Any advice for newbie to AC?

Both. Well, it's best if your in game settings match what you have your video card set to anyway. But there is a separate setting for the UI width and I think it might change if you adjust your resolution, i.e. if you increase your resolution then the max UI width will increase. So if you increased your resolution without increasing your UI width to correspond you could end up with the gaps that he sees. In theory anyway, I'm not positive on this. I just recently found out that increasing the UI width to the max fixed my problem with the UI/menu moving to the side monitor.
I will look into that, but I'm a bit surprised that sometimes it looks allright (full view) and sometimes the vertical bar on the right side and the horizontal bar on the underside of the three screens appears...never when in the game screen though.

Edit: I can't find the seperate UI setting ? :embarrassed:

In AC go to your settings and then go to the General tab. There you should see a slider that lets you set the width of your UI (menu interface), it's toward the top of the list. Increase it to the maximum width and see if it fixes your issues.

The "launcher rendering width limit" ?
It is on 2560 px and the red vertical line is on the far left of the right screen.
If I increase that, this red line moves to the middle of the right screen and the settings menu moves to the left, exactly on top of the left/middle screen bezels...
The 2560 position revealed the left menu icons that were initially hidden behind the bezels in the "drive" screen.
Must have tried every slider I can find, but the windows background bar stays in place.

Yes, that's the one. When I increased it to the max (like 4096 or something like that) it fixed my issue with the menu screen moving to the left monitor, now my menu stays on the center monitor always. This setting should have no impact on the drive screen app icons because it should only apply to the launcher/menu screen (I believe). If I only turned it up part way I got weird results but when I turned it up all the way everything snapped into place and it's been perfect ever since. Not sure if it will fix the issue you're having, it was my only guess. Did you try increasing it to the maximum width setting?

Yep, did not work...
What did happen was that menu went from center to left screen and when I opened "controls", that screen appeared on the central monitor. Clicking on the "back" button got me the overall menu on the left monitor, while the control panel stayed open on the middle...:scared:

That's exactly what would happen to me before I increased the launcher rendering width. Weird that what fixes the problems for me causes the problem for you. :indiff: I'm out of ideas then, all I can suggest is try tinkering with different launcher width settings.

Can't figure it out.
I have another question. A week or so ago I downloaded a modded track (Abbeville) because I need to learn it for track day.
It works, it shows in the menu, it registers my laps, but each time I start up AC I get this:

Abbe.jpg

No idea where to look or what to change ? Somebody ?

Try the official forum, lots more eyes on the prize there.

What does the log says?, it is most likely something missing or misspelled in the json file.
In any case, the most annoying about it is that message, everything else will work just fine.

Would you believe me if I say I don't even know where to look for that ? As a long time Mac user, I only bought the PC for sim racing and I know very little about it (to say the least) :sly:
The only thing that is not present is the map. I can see the car moving around, but no track. Must say that in a video I found from the Abbeville mod, it was not present either.
And yes, this message is bothering me ... :D

Just downloaded and added Abbeville and everything seems ok. It's working, no annoying message. The only thing that isn't working properly is the replay camera.

OK, strange. Replay seems to work OK in my case. Do you have the track map present ?

the J.son file is in the UI folder of your track, you can open it with note book.
it is going to look like this:

"name": "Imola",
"description": "Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari",
"tags" : ["circuit","original","Italy"],
"geotags": ["lat", "lon"],
"country": "Italy",
"city": "Imola",
"length": "4909",
"width": "10m-15m",
"pitboxes": "24",
"run": "anti-clockwise"

if something is missing or misplace it will create messages like to one you see.
It might be easier to delete it and re-download the whole track.

I didn't have any problems with Abbeville either. The json is fine.

I'd suggest deleting it from your tracks folder, download it again and reinstall.

Thanks a lot 👍
Will try that, if something is missing I'll do as suggested.

I deleted the track and downloaded/installed again.
I still got the error message.

Then I checked the J.son file: it looked like the example you gave, but:
- "city": nothing there, so I wrote "Abbeville"
- "length": I removed a decimal point (like e.g. "2.500" is now "2500")

Error message still present when starting AC...

You can check the validity of json files here - http://jsonlint.com/ Copy/paste the content of the json file into that website and hit the Validate button.

I checked the Abbeville json last night and it was valid.

@Fanapryde Go to your MyDocuments/Assetto Corsa/Log folder and attach both errors.txt and log.txt here and I'll take a look.

Edit: Just to make sure, are we all talking about the same version of Abbeville? v0.0.8 from RaceDepartment?

Yep!

abbeville_zps0yeqtksh.png

Everything is working just fine. Even the replay is working but the replay track cam isn't really good.

I got the v0.0.8 from Racedepartment as well.

This is where you have to put the Abbeville file.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\tracks\abbeville

That map picture I have. It is the in game scaled map you can choose to see (or not) that is missing.
And yes, that is where I put my file.

:confused:

Oh, you mean ingame. I think I know what you mean.

Tried it, chose the ingame app on the right hand side and there is no map visible. It says, map.png with a little red arrow.

The guy whom created this track mod, probably didn't put it in.

I don't have that message though.

Had a look at the Abbeville file and there is no map png image, that is why you don't have it.

I think there's a way to fix that but I forget the details. It's something like deleting the map info from the track folder, then when you go back to the track the game will generate it's own new map data. I can't seem to find the instructions, but hopefully someone here knows how to do it?

Or he could try something like this (I haven't used it, just found it during a search).

Thanks for the heads up but I'm not the one whom is interested in Abbeville. It's @Fanapryde

I know, but the first part of my response was to fix the map.png issue you listed. I think there's a way to make the game automatically create a new map image for you.

The link I provided was for him to try.
