The Griffin thing was pretty tasteless, in much the same way burning Obama effigies were. I don't think either one should be tolerated, but that's me.

Personally, I find someone spending multiple years propagating a lie like the birther movement far more insidious. Now who was that, again?

This one...
That's not a comparison.

It is, however, the severed heads of several (in fact all of, to Clinton) US Presidents in a comedy setting - showing that the content is not necessarily as important as the context when it comes to what planet something may be funny on.

Show me a bloody severed head that Johnny brought up.
They're literally in the image.

I didn't double post. On my screen it showed as 2 minutes after Slips post and was a response to him...

They're literally in the image.
Yeah, really the same. Dead and bloody vs. alive and talking.

Excuse my rationality...

If Larry the Cable Guy did this to Obama it would have been the end of the world in the media. But since she's on the "right" side it's hilarious... Get out of here...

The Griffin image is 200 times more disturbing, it looks realistic, the other image is from an animated cartoon......

Congrats, Kathy, you're now the new poster girl for ISIS (she headlined their news network yesterday). It certainly is pushing the boundaries of Free speech, Secret Service has opened an investigation.

Then we have time-travelling staff, as your double-post was merged by the staff a minute before @SlipZtrEm made his post...

Oh, I see. You both meant covered in blood, rather than gosh-darned. This is why commas are important.

I'm not sure how alive George Washington's severed head is, what with him having died 1,200 years before the head technology was invented, but as Futurama is funny despite the bloody severed heads of the leaders of the most powerful country in the world, and a cartoon, some suspension of disbelief is permitted. If it helps, Teller's head (of Penn & Teller) is actually dead - perhaps doubledead - for the entire time it's on screen. And Bender has a relationship with Lucy Liu's head.

Again, the context for the humour is arguably more important than the content of it - which is the answer to the question I actually quoted.

Incidentally, is that the image that I hear is upsetting everyone? Who is the woman?

The woman, no idea. This however is the image that she was supposedly taking inspiration from, it's from a film/TV series called "Game of Thrones". I don't know much about the show, looks like soft-porn Tolkien from what I recall of the TV advert.

Hardcore Tolkien would be closer.

Oh comeon! It's just a way for someone who has become irrelevant to try to become relevant again. By talking about her, posting articles about her, watching the skit, etc. all you're doing is encouraging more of this shock-value nonsense from other celebrities who want to restart their career. She figured this was preferable to a sex tape.

Or it might have the opposite effect, torpedo what was left of her career and maybe convince the other D-list celebrities to use more than one or two brain cells in the future. She's already been dumped by Squatty Potty which brings up a image some other D-list comedian may be able to capitalize on.

Worst possible thing in the entertainment industry is being irrelevant.

So who in the media (or here, if you were also referring to this thread) has said it's hilarious?
This.

Our politics can get pretty messy here, but it's comforting to see that there's still a line in the sand. A LOT of Leftists denounced and didn't want anything to do with the Kathy's stunt.

Edit*
@Johnnypenso : They're reporting CNN has fired Kathy, so she has lost the NYE gig.

No one. But, read the comments, people were loving it. I saw it shared on my FB feed a few times by friends. Can't post them here though...

The worst-taste joke I ever heard was told to me by a Rabbi. The joke was both unfunny and hilarious - it had been told to him by somebody at a rugby club by somebody who didn't know he was telling it to a Rabbi. Sometimes the circumstances of a poor joke can give it legs that it didn't originally deserve, very often I find that something which so agitates Trumpton gets funnier and funnier on that merit alone.

Like when Bill Mahar, usually quite an unfunny hack indeed, essentially tricked Donald into suing him for slander because Donald Trump is legally not, in fact, descended from an orangutan.

It kinda refutes the idea that Trump is Hitler as she hasn't mysteriously disappeared yet, nor anyone else who's been mercilessly criticising him for the past four months.

Who knew that holding an effigy of the US President's decapitated head covered in blood might be construed as "not funny"...

Some of my favourite comedians are capable of tremendous bad taste, but to paraphrase one of the greatest, George Carlin, the humour therein depends on the context - and in this case it is precisely the context that makes this about as funny as a fart in a spacesuit.

Now can anyone show me proof of a celebrity/public figure promoting Obamas decapitation/lynching/death? Or are y'all going to ignore my whole post as usual?

Ted Nugent did it all the time and probably still does it.

Here's one example with a video (language warning because Nugent):
https://www.theatlantic.com/politic...day-ted-nugent-threatens-barack-obama/256025/

Or if you rather:

Or here's a really recent piece:

===

Even in poor taste free speech is still allowed. I think Nugent is an idiot for saying what he said, but that doesn't mean I want to take away his right to say it. The right and left are so hypocritical when it comes to free speech it's almost laughable.

Terrible Ted is a great guitar player. I don't mind his views on hunting and outdoorsy stuff either but when he open up his mouth about politics, well he just shouldn't....
I didn't care for his comments and live concert stunts about a sitting president (Obama) either. I'm a firm believer in respecting the office of the POTUS even if you don't like the man/woman occupying it.
