I didn't know that they made quad-headlight Mk 1 GTis. Is that a swap from a Cabrio?

Mine I just sold was quad too which was original to the car.

I kind of miss it but it had so many problems and I got a great deal on my car from the dealership I work at.

No, they made quad headlight GTI's. In fact most of the ones I know with single headlights have been converted. Im not 100% sure but I think all mk1 GTIs, at least all 2nd generation mk1s, sold in the UK where twin headlight. Twin=quad, you know what I mean.

I'm sure someone here will know a bit more about it.

As far as I can remember, all the 1.8 Mk1 GTIs were quad headlight and all the original 1.6s just had the one each side.

General misunderstanding ;) All Mk1 GTI's had single headlights, except for the Pirelli versions.

Also just before the launch of the MkII VW offered the well-equipped LX and GX versions. Those had double headlights as well.

Haha, nice, I had you look at your thread to figure it out. I had no idea what that was. Cool car.

Queensland and Florida are both "The Sunshine State"?

Almost two months now I've had a GTI. I love it so far. It's got plenty of torque and stuff to make me happy. Fuel mileage and cheap insurance push it over the top. Glad I took a dive and went for it.

Few days after I picked it up.

As it sits now...

Been a while since last time I posted in here. Did some updates over the last month.

Started with new EBC Redstuff pads front and back, with new rotors and ATE Superblue. Then I got around to wheels and suspension last weekend.

Here is post installation. I painted my stock wheels white to match, but I was tired of them and the upkeep, even the ceramic EBC pads gave them a light dusting in just a trip to the store. They were filthy within two days.

Replaced all my front suspension bushings, bearings and whatever one time use hardware there was. Installed H&R Sport Springs and Bilstien Sport Shocks. The ride is firmed up for sure, not as harsh as I expected, though roads here are pretty smooth. I just avoid the bumps if I see any

That dropped the car an inch and a half. Now I kinda wish I would have gotten the H&R Super Sport kit, which is a two inch drop, but I was trying to be conservative, pulling information from the internet as I've never pieced together a wheel and tire setup before.

Wheels came during the week.

18x8.5 ET45, tires are 225/40's, I think I could have gone bigger there too.

Still figuring on a stud conversion and a spacer for the rear wheels, I ought to just get the super sports now, so I can sell what I've got as basically new.

Anyhow, I haven't been back at GTP for a while, figured I'd check back in with a few updates.👍
