Andalucía - New Course Maker + Free Roam?

Andalucía / Ronda is a location where we will be able to pick out a course from the roads that are already there.

The course maker reportedly has a new algorithm; that suggests generation, and thus also that the two "modes" of the course maker are very different. I expect the old method hasn't gone anywhere, just revamped and with more themes.

I, too, am of the opinion that the hand-modeled parts of Ronda will be over a much smaller area than 50 x 50 km. Maybe it'll be possible to transition from the hand-made stuff to generated stuff at the extents of Ronda, into an Andalucian course maker theme, which might allow us to drive to the Hundidero dam from Ronda...

Edited to say, that the size of the area will be largely inconsequential if it's not interesting to drive in. "New algorithm" provides hope.

"Interesting to drive in" is a tough call. How many tracks in any racing game are all that scenic? Spa and the Nurb are in certain places, but for the Nordschlieife in particular, much of it is screen to screen trees, trees and more trees. Wildwood? Sand, sand and more sand. But do I want to race in them? Ohmygosh, yes.

I'm hoping that the new Course Maker does offer some nice looking environs, but I won't be expecting all that much because even real life racing locations aren't set in Disneyland or the Redwood Forest. Anything beyond "pleasant to look at" will be a nice bonus.

Concerning Griff's previous (edit) excellent post, in my opinion, GT6 is being built with user options in mind, lots of them. Course Maker options. Mod and bodykit options, perhaps even Race Mod and Livery Editor options. Online options, and a lot of them. The team has to put some extra work into GT6 to make it appealing in the face of some stiff next gen competition. But even as old as it is, the PS3 is still a beast, and capable of delivering some exceptional graphics and gameplay. All it takes is some imagination and determination, which is something Kaz and PD excel at. In my opinion. ;)

Oh, I totally meant interesting to drive. If they're interesting to look at as well, bonus. :)

There do seem to be inklings of more openness in general for the game, which is disquietingly positive.

...disquietingly positive.
 👍 I like that!

I will have to say that with the "boring Course Maker" remarks which come along rather frequently, I can sympathize with them, to a point. I'd love for every track in GT6 to look captivating. But whether the landscape in GT6's CM is all predefined or proceeduraly generated, you can only ask so much of a "ribbon layer tool." Still, I do expect the locations to have some more life and verve to them this time around.

Very nice - background roads look drivable :)

There's some nice screenies in there! And that Ascari photo with the cones separating the track parts, might confirm the smaller parts of the track, and also the fact that there is no invisiwall wall (I hope) separating the parts of the full course.
Yep, hoping the same - would be neat for some cruising!

Hey! Do you see this car flying above the bridge?
Look's like a Ferrari Daytona!!!! Some surprise car? Future DLC? Easter egg?

That's just great! And it's already in the game btw.

Oups!
My bad! I can't believe I didn't see the 365 GTB in the car list as it's one of my favorite Ferrari.
But anyway, I'm pretty proud finding it in this photo ;-)

No, I was told you'll be able to create your own circuit from the city streets in the new Course Maker. 👍

That will be legendary and was one of the things I had been wondering about with relation to Ronda and the course maker so thanks for that info

Jordan, I don't know if you can or will answer this however I will ask. It's with regards to the 200 cars that were mentioned as new for GT6 and so far 130 odd cars have already been announced leaving 70 odd that were supposedly to come in a second reveal.

What I am wanting to know is when you played the version that was the "final" version while you were at willow springs recently can you tell me if these other cars were part of that build, note I am in no way asking you to reveal what any of them are and if they were and that is the case are the other 70 inclusive of the Vision GT cars or are they in addition to those remaining unannounced vehicles? I am asking out of interest as the PD website states over 1200 cars and 1196 is what was showing last. 1195 if you account for the AWOL Delta Wing.

Hoping you can shed a light on this with out so to say spilling the beans.

@sayba2th I didn't get time to play around in the Career Mode, so I don't know. The only ones I had immediate access to in Arcade mode were under a "Rental Cars" menu, which were only numbered at around 25 or so.

Ok cool, I wasn't sure if you had been advised of the details outside of playing the game. Thanks very much for taking the time to answer my reply, it's greatly appreciated. Also while I have a chance thanks & kudos to you for creating GTP, it's a great site and is evolving nicely! All the best

I hope that this will be a great feature. It's certainly looking like it will be!

I'd like to see a PD-made track layout too in the 'city courses', with the track being made to look more realistic with improved barriers etc that aren't generated. 👍

Me too, it would be sad for it to stay as just a photo mode location.

Thing is, today (at the a Ronda event) is the day that it really could have been demonstrated - the gps side of the track creator wouldn't even have to be ready - but it wasn't anywhere to be seen. The fact that it is not ready for prime time even at this stage is disappointing. It is looking like it is months away...

I hope Jordan can get a question in at the QA session at the event about what the road map/time scales are for the features listed on the official 'coming up' list...
