You should be so lucky. All of our politicians are morons unsuitable for the job. I'll see your "Republican who denies science given a senior science oversight position" and raise you a "Prime Minister who accuses the head of state of a nuclear-armed sovereign nation of participating in an act of terrorism, then threatens him over it" (and he's a notorious climate change sceptic to boot).I don't give a damn whether the bloke in charge is an elephant or a donkey, if he's a moron unsuitable for the job then he is a moron unsuitable for the job.

That's a big simplistic though, the cuts where more baby bonus related and forcing people who can work to work, and Medicare isn't sustainable.I wouldn't say that we're politically lazy - rather, we just had two poor choices at the last election. We chose the current government over the previous one, though had we known then what we do now, I strongly suspect we would have kept Labor in power. Yes, they were incompetent, but at least they were fairly benign. The current government has pretty much declared war on the poor to support the wealthy (how else do you explain cuts to unemployment benefits and Medicare, but a refusal to chase corporate tax avoiders?) and has done incredible damage to our international reputation in their handling of immigration, climate change and MH17.
Or drink every time Obama gets a standing ovation from at least half the audience, but Bohmer doesn't join in.How to have tons of fun watching the State Of The Union:
Every time Obama says something communist, or sounds like lefty propaganda, hit play on the national anthem of the USSR.
Bohner's got the worst poker face I've ever seen.Yeah but that's always how it is.
Just watching them does violence to my brain cells, so I'll happily damage my liver as an alternative. And I will not do violence to my liver over a bunch of rat bastard politicians.
I'm afraid the odds of that not happening are pretty slim, sad to say.Let's hope when the final decision does come down, they don't loot, pillage and burn what is left of Ferguson Missouri businesses.
Of course he's not the right man for the job...he's the left man for the job.Obama has a great personality and is probably a cool dude to hang out with. Smart, funny, respectful, interesting.
But I don't agree with his politics. He's got a very important job to do which affects the entire country. He's just not the right man for the job, I'm afraid.
I just shot my drink out my nose.every now and then.
I don't get the impression he's well liked at all. I don't see Obama being seen as a big player on the world stage at all. I think he gets deference due to his title, but I don't see him held in high personal regard by many of the world's leaders. Just my opinion of course. There is no right man for the job when you have a one party system.
The only thing what Obama has as a plus (so it seems) is that the rest of the world seems to like him. Apart from those who get bombarded every now and then.
I'm in the US for the week and I'm watching the Weather Channel's outlook to the upcoming blizzard in the NE. Looks pretty nasty...
I did have chuckle when they started talking about precautions people should take:
- Gas up your cars ahead of the storm
- Limit all travel, stay at home.
The combination of those two doesn't really make sense to me... Why fueling up if you're clearly not going anywhere?
In any case, stay safe everyone on the NE coast!![]()
I don't know if it's a uniquely North American phenomenon but weather is a huge thing newswise here and the way they talk about any kind of weather other than sunny and comfortable, makes it sound like it's something new and different and usually dangerous and exciting. If one didn't know any better and you flipped on the Weather Channel or a news broadcast, you'd think we've never seen a blizzard before, or huge rainfall, or wind, or heat, or cold or any kind of extreme weather at all. The only time I look at the weather is if I'm planning something outdoors like fishing, golf etc.^Makes more sense now, thanks. As a Belgian, I'm pretty unfamiliar with blizzards.

Not alone, but this presents a disturbing trend...A black guy working closely with a cute white girl is not news. Just accept it.
It's not a trend, it has been the norm for a long time. Not alone, but this presents a disturbing trend...

EDIT: Oh, the comments present some interesting bathroom reading...
The "libertarian" section on Reddit is full of weird people who I don't think are real libertarians. I've got my philosophy ironed out pretty well and its a hard position to argue with. Those people are spouting nonsense left and and right. A leftist libertarian? What the hell is that? Can that exist? That doesn't make sense to me. Logic and reason aren't something you can pick and choose.
