The listed cars are:

Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car '93
Audi TT Touring Car
Audi A4 Touring Car
Mercedes-Benz CLK Touring Car '00
Mercedes-Benz 190E Touring Car '92
Opel Calibra Touring Car
Opel Astra Touring Car

Although they're all fun cars to use, I was wondering if anything else can "slip in" to this race series? I want to try a different car for a change.

The PALised Vauxhall—Opel duplicates, the Astra Super Touring Car '00 and the Calibra Super Touring Car '94 are ineligible.

It’d be nice to be able to throw something else into the mix, oh well.

One of the biggest gripes about GT3 AND GT4 is that the race requirements are too open. And now people want to see cars other than DTM cars being allowed into the DTM series?

I think it was meant to find a car that's a bit of a challenge to win with;) Maybe tune it a little, so it's all for a-spec points I guess:)

Take the 190E, add 200 kg ballast, lower downforce, put R1 tires on

Of course!

Do you think the FIA would allow an Audi R8 to compete against Grand Prix cars? No, so that's why we play games.

Besides, I've used every eligible car at least twice. I've never lost the series, either. (It's a fairly easy one to win.)

...why would you want to use anything OTHER than the 190E Evo? It's one of the best cars in the game, in my opinion. It's fast and it can take corners at speed!

Can you use the BMW 320i Touring Car '03 ?💡

I'm really curious about that. A long time ago when I was doing it, I bought the BMW 320i touring car and got sooooo pissed off when I figured out I couldn't use it. :ouch:

I am not sure why they have the entry list so restricted, but hey, it's not the weirdest thing they have ever done is it ?

As for the Alfa being on the entry list, that does seem strange but I have a vague memory of the DTCM rules (IRL) being changed to allow such things.
Not sure if my memory is correct or if that happened about the time GT4 was being designed, may explain it though.

Also for those interested, here is a challenge a friend of mine designed involving the DTCM Cars and the Nürburgring.

Pick any of the allowed Cars; do the one lap 'Ring race.
If you win, use the Car that came last and try again.
Do this for ten attempts, if you lose a Race, you Fail.
If you can win all Ten Races - Congratulations !

Sounds easy but the build-up of pressure can do strange things to your mind.
Beware.

I do. I'd like to be able to enter something else. ...Act like a competeing American or Japanese driver entering something from his country against the local German hotshots. I don't take GT4 so seriously. ;)

If I were playing a game called "DTM Masters", it would be an abomination to have a Skyline show up, for instance  But in GT4 it wouldn't hurt to bend some rules just a bit.

Why can't the M3 GTR Race Car enter? It's a DTM car.

Is it a real-life DTM car, though? Or one of the cars PD made up? Forgive me, I'm actually asking because I don't know. It seems all the cars in the Euro League DTM races are actual real-life autos.

You can't use the BMWs in the DTM because they weren't DTM cars. The GTR was used in sportscar / GT / Le Mans style race series and the 320 touring car was used in the ETCC / WTCC which have completely different rules to the DTM.

Whilst I'm all for a bit of variety you would kind of expect a DTM series only to be open to DTM cars wouldn't you?

Seems not. Many threads have been revived lately by new members (who else would?) or people who still are not familiarized with the words "dead thread". And those which are revived continue to exist. It's a never ending circle.

Mostly due to the fact that anal retentive mods keep telling us to use the search function on almost every new topic made, hence the various necrobumps.

You're all aware this is a 3-year old thread, right?

oh well, I guess there's only one way to learn

Tom Servo - Yes, it is a 3yr old thread Tom, but like the "Posting & You" video says, it is ALWAYS better to revive an old thread than to start a new one, that's why the mods keep going on and on about searching because the new thread will always get locked first (just ask daan! :P)

SabreFire - Same deal with you, the so called "ANAL RETENTIVE" mods are just doing their job and prefer people to search for stuff.......it's not that hard to do and the mod squad actually are very very fair overall, unless you want to act like a complete moron then they will show you the ban door very quickly. 👍:sly: The creator of the thread, Pupik, is someone who enforces the AUP pretty strictly....I know personally, I've copped a perma-warning off him. :P

So what? There's nothing wrong with reviving a thread if good conversation results from the revival. The mods would rather see us revive a thread than start a new one that's already in existence.

Thank you JohnnyFioma. Very informative. +Rep

Ah yes, the Opel Astra DTM, never get tired of its racing paint scheme.., love that car, IMO better than the CLK-DTM.., 👍

One of the biggest gripes that I have with GT4 is that it is to restrictive on the cars that can enter a race. Especially by country restrictions. Now this would be okay if there was lots of races for every car make or class. However there is not. Perhaps what they could do in GT5 is once you have completed the race series and won it that it lifts the make restriction. Or say at 75% complete or something like that a lot of the country restrictions is lifted. Another thing they need to do is let you go to a race first then choose only the cars from your garage that are available to enter a race. I for one want to spend time racing and not trying to figure out what car can or can not enter a race. Although I really really like collecting and driving as many cars as possible and finding the hard to find gems.
