Some shots I took at Road America a few months back. I know how to set up a shot as far as framing goes, but I have next to no experience with a proper camera, not to mention that I'd never really took pictures of moving race cars! Haha. Plus the car shows in town were all SUPER crowded so getting the shot I wanted quickly wasn't easy. Considering that none of these are edited in any way and it's my first proper shoot, I'm glad how most of my photos came out. Here's a few of my favorites.

@V0RT3X

Lower your shutter speed and increase your aperture.

Lowering your shutter speed will give you a sense of motion. Depending on the speed of the corner, I would shoot between 1/80 and 1/120.

Seeing as these are fairly low shutter speeds I would recommend looking into getting an ND filter. This allows you to shoot at low shutter speeds in broad daylight without blowing out your image.

Other than that your shots are great 👍

Thanks! I adjust shutter speed all the time in videogame photomodes, but never with my actual camera. Gonna have to break out the owners manual to figure that one out. :lol:

@AOS-

I like top left and bottom left. 👍 👍

Just makes me want a macro lens more :lol:
Hopefully soon.

I like the top left because it sets this really dark tone to the turtle that is the goofiest. Brings out amother side of Mikey. Kinda chilling.

Bottom left, the right amount of colour is revealed.

However I'm really digging the amount of detail and colour revealed in the mask in the image on the top right.

After using an Olympus bridge camera for about 7 years, I recently decided to upgrade to a Nikon D3400 for my first DSLR. First time I really got the chance to test it out at was Rally Australia last month, having never used it at a motorsport event before it was a bit of a learning experience.

One of my friends recently got a shop at an old hangar building. One of the other renters had a bunch of other tools and supplies hanging around so I figured I'd attempt one of those industrial garage sort of photos.... Unfortunately had no real way of cleaning off the car in -10 degree weather.

A few weeks ago, I was finally able to make it out to the track again and put my skills to the test. Maybe next time I can get on the track too, haha. Made a lot of good connections in the process and am excited to see what all 2018 may entail.

I've picked up my camera (just an 1100d) again and ordered one of those otg chords so I can put the pictures straight into my phone. I'm trying to put a little money aside to buy a 40mm lense and then I hope to contribute in here a little. I've been playing with the 50mm lense and it's good fun but most picture are just my dog or my son so far. Need to get out and about.
