tobacco marks that are part of teams.

Ferrari's F1 team is Scuderia Ferrari Malboro and West was part of Mclaren for like 10 years.

I say keep the liveries as they add an important element.

Yeah, PD should allow you to choose different racing liveries that excist/excisted in real life! For example if you have a BMW M3 E30 in GT5 (if it is included) you could choose between different liveries that this car actually had under it's years.

Examples:

Correct..... Why not when you buy/win a car not be able to choose the race livery you prefer.

For instance.....GT500 cars. If i win a GT500 Z33...Let me pick the scheme instead of forcing it.

I remember in GT3 days i spent 3 hours (i swear on this) i had to do the save load trick to get a RED lupo cup. Rediculous ....Just let me pick the color.

Jagermeister FTW!

Surprisingly I don't think anyone mentioned D1. With D1 cars already in previous GT's I don't see why a D1 series wouldnt be in gt5. More drift cars would be killer!

Would be cool to have more formula cars and lemans racers in it:
Maybe a Formula category or so...?

-F1 (needs license but would be cool)
-F1 hystoric cup
-GP2
-Formula Renault
-A1GP
-IRL

-Porsche lemans cars! :P

*dreams away*

You forgot the most important formula series!!!

Formula D! :embarrassed:

Drifting is a fad of the past but i'd love to see some original D1 GP cars to appear.

Like the Team orange cars and the HKS altezza, APEXI RX7, and this....

Actually difting is the fastest growing motorsport in America. Might be a fad to people who dont even like racing but it is not a fad for people who go out and do it for real. It is a real hobby just like grip racing.

Speak for yourself, fadboy.

Sorry been there done that. I got out of it around late 2005 and so have most of my friends. I got more fun driving auto crossing a civic eg hatchback than my 300zx. Now i have an STI that can attack corners and im a member of the scca.
Ill tell you what, i never doubt anyone in their interest of driving. Whether you drive, drift, drag or whatever just enjoy it. I've tried all 3 and there's nothing like going through a corner hitting the apex and having that planted feel as you accelerate out. The reason i wrote that is cause even though Drift atlanta takes place here.....no ones excited the way we were back in 2004 and 2005.

Im waiting for the next SCCA road atlanta track day. Nothing like racing actual cars around the track. :dopey:

Im not a member of SCCA however I have certainly tracked and autocrossed my car. Drifting is just as big a part of my interest of motorsports as grip racing. Just another facet of which to control and learn your car. I don't really watch professional drifters but rather do it as a personal hobby, and have for quite some time now. Just because you have lost interest in drifting doesn't mean it is a fad for everybody. Tell that to the people who have been into drifting for 10+ years and is practically the only form of motorsport they like.

I hope they make it possible to choose NOT to drift and/or rally and/or griprace in GT5! I´m sick of the driftingdeal to be honest, and allthough rallying is fun IRL, the GT franchise is not very good at replicating it. At least not so far.
I do like gripracing though, but like I said, it would be great if there was a choice!
Some people don´t want to race around La Sarthe for 24 hours and some people don´t want to drift around a track, when it´s much faster just driving it.

Well the nice things is you have to do all :P (hopefully)
Just do what you like and its okay then isnt it?

I think the biggest reason that drifting has lost interest is actual events. 3 times already there was supposed to be a local drift day so my friends get their cars ready. Than we get there and find out it's only a demo of pro drifters.....its not an amatur thing the way it used to be.

3 yrs ago they would close down turner field's parking area for an all day drift and entrance fee was $70. People from georgia, florida, bama, and tenessee all showd up. If drifting is your thing then more power to ya. It's just i oppose all forms of street racing and all the current (post Tokyo Drift) people are no different than street racers and could care less about being safe at the track.

Gives us legal track guys a bad image:grumpy:

^ What you are trying imply here is wrong on your statement there. I am NOT talking about body paint customization as you exagerrately stated. :ouch:

-> What I mean is as you progress in career mode (I hope), you will earn 'real sponsors' in your own right. Not just by putting Godzilla's face on your Chevy Aveo. :indiff:

Ok...i think i see what your saying.

Take a raw body and then get the option to paint a racing livery on it.
Ok that makes sense...... i like that actually. Good idea!

Chevy aveo + godzilla. rep if i could lol

Well, no, actually not! If the gaming is anything like GT4, you´re going to have to complete things, to get to the next level! Also, prizecars are won in the rallying part aswell, and some of those I actually want! Well, if one can live without those cars (download instead?), the entire "special conditions" hall can actually be skipped.
So basically I hope that a "drift hall" comes separately (preferably all the prizecars are driftcars and other tunercars, wich I also avoid as much as possible), so I can skip it and go for the endurance races instead!
More Le Mans cars! Group 5, Group c, GTP, LMP1, LMP2, GT1, GT2! Thats what gets me going in the racing world!

I hope there is indeed a "drift hall" and that endurance races are unlocked at 80% so you have to finish everything else first. :P I mean once endurance is opened up then everyone starts the b-spec cash flow and I would like to earn my money fairly by gameplay so it has a more real value to it....

Yeah, me too, but I actually drive all the endurances myself! If b-spec is going to any work for me in GT5, it will be the entire drift section...

I would like to see that all sections are open from the beginning, so that we do have a choice to skip things.
Seeing that GT4 was a pretty big game, I do assume that GT5 will be even bigger, so jumping things would not be so bad IMO.

True, with the exception of Endurance. Of course you will need the required license to compete but otherwise I don't see why not.

I'm normally not one to care about real racing series in a game that doesn't drive or market on real racing series. Not even the Super GT (JGTC) cars are highlighted to a severe degree. I'm going to bring up a series that I would probably be okay seeing as I'm working on...

...Formula Nippon.

I wouldn't mind Formula Nippon, and I'll tell you why. I've raced the Formula Nippon mod for rFactor. I've underrated the speed of these cars. I never realized how fast and quick these cars are. They are almost like Japan's own GP2 series. In fact, placing 3rd in the points in two successive years can win you a chance to get your FIA Super License to compete in Formula One (or so I read). Japan has some challenging race tracks from what I've seen in videos and played in games. Trust me. These cars are very quick and even agile.

If it were still up to me, I'd focus on the American Le Mans Series as a sportscar racing fan. Ferrari Challenge would really spice up Ferraris in GT5. Other than that, this game isn't about real racing series and real drivers, so I couldn't really care about any real series in a game that doesn't feature any real series. It's just my opinion based on experience with the game. I'm sure most of you think I'm an anti-Christ to anything suggestive of real racing series in a series not about real series. If you're one of those that want to punish me for not being serious about real racing series in Gran Turismo, go ahead and take your shots at me. Well, I'm waiting...

I´m pretty much on your side here, John. I actually wouldn´t want real racing series in GT5, I´d just like to have the cars from a few series! That is the way PD have done things in the past, so I have my hopes for this to happen on a larger scale than previously.
And what do I want? Le Mans, FIA GT and Le Mans series cars of course!
