An important visual thing Polyphony have missed

Another thing they have missed is the fact that the tyes siedwalls don't bulge out a little and also look smaller where they meet the tarmac/floor/road.

At the moment it looks like they are floating on the road surface and the cars don't weigh anything.

Do you agree?

GT5 is still a WIP. we'll see.

JASE72: it's about realism.

And this doesn't look as realistic as what ?

Actually standing by the car yourself I suppose

It would be cool to have reflections of the cars coming behind you, though the game is already top-notch. ;)

Perfection is unattainable, because perfection means that everyone is happy all of the time. That's not happening.

I am typically more concerned about getting around the car in front of me, rather than worrying about how good my car looks in the rear of the car in front of me. (Besides, exhaust dust and such might render any reflection as non-existent after a few laps.)

...Another words, nice touch, but it's not anything I've concerned myself with for the past 25 years of playing racing games.

we want the realism to be increased, not decreased.

Pupik
: if you don't care about realism, don't post in this thread. go play an arcade racing game. i suggest sega rally.

Cool your jets, dude. Pupik only said that he'd enjoy the graphical touch, but that he's not too concerned about it.

Besides, realistic graphics do not make a realistic sim. So suggesting he play arcade racers because a small graphical detail isn't his utmost concern is quite out of line.

Being a bit rude there. And I agree with Pupik - presscious resources can be used much smarter than many "suggestions" that some people usually have.

Besides, next-next-gen console (tentative "PS4") will offer graphic realism as seen below for cars and surroundins, and then many objections in graphical department will be history (but since I do not have any complaints even for GT3's graphics, I guess I find some other things more important than pure visuals - although I love nice visuals :D).

For the sake of comparing:

you are underestimating the importance of visual realism, which is one part of the realism equation. but as most of you know, GT5 is a WIP. it would be stupid to leave it flawed like that.

Personaly I want to the see the reflection of his car in the reflection of my car in the reflection on his car.

Anything less is a poor show imo. ;)

Having said that, perhaps it would be better to have the reflection of my car in the reflection of his car in the reflection of my car in the reflection on his car.

Hmm, tricky.

MrX3m3: i said gfx is a part of the realism equation. i want like everyone else who wants realism, more realism! that means everything needs to improve or else the result won't be amazing, realism-wise. audio, video and physics work together to give us a realistic experience, which will improve even more with new hardware and software that will be available in the future.

if you consider this realistic gfx, then you don't know how to differentiate between realistic and non-realistic.

Dude, even without cars reflecting properly off one another, you can't deny that GT5 is already the most realistic looking racer there is.

The computational power just isn't there for ray-tracing in real-time. And even if it were, ray-tracing would require so much power as to limit other areas, such as physics. And limit them bad, to the point where you have to ask yourself whether or not it's worth it just so you can see cars reflecting off each other.

Maybe when the PS4 comes around, there will be enough power to spare for ray-tracing.

Some people are never satisfied. The graphics and realism in GT5 Prologue seems to the most realistic and physically detailed ive ever seen in any game or any 3D rendering. Besides you'd have to be very close to the screen or have a titan size to even be able to notice your cars reflection on anothers while competing. Which is why I wouldnt be suprised if PD or anyone for that matter really wouldnt have this as a priority.

yaywalter: i never denied that, it's the truth.

what i want the most from PD, is the physics engine to be the best (better than all the available ones so far). i hope that's what the producer wants too.

Soprano: did i say somewhere i'm not satisfied?

the gfx are, but they won't stop improving them. not until they build the RTM build to send it for replication. the physics and audio engine remains to be seen, felt and heard. WIP, ppl. things can change and will change, to the better.
