B-Spec was awful in GT5. Seperated entirely from A-Spec, no ability to fast forward, pathetic AI, and races that were often longer than A-Spec. The GT4 implementation was infinitely better and it's good that it appears GT6 will be closer to that.

I hated b-spec in GT5. If it was similar to Forza's drivatar, our stand in could learn how we drive and mock us on the track. Instead, they were pitiful. I didn't want to baby sit my driver. That defeated the point of b-spec imo. In gt4 I could setup my b-spec for an endurance race and he can run all night while I sleep. I tried that in GT5 and instead of me being up by 25 laps, I am down by 25 laps. I agree that b-spec in GT4 was much better. Its strange that there are many pros that GT4 had that didn't carry over to GT5. Instead, they took a step back in some ways.

He meant gt4 b-spec type which allow you to change between a.i or player to control the vehicle while in gt5 you can change your driver to another one but not player because it's separated mode.

Yes. You choose up to 3(?) drivers before starting the race, then once entering the pits you could pick who would take over.

thanks for the quick resound finally I don't have to stay awake for 24 hours and do the lemans 24 hours, don't know how many times I fell asleep at the wheel before the patch came in to save in the pits, but now mean I can do a few hours and then jump off and let the AI take control, man I hate the Daytona 5000 Miles race, got bored of that very quickly

Although it was a little unrealistic I kinda liked the tortoise & hare situation in GT4. In the longer races I would do a stint, build up a healthy lead, pit in, Bob would take over and really not drive as well at all, even losing several places, then pit him in and make my way up through the field again. Sure it would be nice if Bob had more skillz, but it certainly made things interesting.

Yes, however i hope they keep the Mid-race save in endurance races, there is no way i'll leave my PS3 on for 24hrs.
I think that should be a shoo in, as it makes sense to return that ability along with B spec swap during pit stops. I hope that the learning AI is much better at passing and takes risks like I would. I hope the learning AI at least has an aggressive mode that you can use sparingly for when you want him/her to push for the overtake or defend his position. This would be interesting to see, but I am not holding my breath with the lowly PS3 being able to do that. But hey anything is possible. Love B spec return to form.

If they have he save option, i will have nothing to complain about when it comes to B-spec, leaving the PS3 on for 24hrs would be impossible for me since i have things to do in life and the power may go off randomly, you never know, main reason is that the PS3 would overheat and stop working, hope PD takes that into consideration, really excited for GT6.

The first 24 hour B spec race fried my PS3. I had to buy a new one the next day. And it was the slim version. So my answer to this thread is yes. And yes my PS3 was fully ventilated.

I was going to ask but you mention in GT4 you were able to switch from your b-spec driver and take over. I only remember being able to switch to b-spec, not the other way around.

i didn't even try doing the 9hrs races, not risking it, i play for 4hrs max and then just go off, playing for longer gives me a headache.
Let's hope PD gives us the best B-spec experience!

I'm unhappy that B-Spec is still a thing. It's one of the most stupid ideas I've seen: buying a racing game just to watch the computer race itself in a dumb manner...oooh exciting!

The main reason why I am using b-spec is for 24h hours races as I don't have 24h of freetime to play and just skip time (x3) finish nurb 24h in 8h only.
At the end, it just your opinon that you don't like it.

24H races are supposed to be a challenge. I agree they're ridiculous for most of us, but that's why they've got a save between pit-stops feature that I'm really thankful for. Just play for a stint or so everytime you play and you'll be done with it.

Oh really? So someone driving for you while you're sleeping in a 24 hour race is a bad idea? Hmm...

Did I say you had to drive for 24 hours straight and forgo sleep, food and other needs? Nope. So...yeah, what was your point? I'm just saying that you might as well watch some actual racing instead of "playing" B-Spec, essentially watching a game play itself, and I say playing with quotation marks because playing actually implies player interaction something B-Spec has almost none.

You don't HAVE to drive 24 hours straight, but have Bob play over night saves you from having to do those hours.

Yes. So much so that I'd be willing to wait for them to patch in B-Spec before buying GT6. Though Dec 11th is the earliest I can realistically get it anyway.

Saving progress in A-Spec enduros was all well and good, so long as you didn't intend to play online or do anything else until you'd finished the race. Having a more developed version of GT4's B-Spec mode - with the likely return of Bob's that level up and improve race-by-race - means you don't have to stop and save at all.

Of course I am! GT4's B-Spec was very useful for finishing endurance races. I'm glad it's back as it was. I just hope you will be able to fast forward the race like in GT4.

I'm ecstatic. Anything to avoid having to get behind the wheel in ASpec and race against the worst sim AI in the business is good in my books.
