I would be interested in the special event, but the time is a killer for me. I don't know that I would represent ORCA as well as many others. On the other hand, if I were in the race, my lack of skills and poor luck may help us out ;)

Signed up. I saw no one had chosen yellow yet, so I went with it in order to stand out :P Also I'll gladly run for Team ORCA, although I won't guarantee being able to keep up with some of those Div 1 guys. I'm fast but not that fast

This intrigued me, so I started looking up 'gt5 glitch' and found this video of the SS7 glitch with two very familiar names on the driver list!

Brandon I am aghast :yuck: ....that you only did the glitch twice that is...:sly:

I made about $75,000,000 and filled my garage:idea:

I signed up for the WRS/ORCA event and put 75% as I'm never sure of my availability on weekends. Should be interesting..

Will colour choices be updateable? I'd love to sign up, as it's rare/impossible to find a regular thing that I can schedule (6am Sundays - the Saturday slot - is usually pretty free, and the Friday slot might work now and again!). I was actually looking at this before Tim did the reveal, but have been busy at work.

I have no idea whether I can be competitive (Johnny and dsgerbc are both faster, for example, but I'd like to be tussling somewhere), but I do love me that car. I believe I can be clean and consistent at the stated spec, and would be perfectly happy to do a test-practice thing.

With regard to the special event, I'd be willing to drive for whoever pays me the least :D (but I'd be more motivated if it involved battlin' Gravitron ^_^)

^ Great to have another Aussie onboard! Seems like you'll be a perfect fit with this group, especially with that fantastic avatar. You eeeeeeeeediot!! 👍

About the WRS/ORCA event, don't be worried about trying to be as fast as the Div1 guys. As WRP001 said, we're going to try to figure out ahead of time where everybody stands in relation to each other and if there is a big discrepancy we will institute some kind of handicap to make things as even as possible. We're also looking at putting emphasis on the team aspect and possibly scoring things based on overall team finish and not just individual finishing positions. So if we, as a team, all finish in the upper half of the field we could possibly pull off an upset without having to actually win the race. Or something along those lines anyway. Tim/WRP001 and his team really want to make this as fair and fun for everyone as possible, it's less about proving who has the fastest drivers and more about who has the best overall competitors. We have a great group of clean competitors here and I have confidence that we'll all be proud of our results even if we don't come out on top. 👍

We've got well over a month to figure this all out and we'll be sure to get input from you guys along the way. One nice benefit is going to be that we get access to the selected track early. In the WRS events they don't know what track they'll be on until just before the weekly event starts, but I will be able to reveal it to you guys well ahead of time so we can get a bit of extra practice before we try to tackle the D1 Goliath's. We will also have some actual practice races on the track to further hone our racing skills and strategy. We'll have to figure out a way to keep the selected track under-wraps in the public arena so WRS members don't read our thread and find out where we'll be racing but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Ultimately this event is just to promote our series and the WRS events and bring together drivers from different areas to enjoy some quality racing together. Whether we come out on top or not, as long as we all have fun and get to meet some new racers it will be a success in my eyes.

Note: Tim has added a section for the Team ORCA drivers to the sign-up sheet in the INTEREST CHECK THREAD so if you haven't yet, please add your name and likelihood of participating. This isn't an official sign-up sheet yet, it's just so we can get an idea of how many people will be participating so we can figure out how to structure the event. The official sign-up will come later.

👍 Glad to see one other person on here who can spell colour correctly! :sly:
(Runs and hides...)

If you register for the Alfa Cup and later want to change your colours, please simply re-register. We can then remove your first registration from the list.

Sorry I just resubmitted my registration so I could get my colour onto the list. Then realised its already been done.

Hope we get a few more Euro Tuesday racers.

Why must you add extra letters to a perfectly good word?? :irked:

Tee hee! You'll wish you hadn't taken the bait!

Why does adding ar to Kansas (Arkansas) change the pronounciation?
Or why isn't Oregon pronounced in a similar way to the herb oregano?
Mind you, I cannot explain Leicester (Lester), Towcester (Toaster) or the utterly bizarre Belvoir (Beaver).

Hear endeth the English lesson for today.

(I can just hear Beavis and Butthead giggling 'cos I wrote Belvoir)

No worries about the registration. I've now removed your original registration and the listing should update itself in the next half hour or so.

Hopefully the Tuesday Euro event should attract a few more people. It's early days yet and everyone's busy with Christmas.

Haha. My car is bright orange with light blue wheels and i just realized three other people have orange :banghead:

Haha think im sticking with this one though :sly:

Hoping to get some practice in to see where i stand before january ;)

Haha yeah orange seems to be a popular color. I wanted to go with orange in the last series I ran, but ended up having to change it since there were already a couple people with orange.

 Definitely keep the whoopie cushions. :sly:

I'm actually trying to recruit another one of the newly minted GTP OLR moderators to join as well... from what I know of him, he probably has a whoopie cushion in his back pocket right now.

Hey all. That's twice I've been mentioned in this thread, that combined with how cool all y'all and Brandon are has convinced me I need to get in on this. 👍 Looks awesome.

I've raced with lost to Dan a couple times in 3D3, and Tim can beat me with one hand tied behind his back, if that gives you an idea of my speed. Ren and I are usually really close. :D So for the special event, I'll take the opposite team he chooses. Still need to figure out what my primary timeslot for the series will be, but I'll try to sign up soon!

Great things going on in this thread! 👍

Great to have you Lucas! We all know the perils of racing with following Dan/DSG around the track, be we enjoy it! We've never had moderators in our league before, I promise to make the riff-raff behave (as much as possible, no promises!).

because thats how you speak 'Merican, love it or leave it

Fixed that for ya. :dunce:

^ I think I'll probably have the lounge open this evening for some Alfa fun. Probably around 7-7:30pm EST if I had to guess but not for sure yet.

^ I thought your poker night got moved to Thursdays, or it's not for few more weeks?

Don't worry Brandon... this is the guy I was referring to earlier who probably has a whoopie cushion in his back pocket right now. If he doesn't I guarantee that Ren has one. They don't make them any funnier than those two. Ren found this image a long time ago:

Then sign up man and let us know you are interested!

Maybe by the time we have an official sign up for the event I'll have figured out RDAardvark's amazing tricks with his cool automated sign up system. 👍

Actually, looks like he's the only one doing it right!!

RDAardvark is a class 5 Internet Witchdoctor, years and years of schooling he has had.

:embarrassed:

It's not witchcraft, but if you look hard enough you'll see the sticky tape and chewing gum that's holding it all together!

Actually, looks like he's the only one doing it right!!

Ironic, no? And here I was trying to escape my sordid beginnings and make a clean start :embarrassed: ..... I still maintain that the whoopie cushion has comic validity.

I'm all registered, and the chosen hue(s) noted. I might also send an FR from my main account to ORCA_Champ so I know when to switch, if you see what I mean.

Teehee. He said Belvoir.

Damn French.

Ren and I are usually really close. :D So for the special event, I'll take the opposite team he chooses.

But that was my plan. Well, in a programming sense, I guess that places us in a race condition... 💡

The ORCA_Champ lounge is open for Alfa practice and racing. I'll be on for an hour or two if anyone wants to come out to play.

*closed*

^ For the most part just the ORCA_Champ lounge is being used right now. Any practice or race sessions for the Alfa will take place in that lounge. I'm currently working on creating a Club that will house the activities for the other 3 lounges and they will basically independent of the Alfa Z Cup. Of course everyone in the Z Cup will be welcome to race in the other lounges, but the Club will be open to anybody and everybody and they may or may not participate in the Z Cup. I hope to have the Club up and running within a week. 👍
