So after posting redneck stuff I shut down my computer, clock out and walk to my car.......and I saw this:

^ No comment on the hillbilly truck video? When I shot it I was specifically looking forward to your comment.

^^^

We lost him way back at NASCAR...

You talking about Owens' corn hole probably just scared him off!

Anybody running in the VCRC racing Sunday interested in some Celica practice tonight? Everyone's welcome and can drive something other than the '70 Celica as long as it's close in PP. 8 or 9pm EST in the Champ lounge?

If I'd seen that coming down the street, I'd have stood pointing at it and laughed.
Then I'd probably have been shot at!

^ I see that truck once or twice a week and I chuckle every time I see it.

Here's another example of some of the nonsense I see around these parts. :indiff:

REMOVED

MY EYES........ MY EYES.....

I'm sorry you have to see that Brandon, but what did we do to you, that was so bad, we had to look at it?

LOL!! That's nothing. HBO did a documentary called "Dirty Driving: Thunder Cars of Anderson" that was based on racing junkers at the 1/4 mile oval in my hometown. It was meant to be serious but you can't help but laugh through the whole thing. Of course I cried a bit too, knowing I live in this town. But I've been to this track several times and it is the Redneck Capital of the World, featuring nightly fistfights in the pits!

And here's another fine example of the "racing" at that track. :indiff:

That is a clean looking Monte SS. Think you could stop and see if it's for sale? LoL

Brandon. What you see there is almost every local dirt track on a Saturday night. They do serve beer at these events. I bet they remove the Alky the ignorance level would diminish. LoL

Drag racing:
Street Car Chaos at US41 aka No Limit Speedway used to be completely hood. The cars were fun but the people were true entertainment.

We had a stabbing once. Between two groups that came in from Michigan. They fought each other when they was to be taking on the Chicago Street Racers in races. LoL

Had people with kids complain about how hood it was. I had to laugh. It is street legal racing at the track. Catered to the real street racers that bet thousands. Who brings a kid to this kinda thing. Do you take them to the casino for some gambling too? Some people are dense.

Oh, there are plenty of kids there. It's a popular weekend hangout for the Jr. High and High School (dropout) crowd.

There are actually some decent cars that race out there, midgets, sprints, winged sprints and super late models. Here's a video of some super late models at "the fastest 1/4 mile track in the world" (their words, not mine). I actually was the photographer for this series in 2000-2002, got to travel all around the Midwest and would ride in the convertible pace car during the pace laps and shoot pictures out the back with the cars coming right at me. It was pretty cool. I actually got to drive the pace car for one of the races. I stood up in the drivers seat to take pictures over the windshield and when a caution came out I'd drop down, put it in gear and pace the field. :)

That's awesome bro. I don't care what kind of racing. Being there and being involved is good fun.

Really the grass roots Dirt track racing is usually tue most fun. Less serious. As you progress the level of serious starts raising and well with serious fun tends to leave. LoL

I grew up watching short track oval racing, so the last video posted in pretty close to my heart. One of my favorite tracks, which is now a Six Flags waste of space amusement park, was a little 1/4 mile much like the one you posted. Some of the best, tightest, clean racing you could find in our area. Even the street stock guys usually ran pretty clean. The tracks in New England are pretty good about not dealing with rough driving, usually putting the aggressor to the rear of the pack or to the pits. Eliminates the real woodchuck, redneck, wreckfests that some tracks let slide way too often.

Anderson is an exception. There are other tracks around here like Winchester, Salem, Lucas Oil Raceway Park (formerly Indianapolis Raceway Park) and El Dora that are professionally owned and operated.

Anyway, a few of us will be practicing for the vintage race tonight in my lounge around 8pm EST. If anyone wants to join, you're more than welcome. I think the Celica is around 360pp on Comfort Medium tires so anything comparable would be fine. 👍

Down here we have a track just like that reopening.

Btw Stewart own Eldora Speedway as well he rumored to have boughten Benton County old Henry's or Chase Speedway. Was asphalt now it's clay. Incredible track too. Like a mini Eldora.

At one time Indiana had the most dirt tracks of any state.

Southern Indiana has Brown County Speedway, LaSale Speedway. Both were very nice.

Kankakee is another good dirt track. I could be to three dirt tracks with in 60 mins. One is about 30 mins. 15 mins away small Micro Sprint dirt track that is very very nice.

You guys got me stoked. Me and the boys are hitting the dirt tracks this year for sure. Now where is my goggles and seat cushion.

LancerEvo7
Can one of you guys send me a Celica? Mileage doesn't matter.

Yes! But I need 150 thousand. Or I'll settle for some envelopes and stamps.

Is anyone coming out to play today?
I should be online about 8pm GMT today.

^ I've got nothing to do today and am itching to do some racing. Let's select a car and do some races, start collecting some data for this new format. What's a good car from the NCD that needs racing? Perhaps that Gran Turismo 350z we were playing with last night?

If I'd known you were doing nothing today, you could have come over and helped us move some furniture!

I've now got to rebuild my desk and wire everything up again. The 350z sounds like a good idea, plus I'd like to try out the Swift at Autumn Mini.

I have a real car question for this group, basically i just got some work done to my car and they found some problems. My rack and pinion is leaking, ball joints need replacing and have a cracks/ tears in my bellows boots and axl boots. My question is this, will any of these problems lead to my car exploding or all my tires falling off at once? Dont get me wrong I would love to go down in a blaze of glory but I just dont want car problems to make me late work. My car is old so Im not putting any money into it but I want to know if any of these problems will lead to my car being undrivable and if so how long do I have before that happens.

Any thoughts on playing around with something later on tonight, maybe 7 or 8pm est start time? I would be up for anything, but maybe use the recommended garage NASCAR cars at Daytona (not sure they will race today, maybe we should). Do some 5-10 lap heat races just for play???

Well, you can keep topping off PS reservoir. A lot cheaper then re-sealing I guess. How bad are the ball-joints? They usually knock on bumps when they get real bad. Bellows I guess means dust boots on steering linkage? I'd just duct-tape over those ;)
Bad CV joints in axles also usually click. First they click during turns, then they start clicking driving straight and giving it gas. Then they click all the time. Then after X miles where X depends on manufacturer, they could disintegrate and unless you have AWD you won't be able to move. If they aren't clicking in turns yet I'd get a re-seal kit, clean out the dirt, throw in some grease and call it good for now.

Ive had knocking on bumps for a long time now, but no clicking what so ever. I have close to 200K on the car now so Im saving untill it dies and Ill get something new. I bought it used 15 years ago for $13k, so I guess I got my money out of it, Ill just be taking it to and from work from now on, it should hold up a little longer.
