Being that Rush is now gone does that now make Dennis Prager the most popular conservative radio show host? Or Michael Savage? We all know Rush is reactionary to the core and has said some pretty vile things, but I feel like those two are actually worse than him. You get Prager who is un-ironically against separation of church and state (and, well, PragerU) and Savage who believed that autism is a Democrat conspiracy theory.

Oh, and remember that one geriatric nutjob who said he would die for Trump, and that Trump is the only man "for the people"? That was on Rush's show. Rush may not have told his supporters to go die for Trump but it does make you wonder what years and years of Rush's reactionary drivel does to a person's brain.

Anyway, RIP Rush Limbaugh. I most certainly hate his ideology but I wouldn't wish lung cancer on my worst enemy. My step-grandma died from it (didn't even smoke, but got it from decades of secondhand smoke in her workplace) and it is a truly awful way to die.

This just smacks to me of Japan building a nuke station on a beach where they "calculated" the risk of earthquakes and tsunamis.

The rest of the post aside, this part I think is a bit tougher on them than it needs to be. That nuke plant "survived" an absolutely enormous magnitude 9 earthquake and tsunami and managed to not cause the widespread damage that some expect from nuclear plants being compromised.

Does that mean he's going to keep replenishing them so they can be used over and over again for all of time?

They'll be more than adequate to get us through to the End Times, so why worry?

Seriously, I don't think you can underestimate the influence of evangelical religion on the right wing of American political life - it's really the defining characteristic that separates the United States from the rest of the developed world.

I swear I searched and found only specific and targeted threads. I found "what should I get my girlfriend", I found "what should I give my boyfriend" (I answered that one with THE best possible answer). I found "what should I tell others to get me" threads as well. But I didn't find a thread dedicated to helping people think of gifts for everyone on their list. Old and young, rich and poor, male and female.

Luckily, I've already found a fantastic gift to get every single person on your gift list:

Sawyer Products Mini Water Filtration System, $19 on Amazon.com
- Filters up to 100,000 gallons of water
- lightweight
- could save your life in an emergency
- everyone should have one, few people do.

So that's everyone on your Christmas list taken care of for this year. You're welcome. Alright folks, step right up, what's a great go-to gift for anybody?

So I gave this christmas gift to my parents who live in Texas 6 years ago. They are currently without drinking water and have no idea what I'm talking about with this filtration straw. I specifically got you this gift in case of emergencies, which you are currently faced with, and nope... didn't do any good.

That's right because when Jesus comes back he's goin' be riding in a Hemi, not one of them 'lectric cars goddammit.

He’ll be rollin’ coal in a diesel F-350 with Blue Lives and Q stickers on the bumpers, Gadsden and Confederate flags in the back window, and the hood airbrushed with Trump martyred on the cross.

To be fair, it's really a hypothetical. "If you think it's bad now, just imagine if we passed the Green New Deal and were forced to rely on the wind energy that has failed us." Less the typical Republican stupidity and more the typical Republican fearmongering.
Instead of the uninsulated fossil fuel run stations which actually failed them. Scary bedtime stories trump reality.

He used to have a segment on his show called “AIDS Update” where he would celebrate the death of gay people from AIDS. So, no, I’m not going to hold back from celebrating the death of such an awful human being.

Not to mention his famous Michael J Fox rant where he accused him of faking the effects of Parkinson’s.

Oh and the time he called a college student a slut for fighting for her rights.

I get the whole shock jock thing, but there is a line and he certainly crossed it long ago. He certainly will not be missed.

So much this.

I'm not going to celebrate his death. That's what he would do.

"Just another dead doper. And a dirtbag."

That's what he had to say of Jerry Garcia's passing. And not a decade later he would go to rehab for opiate opioid addiction.

I'm not going to celebrate his death, but I'm **** sure not going to mourn it either.

Don't forget that he got busted for trafficking Viagra of all things...a real stand-up guy there...ba-dum-tish.

Still, as much as I thought Limbaugh was a vile human, I wouldn't wish death on him. Although he did bring cancer on himself by smoking both cigarettes and cigars for years and years.

I'd much rather he stayed alive long enough to eventually come to terms with how wrong and hateful he was.

The best opinions I've seen are of the "sure could use some of that global warming right now!" variety.

These are almost tame when it came his blatant racism. Making a comparison of NFL games to Bloods vs Crips, white people are the least to to feel guilty about slavery, and then there's his Limbaugh Laws segment he did that is just super-racist; only English allowed, immigrants can't own land near beaches, also are not allowed to protest, no unskilled workers & so forth.

No doubt. If I have faith in anything, it's bad faith on the right.
Some rightie idiot I'm glad I no longer work with sent me this laughably bad hot (or rather freezing cold) take via WhatsApp. I'd explain that melting ice caps lower the overall temperature but'd probably get accused of not having "a sense of humour" for junk science.

Snippet from the New York Times obituary,

"Since his emergence in the 1980s as one of the first broadcasters to take charge of a national political call-in show, Mr. Limbaugh transformed the once-sleepy sphere of talk radio into a relentless right-wing attack machine, his voice a regular feature of daily life — from homes to workplaces and the commute in between — for millions of devoted listeners."

Personally, I couldn't stand him and never listened to him. But a lot of people at work (Boeing) did.

I am not celebrating his death either. I am not going to mourn it either. Nothing of value was lost. The world is potentially better off.

This kind of knee-jerk reaction is really annoying. It's also annoying when people do it on the other side during the summer, or during a forest fire. Summer and forest fires existed before climate change, and winter isn't suddenly banned.

Look at his left ear compared to the photo on the plane above:
Clearly it's not him because that random guy in the top picture has headphone in and Ted doesn't.
