Hmmmmm........$40 vs. $300...........you buyin'??

That one pedal is almost half the cost of my triple-screen setup. I think I'll go for the surround-vision goodness. :dopey:

Me buy? Mr. Triple-Screen-Expendable-Income? lol :sly:

^ Most of the expendable income is coming from un-used vacation time from work. I get 2 weeks paid vacation and I only used 4 days so I get paid for what I didn't use. I also have insurance money for my crashed motorcycle, since I lost something I enjoyed (motorcycle) I figure I should use that money to go towards something else I'd really enjoy (triple-screens!!).

(I'm good at justifying my wanty, huh? lol )

It's just money, can't take it with you... I'd spend it all too!

^ Not many other things I could spend it on that I'd use on almost a daily basis. Plus I can sell it all sometime down the road and get a portion of it back.

(I'd say it's pretty much a done deal at this point!) :dopey:

^ If you guys would like to offer up some donations I'd happily go for 5!! Otherwise, just the 3. My apartment really isn't that big and just the 3 screens is going to require a total relocation of my "rig".

NO ABS was amazing, guy in front locked up going into a turn, it looks awesome. Very exciting stuff. You should consider keeping it off, just worried there isn't enough time to adjust. After I put it back on it felt like the Alfa had massive breaks, tapped it and bam lost 20 mph!

I personally like ABS=off in many cars after spec2.0 came out. I think I might've even ran like that in one of the Cappy enduros, or at least spent a good chunk of time in practice. A word of warning though - on cold tires into a fast turn-one you're gonna have to start braking waaaaay early and gently, and it's probably a good idea to do it off the racing line, otherwise you'll get bumped and in all likelihood won't be able to catch it until the wall/sand.

So, if abs=off is not mandated, be prepared to lose a few spots during the first lap, or disable ABS after a few laps.

IMO it would be a bad idea to mandate ABS 0. Basically a kick in the pants to anyone without a wheel/pedals using a DS3 controller. If you are faster with ABS 0 then run it, but don't require it.

Yep, that was my thinking. For those of us who like No ABS we're free to turn it off, but it would be harsh to mandate that everyone use it because some may not like it or be able to handle it (depending on their gear). I wouldn't think there would be any performance difference between cars with/without it, at least not enough to matter, so having some drivers with it and some without shouldn't cause any problems. 👍

That was my initial concern as well, because I run with a DS3 and had never even attempted to run with ABS off before... But after a handful of laps I was able to run competitively.

We could do Spec No ABS Night!!!!

Was a few other old cars I wanted to try. Especially the old Premium cars.

If it came with ABS factory. Then we should use it.

Also maybe use some F1 cars no ABS for thrill.

Also can the ORCA accounts add GTP_OwensRacing to them.

I am working on getting the Alfa and other racers sent over so I can use that for league racing.

I also really enjoyed no ABS, I think it was Torzilla's idea when he set up the room 👍 It adds another whole aspect to racing. With no ABS, breaking control is just as important as throttle control, not just mash the breaks. It gives more opportunity to "out break" people also, and if last night was any indication it would lead to more exciting racing.

I can't recall correctly but I want to say DSG used a controller and was fond of no ABS, may be wrong though about him using a controller.

If you are a controller user you should give it a go and see how you like it, turn the brake bias down (I was at 2-0) though. In my experience throttle/brake control is easier on the wheel for me, but if you're a controller user you may already have the throttle control down so learning the brake control may come quickly.

I would imagine ABS will always be faster and more consistent that no ABS though.

PS - Here's to hoping that someday they'll have "clutch only" option...

Maybe the next go round of the O.R.C.A. [insert name here] Cup we can go for no ABS for even more enhanced realism but I believe it's a bit short notice for this one. Once I got the brake balance adjusted down last night it was much more comfortable although you really had to be on your toes, especially at GVE after the esses and the first corner at Nurb GP/F:crazy:

I did the bungee cord mod that Owens mentioned above a long time ago on my DFGT, but in running without ABS I also put a piece of closed cell foam, hot water pipe insulation behind the brake pedal for a much stiffer feel and that really helped. The DFGT pedal is way too light in feel to run without ABS in it's stock condition for me anyway.

For anyone inexperienced with no ABS but wants to give it a spin, try settings like 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, 3/1 etc. Unlike everywhere else in the entire world, in GT5 0 does not equal 0 braking, just a low figure. Coming in from higher speeds it helps to brake hard at first and then ease off a bit as you slow down to avoid locking up as you enter the turn. With a bit of practice it's becomes quite comfortable...although running in traffic is a whole different ballgame:drool:

Sounds like we might have to add an ORCA_no_abs_Room pretty soon...lol.

I did set up the room with no ABS, but I was really just setting it up with no aids, saw there was 6 aids instead of the usual 5, but didnt really look to see what the new one was. I do not always pay a lot of attention to detail. It was fun and I was able to feel comfortable using with my DS3. I dont think it would be a good idea to run during the series though because I can see it causeing some wrecks. Dont get me wrong Im all for a good car wreck but I think people might not be into it. Im all for an option to use it though, basically Im pro-choice on ABS.

Oh, we know, Mr. Jump Track!!

Don't worry, ABS will NOT be prohibited for the season. There's a learning curve to not using ABS, and for a lot of us it's very new (I've never really dabbled with it much until last night) so I don't want to make things difficult for new drivers. I've always intended this series (Capp Cup and Alfa) to be a kind of "hop in and go" series that doesn't require a ton of practice or effort and prohibiting ABS could be contradictory to that. I will encourage people to not use ABS if they want an extra touch of realism, but it may not be for everybody.

I will say this though, last night I drove with ABS off, the drivers list off and the suggested gear indicator off and it was almost a totally different (for the better) experience than I'm used to. Just turning the drivers list off was great, almost felt like driving with no HUD and I had FULL use of the rear view mirror which was spectacular!!

Lol, the alternative, I guess, is to say that "if it's conceived with no ABS then ... . Keep it the way nature Alfa created it!!!111"
I'll just stop right there, lol.

I had the same setup and it was much better view wise. I may turn everything off for some races and see how that works out.

I think it would be important to have the lap counter and position indicator since those could effect your strategy. Everything else can go.

I turned off the best times and the driver list. I need to turn off the stupid gear indicator, but I'm amazed how I use it without directly using it, I never follow it directly, but I know for turn x I wait for a second of flashing then break. Stupid thing. Turning it off tonight. I think ABS 0 is slower and far more prone to error than ABS 1.

In longer races you also need tire wear/fuel bars. No way to have only those on right now.

I turned off the gear indicator for the first time last night and experienced the exact same thing, blew right through the first couple turns haha. Funny how much you relay on it for those chicanes after long straights.

Removed it first time out with new update. Haven't turned it back on.

Last not racing a new car for the first time I caught myself checking in a few turns for that indicator. Was hoping to get a decent brake mark. Hahaha left it off and really like not having it.

I overshot a few turns when I first turned it off, but it was also the first time I had driven the car I was in.

I added a couple holiday treats to the OP. :) I hope all of you guys and your family/friends have a safe and happy holidays, how ever you may celebrate them!

Inspired by the season, I recently created a couple fantastic custom snow tracks. if anybody would be interested in getting together this evening for some holiday AWD snow racing/shenanigans, let me know! :sly:

Snow driving?? Yuri has the advantage here surley. I'm down, should be a blast.

Also, how on Earth do people drive with the whole HUD off, I have no idea how fast I'm going. The speedos are usually too small to see. Maybe I need a larger TV, Jan sales comming up :D
