Okay, so last night I took down Sonny in 'Keep Your Friends Close' - I was quite pleased with myself, ran downstairs to top up my armour, and remembering Sonny was by himself near the door, jumped off the roof, came in through the front door, and delivered four Spaz shotgun blasts to his back - about as satisfying as machine-gunning Lance's bullet ridden body.

Anyhoo - I've only got the Malibu missions to go - broke the guy out, but have the rest to do.

So, I've got those, plus:
- finish vigilante missions
- finish fire missions
- finish paramedic missions
- finish cab missions
- one, possibly two of the Sparrow checkpoint missions
- the RC Toyz van near the airport
- two of the three Bloodring missions

I think I've done everything else - apart from the hidden packages - and I'll never find all of those as long as I live. Same for the unique jumps and rampages.

So - if I complete the above (and I haven't done any 'code' cheating), is it ethical to use FAQ guides to help me through the rest of the game that I'll probably never find on my own? What have others done? I know some of you superheroes have probably found everything on your own, but I have neither the time nor the patience.

Here's how I look at it. If the original reason you play the game in the first place is to have fun, and game faq's can aid you in that original goal, then by all means......

Only you know the answer. ;)

Well, that's what I figured - I'd be interested in what others think, though.

 Sure, you just don't want to be called a lazy cheater gaming wimp, right?

:D

j/k

that's not really cheating. Cheating is using codes such as "invincibility" or "fly really far" to aid in beating a game. I don't think that using a game FAQ from www.gamefaqs.com to help you find an item or how to beat a boss is considered cheating; More like looking at it from a different approach. I try not to use gamefaqs.com unless I'm incredibly stumped, though. It's not the end of the world if you use it to find Unique Ramps and Hidden Packages, among other things.

I view cheating as using outside information or assistance. I say that after you've beaten the game, run around for a week or so, feel free to use maps to help you out, but ONLY AFTER you've finished all of the missions and side missions!

I played the game through with no aids what so ever the first time round

Second time round i done all of the side missions firetruck,Paramedic, missions to give me a better chance with the extra health and what not ..

Third time around i used a guide to find all of the hidden packages but that was all ...Because my knowledge of the missions and the game itself are good at this point

So i think you should use the guide to find the packages it makes the game much more fun going into each mission armed to the teeth..

but as far as cheat codes are concerned i don't use them ...:)

Interesting feedback.

As mentioned I will be finishing the missions as listed without outside help, and then use gamesfaq.com to 'finish it off' for the 100%, but I won't use cheat codes. I've only found 45 of the packages at the moment.

Second time around I might try and do the side missions (emergency and the like) and get as many packages as I can before running any missions (might even try that little trick of getting around the wall before the bridges open up) so I'll have some nice 'toys' to run the missions with.

the trick getting round the bridges before you are meant to ?

I don't think that this is wise the game is glitched as it is and doing this could cause your save game to be corrupted later on

This of course is just a theory that i have.. I saw my mate try this trick and later the game kept crashing or doing wierd stuff on him ..I don't know if this had a contributing factor..
But better safe than sorry
Also avoid saving at the Cherry poppers ..By now this should be common knowledge..

When i done the packages i played the missions up to the point that the bridges open up then started my search for the packages a much safer bet methinks ;)

At GTP, you can just call me 'Doug.' :P Actually, I have something like 22 hidden packages.

Oh, and, I agree with Pako.

So in all, what was my contribution to this thread? I'm not so sure.

Interesting comment - hadn't heard that. I haven't had any real issues at this stage - but I have been avoiding Cherry Poppers (man was THAT well timed tip of the year!)

It was indeed for the majority of folk .pity it had to happen to me .But thats all behind me now

Now im back up to 87% complete:D

@sludge the link dos'nt appear to work all im getting is a blue screen :)

Well, I'm almost there. I've got to do the RGB600 playground mission, and I think there's one rampage I know of that I haven't done. I've got all the assets, done all of the R3 missions (ah yeah - except the 100 cab missions! Got to do those) all the stadium missions, nailed all the robberies and assassinations, so I'll be getting an FAQ from GamesFAQ to finish it off.

Got 13 on the keepity-uppity beach ball and a wheelie of just over 1000 metres....

Believe it or not i pulled a wheelie that lasted over 120sec's it was sweet .

If i managed to go the full distance it would have topped the 3 min mark easily

The best place for wheelies is the beach (no traffic to get in your way)

Btw where is the fourth sparrow mission? .I've done two on the first island Vice point ,and ocean beach.
On the second island i have done Little haiti one .Just the last one eludes me:confused:

I got a wheelie for 51 secs, just over 1 km, on a road. Not on the beach or the airport, although i'll have to try it soon. :)
