Democrats should have done everything they could to protect the country from Trump.

Trump openly violates laws, and Democrats are still too scared to violate "norms".

The DOJ was too weak, the Senate refused to change the filibuster to actually pass laws. They just generally keep playing nice when their opponent doesn't even pretend to care about the rules.

We're past norms. There's a new normal, and it means doing whatever it takes to protect the country.

Did you? Did you do everything?

The American people should have done everything they could to protect the country from Trump. They did not.

I mean, there are a few things that could be done, none of them though would be a good idea. Biden could use executive power to pass through as many things as possible that he believes Trump will try to undo. Make it as impossible as it can be. A lot of the confirmations for positions will probably be delayed if not ever passed altogether (I cannot see RFK or Musk getting their positions).

RFK and Musk will get their positions, that's my prediction. I'm not sure why you think otherwise.

At least nuke student loans, Joey 🥺

I suppose you could hope that there are republican senators with the will to oppose such a nomination but... I don't think that kind of thing will happen as much as it used to.

I am partially hoping for this. I cannot imagine big Pharma would want vaccines to completely disappear from the country.

Don't they need 2/3rds of the vote for confirmation?
Apologies, I wasn't clear on this point; they might not get an official role that requires congressional approval but with checks and balances out of the window, they'll get a role one way or another and de facto have the roles and authority of whatever role Trump wants them to have.

I can't imagine Trump wants the COVID vaccine to disappear either, he claims that it was his doing after all.

He promised RFK the position. He could, of course, back out of the promise. But if he decides he needs to make good on it, I'm sure he can twist arms in the senate to make it happen.
