Is it tree reflection with a interference ripple breaking up the outline? I like reflections that have distortions in them.
Yeah, you're right! I wonder why I cannot see my pic any more.. only a small pictogram and the filename. Do you see the same now?

Your post is full size in the thread maybe when I quoted it just a thumbnail link appears instead?

Low light is tricky on film. The ISO is far less forgiving that what we are used to in digital now
Either use a tripod, a string tripod if you want mobility or shoot in better light.
Oh, I know, it's just that I've never struggled with getting focus like this. I think it's because I've only used split-view focusing on an old Minolta SRT-101, so I have to get used it on a Nikon.

Two more curves on a mountain path surrounded by a vast vegetation of trees of all kinds. Follow these roads and how to venture to the Autunum Ring as written in some post Fa, the road has a lot of volcanic sand as if you were in a Rally
.At the same time it is a lot of fun to drive many climbs make sure that you will never get bored

Altre due curve su un sentiero di montagna circondato da una vasta vegetazione di alberi di ogni genere. Segui queste strade e come avventurarti all'Autunum Ring come scritto in qualche post Fa, la strada ha molta sabbia vulcanica come se fossi in un Rally.at the same time it is a lot of fun to drive many climbs make sure that you will never get bored
Wow!!!!
Where did you take these photos?

That's awesome! How did you get a media pass?
I do photography as a hobby, and since I started it was one of my dreams to actually shoot at a race in a professional way (i.e., just like a media guy). One day I was browsing through the web, looking for races near me I could get accredited for.

Long story short: stumbled across the 24H Series website, checked the guidelines, and just applied for accreditation. Very few series don't need you to be some type of journalist / professional photographer / etc. to get accredited, as I found out after talking to someone else who took photos that day (Int'l GT Open). And since I have my own little website and social media channel, I simply put those as my "client" and I got accepted.

That's awesome! I've also looked for ways to get accredited for events, but, like you said, most require you to be a professional photographer or journalist. But I've been lucky enough to meet someone who hosts HPDE events that I got to take photos for and also some grassroots drift events.

Nice!

Have you shared some photos of these events here as well? I'd really love to see them!

And in just two months I'll be back at Spa, this time for the International GT Open Series (as mentioned in my previous post). In October, I'll be at Circuit Zolder for the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (if I get accredited, applied on tuesday). So keep looking out for more trackside photos, hehe.

Yes I have, but it has been a long time since then haha. I've been too busy with university to do more. Looking back, I think I have gotten a lot better at panning since then.

These are mostly just photo dumps rather than any curation (from most recent to the oldest):

It's a lot of fun being so up close to the track. I really do hope I get more opportunities in the future. I have no idea where I'll be after I graduate, but hopefully somewhere near a race track.

That's awesome! I wish I was close to a track like Spa or Zolder. I've been to Watkins Glen one year, but that was just as a normal spectator. But my friends and I snuck into the pits for the start of one of the races. We were definitely not supposed to be there haha..

When you're at these tracks, how long do you stay at one corner / vantage point? Do you walk around often? I've been wondering about this a lot, especially for shorter races. I'm not sure how I would balance between taking the same photos at the same corner with walking to a different location, especially when the race is only so long.

Great pictures! 👌

Regarding panning... that too did gradually improve. Only at Spa last sunday I learned to do what I like to call "fast panning" instead of just panning just enough to keep the car in the frame. The best example for that is the picture of the #71 R8 GT3 I posted, easily my favourite photo of them all from that day.

What other tracks are near you if I may ask?

Spa and Zolder are both great tracks, but Spa is just something else. The surroundings, the undulations... just being there as a spectator is one hell of an experience. But with a media pass around your neck, that's a whole different story. Picture the scene: You're standing inside of La Source, you hear a Huracan Super Trofeo blasting down the start/finish straight, only to go through turn 1 maybe 30 to 40cm beside you, only being seperated by the pit wall. Or an AMG GT3 approaching Les Combs at 270+ kph, and then flies by you while just being about 3m away from you.

Enough day dreaming now. When I was at Spa, I usually spent about an hour per vantage point/corner. Sometimes maybe less, sometimes more. For example, I spent about 1.5 hours just in the pit lane alone. Then about an hour at Pouhon, and so on. It all really depends on what kind of shots I want to produce. And at Spa, you have to take long walks to get to a different vantage point. Fancy taking some photos at the chicane before the start/finish straight but you're at Fagnes (the chicane after Pouhon)? That'd be a 15 to 20 minute walk then.

It's different for each track, really. But when I attend a race as a spectator, I usually stay at the same place. Though, that also depends on the length of the race.
