Any thoughts on playing around with something later on tonight, maybe 7 or 8pm est start time? I would be up for anything, but maybe use the recommended garage NASCAR cars at Daytona (not sure they will race today, maybe we should). Do some 5-10 lap heat races just for play???

I'm down.

Great job in the VCRC Vintage Celica race today fellas:). All the top 5 spots for Team ORCA as Lancer mentioned above. 👍👍

Congratulations to Owens for the back to back victories and to Track for a constent and strong showing...only 1 point between 1st and 2nd.

Also means we are 5/5 in winning the VCRC tournaments so far:dopey: This could turn into one of those epic streaks like the 17-0 Dolphins :sly:

Hey guys :)

I'm too lazy to search through the thread, so I'll just ask here:

Are you guys gonna do a new Capp series soon, or are you going to do another season of the Alfa, or even something different? I'd definitely like to break out the old Cappy again, and even if you're doing something else, I'll still check it out and see if the times work for me.

I miss racing with you guys ;)

Hey Mule, long time no see:cheers:

Next up for ORCA is some spec racing, with a different car each week for 3 weeks and then a sort of championship week, where we vote on one of the three cars raced previously and the car with the most votes is the one we race in the championship. We plan to use a wide variety of cars, everything from older, low powered vintage cars on comfort tires, GT class cars and sports cars on sports tires, right up the full fledged race cars on racing tires and everything in between. No need to worry about tuning anything other than brakes, just buy the car, hop in and go.

In the 3 non-Championship weeks, we'll run at our usual race times with no real time limits. As long as people are there willing to race and someone is willing to host beyond the standard times, the room will stay open for business. In the championship weeks, although the format is yet to be finalized, we may do a Q run for one race, then reverse grid for two more races all at different tracks. Lot's of variety.

As for running the Cappy, an organized league may happen in the future but not at the moment, although I'm sure if you put the word out, some of the fellas will be up for a reunion of sorts.

I may run another season of it, but it'd be after my kart series.

As I don't plan on doing anything with the Capp's for a while I've given Lancer permission to run them under the GTMSA banner if he desires.

I'd like to do some basic testing this week of the new format to see what we can learn about how it's going to work. So we will try a kind of mock-schedule based on what I've proposed. I've had a few people mention this car to me, so this week we will run the Gran Tursimo Nissan 350z available from the new car dealership. It is a pretty fun car to drive and should be good to race. We will meet at our normal times, select a track or two and do some double-header races. I think we're going to try moving the early week GMT race to Wednesday so it doesn't interfere with the Tuesday race (if this fits RDAardvark's schedule). I would also like to move the Friday races up to 9 or 9:30pm EST if I have to host them, the normal time is just a little too late for me. I will try to find another regular host for Friday's at the later time since I know it fits the west coast guys better. But this week we will try it at 9. We will do this in the ORCA_Champ lounge, it will open early as usual for practice and we will commence racing at the time qualifying normally started.

I love the car, just say the date when you guys run them.

Normal times, but moving the early Tuesday slot back one day to Wednesday (if RDAardvark's schedule permits) and the Friday slot 30-60 minutes earlier.

I'll be around this evening for some practice. I've never really driven the car so I guess I should take it for a good drive. Bob's taking it for a spin now, then to the paint shop. I'll be in the lounge around 7pm EST.

So what do you guys think of the example cars I proposed for the new format (Stingray, California, Shultz GT-R)? I kinda picked them randomly but I have tested them all and they're all really nice cars to drive so I might use those for the first go-round. All are Premiums and affordable (relatively) so you might want to go ahead and acquire them and get them broken-in. The GT 350z is just for practice this week.

Stingray 👍 👍, California 👍, GT-R..... Not the most fun (read as: very stable car) to drive....
The main reason I never use it is after doing 200+ laps in the seasonal TT last year I now am sick of it
What tire would we be using with it? SH?

I was driving it on SS. I notice it's also being used in a WRS event soon so probably would be a good idea to change it to a different race car.

Alright. I'll make sure to keep my eye on here then. Thanks :)

I enjoy driving the GT-R race car, but it is very stable and easy to drive. The other concern is I dont think it can be painted. Not that it is a huge deal, but it is nice when everyone can have something a little different or at least personalize their car a bit. What about a standard car like the Lupo cup car? I will be on in a few minutes with my GT metallic green Z.

Wednesday's grand with me, same time though. 9pm GMT.

I was hosting the Fun Racer's surprise night tonight and we ended up driving the BMW touring car and the Alfa TZ2 with no aids whatsoever. Great fun and definitely something to try another night.

Upon RDAardvark's urging (blame him )
I'm going to poke my snoot in here & say...

If you guys decide to race LUXURY SALOON cars... on whatever crap tires they come with...
Give me a heads up, because I'll be down with your team orca stuff!

That's if you guys are up to racing cars that have a bit of pitch & roll. :sly:
Another fun car if you're looking for something interesting: Holden Monaro. 👍

Of course if you enjoy fishtailing, there are a number of Skylines I can recommend... but will likely need to wash my hair that night at whatever time the race is taking place. ;)
Some cars are too 'interesting' even for me.

THE GT 350Zed is quite fun to drive and race, had a good time last night even though there were just a few of us. We'll be looking to do it again tonight starting at 8pm EST, I think we'll give Suzuka a try since we haven't run it much with this group. The Champ lounge will open between 7-7:30pm EST, at 8 we'll do a quick qualifying session and a couple races with the second being reverse grid.

EDIT: Also, I think we're going to replace the Shulz GT-R with the Acura NSX RM. :sly:

Don't start blaming me! I'm innocent!

If you want something with lots of pitch and roll, try the SambaBus, especially from cockpit view. As Brandon found on Saturday, when you brake, you really do feel as though you are going to smash your face into the windscreen.

I can't make it tonight either, I'll also be washing my hair... :sly:

^ Oh, I thought you were going in for the mud bath and cucumber facial. Must have got the appointments confused. :dunce:
