The Trump administration is going for shock and awe with its deportation theater--in which due process is denied and protection orders are defied--so as to dissuade individuals from entering, including those who would do so lawfully using the legal framework availed to them, as well as to persuade those who entered to leave of their own volition, even when they entered lawfully using the legal framework availed to them at the time. Maybe the Trump administration needs to be on the receiving end of some of that shock and awe. Now I'm not necessarily saying that shock and awe should be a bullet in every single one of the rats' heads, but it's a good bet that would service the goal.

I'm fine with them being deported themselves instead. I hear Guyana has a pretty coastal region.

I gotta give props to Cory Booker for his filibuster (which is apparently not technically a filibuster because he's not blocking a specific piece of legislation). This willingness to fight and delay is sorely needed, even if the effect ends up being small.

Also, some unexpected bipartisanship to allow proxy voting for new mothers, though the legislation still has to be voted on. But it did have the bonus effect of delaying all votes in the house for a week.

Any woman who voted against this should resign if they get pregnant since that's what they are implying.

Oh, so it's bad bad.

As an aside, is that a drag queen?

Edit: Highlighting not mine. Anyway I think the part where the bitch thinks import taxes affect smuggled goods deserves the attention (insofar as any of it deserves attention).

Maybe you can’t buy elections after all. Poor Elon.

“ Democratic-backed candidate Susan Crawford will win Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race, CNN projects, maintaining the liberal majority on the court in a key battleground state less than three months into President Donald Trump’s second term.”

This victory, combined with Booker's filibuster and Republicans drastic underperformance (even though both candidates still won) in the Florida congress special elections, is exactly the type of momentum Democrats need right now.

Though, a part of me is worried that this election result will be used as a data point by conservative justices in the near future to argue that billionaires buying votes is actually fine and/or protected speech, on the basis that the ultra rich doesn't always get their desired result when attempting to buy elections. Regardless of how successful billionaires in doing so, this should be illegal. The Citizens United decision was perhaps the biggest miscarriage of justice at the Supreme Court of the 21st century.

Ironically enough, I actually agree with Elon's motivations somewhat. Apparently, there is a case in the Wisconsin state courts about Tesla operating their own car dealerships. It’s against Wisconsin law for manufacturers to operate their own dealerships due to state franchise laws deeming this behavior "monopolistic", and Tesla has been suing to try to overturn it. Screw car dealerships and the majority of Republican and Democratic lawmakers who will cover for them, but nevertheless, I would much rather have shady dealerships persist if the alternative is fascism.

Ah man this made my head hurt.

The country of Canada itself is selling Fentanyl to the US, and the Democrats don't want to penalize the country of Canada for that? If that's how it works, why doesn't the country of USA just stop buying fentanyl from the country of Canada?

Someone really needs to educate Donny "I chug Sunny D" Trump on the fact that the gangs (not the countries) smuggling (not selling) drugs are international. They operate in the US as well. Maybe focus on the US operation so they have no-where to smuggle the drugs to, ya orange doofus!

Too hard for him. He'd rather just blanket punish the foreigners and pretend he solved the problem.

He has to focus on Canada now or it ruins his whole mirage.

Anyone whose bothered to look (& care) knows 95% of fentanyl comes in through Mexico (through US citizens at that). But, Donnie's GOP has to focus on our northern neighbors b/c any news of the Mexico border still having high crossing/trafficking would immediately call his administration into question since the whole campaign ran on it.
