Another of my crazy ideas

First, have at least ten different models per manufacturer in each era (provided it's possible)

ERA 1: Pre-1940
ERA 2: 1940-59
ERA 3: 1960-79
ERA 4: 1980-99
ERA 5: 2000-present

Then, have no used cars and increase the amount of staring money to Cr. 20,000.

Finally, have an aftermarket dealership that can change your car into a tuner/racing edition.

Yea I agree with the idea of having no used cars, and of course having more than 1car/per brand, because as I recall there's few brands on Gran Turismo 4that only had one car on their line-up such as Tickford a.k.a Australia's Ford, Gillet, and of course my old favorite Bentley. :sly:

I like used cars. Oh well, it's an interesting idea.

In fact... maybe Kazunori-sama should have another mode of play, called History Mode in which you race through automotive history. He was mentioning basing Gran Turismo 4 on this concept, of a museum which opened portals to different eras of racing to explore. Maybe this time, we'll actually see it.

Used cars make up a big part of the game...(and wasn't no used cars already one of your crazy ideas?). Granted it could do with some tweaking, but it's still handy, just a case of that thing called "hard work". I ran myself a little contest, two memory cards, 2 files 1 with and 1 without the 100Kcr bonus of GT3, and I actually did better and had more fun with the used car. It wasn't so easy like it was with having the extra cash.

I'd possibly go for the Era thing...but only Era 3 onwards, one thing I did find pointless were cars older then 1960...particularly a certain 2 Mercs and that damn Model T. Hopefully with more '05, along with '06/'07 and maybe '08 cars to add into the game they'll ditch a few of the older ones

I think the 10-cars-per-era idea is pretty good. It ensures a variety of driving styles. however, even the larger companies like Ford had few models in the pre-1940 era. Model T and Model A and a few more cars. Personally, I'd rather not have ANY cars from pre-1940 unless there was an event where they could actually be raced in, and the prize was some uber-huge money, and a super car of some sort.

as for the used cars thing, if it's going to be an online game, make it an online used car pool. You'd sell your car and it goes into the pool. people online would be able to buy it as-is; mods, miles and all. And you'd be able to buy other people's used cars. This might help some people get back the Zonda race car or their 270R.

Glad you mentioned this was a crazy idea because you know I'm going to debate this topic very hard.

* I've already stated my case on No Used Cars. KEEP THE M:censored:F:censored:ING USED CARS! I'm tired of this crap. Just because you don't want them doesn't mean someone else MIGHT want them. Don't be foolish. If you take away Used Cars, it will just be GT3 all over again. Do you REALLY want that to happen? I don't think you want to... * Next point is that not every manufacturer has made 10 cars for each type of car. This goes back to the complaint about not having a car company in the game if there's only one car available. Look at Lister. What are they best known for? The Lister Storm. They also made that ugly LMP powered by a Chevy motor. So what if only one car is availble? I'd sure like to see more, but I don't think every company has made at least 10 cars within a certain time frame. Do you think Scion made pre-war cars? What about 1970s? 1980s? 1990s? No, no, and no. So that's absolutely foolish to say. * The idea of an aftermarket firm to make a car into a tuner or a race car? This is actualy a less crazy idea, but only because of how to execute the idea. Many tuners do the modding themselves either in garages, and many race car people do the racing mods in race shops. Next, you'll want to define tuner and race car. Tuner can mean anything from a regular car with a racing computer to something almost outlandish and flamboyant. I don't think it's going to be possible for every car, unless you want to make a Lowrider out of a 1960s Pontiac GTO (a weird idea I had myself in playing GT4, except for the Lowrider part). Race cars are highly possible. I don't know how you'd want to pull it off. Easiest way to make a race car would be to give it a widebody look up front and in the rear. It works for a number of cars, but not a lot. I think a lot of work goes into providing a certain car for the game, then making a performance version of it. So it isn't like you can take ANY car and make it a complete race car.

I'm not going to brag, but usually I'm the one who has a bunch of ideas in seperate threads. Thing is, I have some ideas people will normally want to get into. If you can collect related ideas into one thread, do that instead of one thread about wanting more domestic (domestic as in your home nation) cars, wanting no used cars, wanting fewer specialty cars, and the like. I try to offer various threads on various topics, rather than various threads on the similar topics. But, that's just a little suggesting from me to you. Can you dig that?

Hear's one of MY crazy ideas - you stop posting hundreds of new threads on marginally different topics on this board, and start posting additions to your old threads as you think of them.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
