I'm very frustrated and my lack of interest has show in my race preparation and on track performance

I think this version is pretty much a demo. There are so many inane things in this release it's almost unbelievable. PD/Sony wanted to stick to a release date, threw this turd at us, and 8-10 monthes out the "real" game may come. I'm sure most of the effort is going to GT7/PS4 release at this point. Without the online component (which is prett much garbage too) this game would be dead IMO.

I believe pd knows its junk for them to drop the price to 39.99 and give a million dollars credits to new copies. I know iracing is expensive but at least there you have a fair shake in my mind anyway. I'm only on gt6 due to the friends I have made which make it worth while to stick around.

I think I'm equally unhappy with sony right now. A lot of empty promises with the ps4. I've actually boxed mine up and put it away since January. Only positive is the free games for the ps plus, but they are all for ps3.

And Killer is 100% correct. If it weren't for all you guys I race with in GT6 I wouldn't bother with it.

yeap

I will participate with this new series , it will be good to race you guys again , I won't pile on gt to much but I will say iracing is all I wanted it to be and more , the PC part can be done very cheap . If mine blew up I wouldn't mind just playing on my older PC, point being a super PC is not needed , the content is pricy . But it doesn't have to be . Find your car and be happy ( ruff ) . Anyways I do miss this group , a lot d bags playing iracing . Not you three obviously

So.....what I'm gathering is that instead of PS4 and GT7, I should go PC and i. Mike, what did your setup cost? And how much is the buy in to i? And is there a reoccurring charge?

Also, I don't want to put anything together, make anything talk to something else, read something else or get along with something else. I don't want to use DOS or Lynux either. Plug and play only. So how much is a plug and play. And, can I use a regular TV?

Im running Iracing on a HP laptop and have my 40 inch tv with hdmi cable to it. G27 Wheel that I use on GT6.
The price of the iracing is I believe 99 dollars a year or there is other payments you can use like monthly or 3 months at a time. Each track costs 14.95 and the cars cost 11.95 apiece. Which kinda sucks because if you buy the gen 6 chevy for 11.95 you then have to buy the Ford if you want to run it. But as much as you pay to play the game once you buy the car and track its yours. The racing is very tough if you get it don't give up in the rookie class the racing is very good in the higher ranks just stay out of trouble to get through the rookie class. I don't know how hard it was for the other guys but my oval series was quick Im a Class A rating, but my road course on the other hand ive been working hard to get better but only a Class C rank. It will possibly take you a month or maybe longer to get to there rating.
Hope this helps alittle.

JT, I'm not going to lie. iRacing can be very expensive if you let it be. You can find discounted memberships when signing up for 50% off or even a free 3 month trial if the promotion is still running. The membership can pay for itself during the year. Each season you can receive up to $10 iRacing credits. There are 4 seasons in a year. So yeah, you can receive $40 a year for racing and having run.

Content received with membership.
Cars: MX-5 Cup, MX-5 Roadster, Solstice, Spec Racer Ford, Street Stock, Cadillac CTS-V, Legends 34 Coupe
Track: Charlotte Motor Speedway (oval and road layouts), Lanier Speedway, Laguna Seca, Okayama, Oxford Plains Speedway, South Boston, Summit Point, Thompson International Speedway, USA International Speedway, Lime Rock Park

No need to buy new content as a new member as you'll have all the rookie cars / tracks combinations.

Where iRacing gets expensive is with their tracks and cars. I bought road courses that I enjoy. Didn't buy them all at once. I buy 3 tracks at a time as iRacing grants a 25% bulk discount with 3 items or more. Rinse repeat every 2 or 3 months. I now nearly have all the road courses. So I am basically set....besides new content and oval.

If you are thinking of getting a PS4 just for Gran Turismo....just go PC. The sim experience is so much better. If you own a home PC now, it may very well run iRacing.

It basically is plug and play. Runs off of windows. Install the needed drivers for your wheel. Install game....enjoy.

In the official races we wouldn't race together. Envy and I rarely race together as splits are determined by iRating. iRating determines your division. But Envy and I are able to practice together all the time.

There are leagues as well. We all can run in a league together if we wish. Similar to our GT5 days.

Only problem with a series is it cost to run one but I would be willing to help out to get all of us running together to have some fun.

Hey guys, I really didn't talk much about it before but......

I really miss racing with you guys. I always had a blast running in whatever series was put together (as long as I wasn't crashing myself AND MY TEAM MATE out of a Monza race and destroying our championship lead.....:banghead: ). I bought a new laptop for work and since it was a pretty good machine I thought I would try SIM racing on a PC and see how it compared to my beloved GT series of games. I plugged in my TV and G27 wheel which was super simple. At the time we were running Red's MX5 series and the first car I drove in iRacing as a rookie was the MX5 so I had a great comparison. The iRacing version of the car and physics just blew away GT5. Oh yeah...and the clutch pedal works like a real car! In the next few weeks I raced GT5 less and less, to the point that I would get on early before GT5 race night and practice and then race. After that I was back to iRacing. Then I moved to the Skip Barber F2000 car because I actually raced that car in real life. It was just glorious...I was hooked on PC based SIM racing. Shortly after that my PS3 died and I couldn't resurrect it. I had a very difficult decision to make....spend a couple hundred bucks to race a game I no longer loved with a bunch of guys that I really liked and truly felt like were my friends or just focus on PC SIM racing. We all know what path I took.

Red and I always said that if you guys were to try iRacing you too would be hooked. It's possible to do what they call "fast track" through the rookie series and get up to Red and I. The rookie series can be frustrating because of the quality of other drivers (or the lack of quality) but you'll learn a lot. To run a league you don't have to have any special license, we can set it up that all of us would be allowed to run.

I say lets get it started I would love to race a series on iracing anyway we can do some ovals too if we decide to start one :)

I'm ready. The nice thing is we can set up a hosted session for literally a couple dollars and put a password on it so Roadrash wouldn't have to sit there and boot any unwanted visitors. :D With the hosted session you can set up how long practice is, how long qualifying is, and then the length of the race. The server handles it all, we never have to change rooms, text our qualifying times, etc.

I've honestly not run a single lap on a oval in iRacing... plus I would have to create another paint job... but I'll try it.

Well he11, maybe I'll try a 3 month membership. I don't have a computer near my tv, so I'd have to play on a small monitor.

You hijackers know anything about a certain plane?

Not so sure this missing plane crashed. I believe it was hijacked.
If. Someone hijacked, what do they want it for? Wouldn't you be like "I have your plane and I want $1 million?" or "this is for Bin laden" . I got to say I'm a little obsessed with this.
