He'll be A Blinken Idiot if it all goes tits up.
Define "tits up". All that's going to happen is NATO is going to bitch and complain and then Russia will say "no u" and waltz right into the Russia-aligned regions throughout western and southern Ukraine, taking what they want with very little repercussions. Ukraine will get smaller and the West will claim that it never happened and refuse to redraw their maps.

A while back I saw a TV report of unprecedented ambush style murders of police men and women. This morning I found this CNN/FBI report which puts the TV story in better perspective.

Intentional killings of law enforcement officers reach 20-year high, FBI says

Eight were ambushed last year which is down on my earlier estimate. The other felonious killings appear to me to be in the course of regular police duties.

Yes. But really, should getting shot to death be of course in regular police duties? There may be more to said about this subject.

No, and nobody is suggesting this.

Certainly, it should be said that "the murder of police by assassination" isn't the leading cause of death on the job by a long shot even if they're saying on TV that it's at "unprecedented record levels". That report strikes me as somewhat sensationalist.
On TV they are saying the murder of police by assassination is at unprecedented record levels.

Yeah, that TV report was from a local, actually Tacoma, station. Anyway, I will keep an eye out for more news - reliable news - on this subject. The citizens in my area have a somewhat schizophrenic attitude towards police. They hate them and want them defunded, at least they did last year. Now, because of crime and people staying away from downtown shopping, attitudes are shifting. We elected a new mayor and a new prosecutor in Seattle who are now taking a much more sober and realistic position on police funding and staffing. Thanks for your interest.

Masked Singer isn't a Disney show, right? It's made by the part of Fox which is still Fox if I'm not mistaken. Not sure why else the show (which I've never watched to be honest) would pull something like this other than to elicit controversy.

[EDIT] From what I read Thicke doesn't appear to be a paragon of virtue himself if the accusations against him are accurate.

They clearly want to draw in the QAnon crowd.

I have no respect whatsoever for Graham but it's an important statement that he made. All the more heartbreaking it'll be when he apologizes for it because he incurred the wrath of the crazy that he helped to court and cultivate for political gain.

Everything will be fine provided they don't gain a large enough majority to enshrine this lawless idiocy into your legal and political systems. It goes without saying that leading Democrats need to do more to highlight and oppose this behaviour.

I don't speak GIF so well these days so I guess you mean that in the bad way (ie the Dems are handwringing and ineffectual) rather than the good way (hey, the Repubs will come around because they're really good guys at heart), right?

Either way, I hope something comes of the Jan 6th investigations. I don't care which side responds, so long as steps are put in place to ensure that it can't happen again, or worse.

Oh, yeah. I mean...it's close. Democrats just don't have it in them, and there are a couple Republicans who don't hesitate to call out the mainstream GOP (and render themselves persona non grata in the process).

Well, aside from Manchin and Sinema, they do seem to have it in them. Meanwhile we (the people) could really use a Romney and... who? Cassidy, Collins? to stand up for a voting rights bill. All 3 voted to remove Trump from office following Jan. 6th, but I haven't heard any of them supporting federal legislation to protect voting rights. The bills have been going through in various states are alarming to say the least, and could set the stage for Trump to succeed in his coup the next time around. We just need 2 from the GOP to stand up for voting rights. Manchin and Sinema are a lost cause. So far we have zero.

If the republicans manage their slow rolling coup, I'll lay the blame at the feat of the 52 members of the senate who refused to vote for voting rights legislation. Not the 48 that wanted to see it done. I already lay the blame at the feet of the 43 Republican Senators that failed to convict Trump during his second impeachment.

Today in 'Republican Cancel Culture...'

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/04/us/politics/republicans-jan-6-cheney-censure.html

The Republican National Committee now wants to censure Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for standing up for the Constitution and believing that the party needs to move on from Trumpism. Luckily at least two GOP Congresspeople who aren't Cheney or Kinzinger (Romney and Bill Cassidy) called this out (though let's be honest, just one Republican condemning this is the lowest bar imaginable).

The folks who rioted and pushed back against police, damaged property, & tried to overrun the Capitol were “ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.”

Give it time... if Trump gets back in and pardons them they'll be legitimate as all hell.
