Democrats should have done everything they could to protect the country from Trump.

Trump openly violates laws, and Democrats are still too scared to violate "norms".

The DOJ was too weak, the Senate refused to change the filibuster to actually pass laws. They just generally keep playing nice when their opponent doesn't even pretend to care about the rules.

We're past norms. There's a new normal, and it means doing whatever it takes to protect the country.

You assume they will abide by existing rules and conventions, I certainly don't.

Apologies, I wasn't clear on this point; they might not get an official role that requires congressional approval but with checks and balances out of the window, they'll get a role one way or another and de facto have the roles and authority of whatever role Trump wants them to have.

He promised RFK the position. He could, of course, back out of the promise. But if he decides he needs to make good on it, I'm sure he can twist arms in the senate to make it happen.

Most Americans don't have any dental coverage. A buddy of mine works for an airline and didn't choose the comprehensive dental option because he's a grown man, but later found out he needs work and adult braces. $7,000. Even for an airline pilot that's a kick in the nuts.

As somebody who lives outside of the US, my impression is that Republicans are less supportive towards Public healthcare than Democrats.

Apologies if this seems like I'm prying - your posting history here seems to indicate that you have a family member going through the public system for various treatments. I'm just curious - what caused you to vote the way you did?

I wonder how many gallons of water a day one has to guzzle before the fluoride poisoning takes effect. He does post a lot on the food thread though so maybe he needs something to wash it down.

I just don't get how we give the surgeon general job to someone who not only isn't a doctor, but didn't even attempt to go to medical school.
