Any recommandations of cars for european race: '1000 miles!' ?

I don't quite agree that KPGC10 (the 1970 Skyline) is overpower when compared with the rest of the lineup. (of course this comment could be very different if you are facing a line up of Fiat 500, VW Karmann Ghia, Honda S500/S600/S800, Subaru 360 or Mazda Carol...

I have B-spec through 3 of the races, with 427S/C, '70 Skyline and Jag E Type. But I have got to confess that if one would like to have a fun racing experience, go for '70 Skyline. I don't know about the case of Alfa, but I don't really like the few Alfas there e'en though I admit that they are great classics.

And @ Digital's Ginetta suggestion, I'd say that only hardcore/dedicated/seasoned players should attempt the 'Ring with that. Fast though it is, it is also very loose-handling, and if you don't judge your pit distances correctly at the 'Ring and Le Sarthe you will be having a bad day. If you do want a challenge, though, that is the car to do it.
Good point, and in fact with that in mind, you definitely do not want to allow your B-spec driver to use the Ginetta on either of those courses or else you might find yourself spitting and cussing at the screen while tearing up your B-spec driver's contract. ;)

Oh, and I also like your suggestion of using the Lotus Elan. It is indeed a fun and forgiving car with a lot of rich history behind it that fits so well with the nature of this event. 👍

'tis true about the Elan being a beautiful handling car, but even standard, it might be too fast for this event. It will definitely walk away from just about any opposition here apart from the Cobra, and I've go a funny idea even the Cobra can be beaten by a standard Elan at Opera and Monaco. A tuned Elan can definitely take the series from the Cobra. The Elan's srong point, from a driver's point of view is great balance. It doesn't understeer or oversteer as such, it just scrubs a bit of speed from whichever axle needs to lose it, and then goes exactly where you point it. It's difficult to spin, and its difficult to even get it out of shape, so it's an ideal endurance racer. It gets such good results because it generates ludicrously high levels of grip. The standard car will get very close to the 2G lateral grip point on SH tyres. It's also good on the brakes.

I'll check my race reports. I'm sure I tried the Elan vs. Cobra combo.

EDIT: I beat the Cobra at The Nurburgring 1000 Miles! event with a heavily modified Elan. Beat him by a minute and a half. Also someone else has shown that an Elan (presumably also modified) can beat the Cobra at the De La Sarthe event as well. So, the Elan, suitably modified, should be good enough to win all four 1000 Miles! events against any competition. If you're not going to face the Cobra, even the standard Elan will probably be too easy, as I had no hassle beating a Merc 300SL at the Monaco event in an unmodified Guilia GTA, which is much slower than a standard Elan.

i raced it in a cougar that i found at the used car lot, mainly because i had the car on me and i didn't feel like paying for a new one (this was at the start of the game). it's overkill for all of the races, but great fun to drive with anyways.

i did try the series with the G4, but i often lost control on fast straights with slight turns.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA 1600

I had some really fun races with this baby on some HARD tires especially round the nurb.

For a fun time in a sexy little car this is what i would choose.

It is also handy because you can use it in a few other races too, it is even a fun little drift car, and when you get bored doing those long races, drifting a few laps is a great (but dangerous distraction)

with an AC cobra, the race summary would go something like this:
start...pass,pass,pass,pass,pass.................................................................................................................end...

lol........I like that. But you missed one bit.

the race summary would go something like this:
start...pass,pass,pass,pass,pass....................................................................(2 hours later)...........fall asleep from boredom........................................zzzzzzzz........................crash...........oh crap, quickly catch up, pass.......................................................end. :yuck:

I see heaps of people say the Isuzu 117 Coupe, but I actually prefer the Isuzu Bellett GT-R. Same power, less weight, better handling, quite fun and more than a match for the lineup's usually served up on that series on my PS2....except the Cobra.

Mafs!!

The Isuzu Bellett GT-R has a lower top speed. But not by much if I remember right.

Well, while trying to decide what to take in this time around I decided to run a little trial with stock '70 and pre '70 cars to see who I could post the best time with.

As usual the Type-E coup sat around the top of the list followed by the SL300. And supprisingly the '70 Skyline sat somewhere in the middle of the cars tested.

I tested a couple good ol' american muscle cars too. The Chevelle took top honors over all, and the Cougar was in the top 5 too. What really supprised me was that the Dodge Charger R/T didn't even break into the top 5 in the cars I tested. If I remember right it was 7th or 8th and 15 to 20 seconds off the highest non american car. Its low top speed of 100mph @ 4th gear red line places an interesting handicap on the car. (I try not to run the cars too far over redline because it perminately kills the HP rating pretty fast.)

Now remember, this was only using cars that I had in my garage at the time, so other cars will affect the results.

So for S&G I took the '70 Skyline in to the 1000 miles event. The competition line up was pretty weak. Out of the 5 bob cars I only thought 1 would give me any problems. The G4. But that was quickly dashed when as I approached Aremburg the G4 went spinning out of control and disappeared in a cloud of dust somewhere in the corner. I finished the first lap somewhere around 30 seconds ahead of the entire pack.

I'm sure if I had gotten a better lineup that it might have been more competative. Next time I try I'll wait to get the Jag and Benz in the same lineup. That should make it more interesting. And if that still dosen't, I'll add a dead body in the trunk. (200lbs balast in the trunk.)

When I looked @ what the heck is 1,000 Miles! I freaked. Damn Euro Events..

Shelby Cobra !? Are you kidding ? He always spins out and takes his sweet ass time and just loses to the A/C Cobra which I doubt there's any difference if I bought that hunk o' junk.

...there is a difference. If i'm correct, the shelby cobra will have faster acceleration due to the shorter gearing. A mid level Bob could beat an A/C in a Shelby by a fair amount of time.

It also suffers from far less oversteer, and, because of the longer gearing, doesn't bounce off of the rev limiter on the straights like the Shelby does. I wouldn't be surprised if it were faster than the Shelby over a lap for the B-Spec driver.

Haha, found the solution. AC is the fastest car that shows in 1000 Miles!

Just buy the damn AC Cobra and everyone else stays puny. I B-Spec him ALL the way with Slow Down and Overtake lol. Kinda sad that if Overtake is off he just follows every car in the way..good stuff ;]
