ARL Super GT Season 2, Round 5, 26-Mar.

Also, GT300 drivers, if you are in a position battle and a GT500 driver approaches you are not required to stop battling. Its the GT500 driver's responsibility to pass in a safe manner.

While I will choose to be kind and thoughtful during these races, it aint gonna stop me from singing

Popped on for a couple laps just to get reacquainted with Suzuka. Didnt setup my wheel or get too serious just turned a few laps. I was running high 2:05's to low 2:06's. I imagine when I drag the wheel and pedals out and focus in a little more tonight I'll be slightly faster than that but those laps were pretty tight and clean so probably not a ton of room for improvement for me.

Sounds about right. 15 seconds a lap is the usual difference between classes and I'm running 1:50s, though I'm sure Moby, BG, etc. will shave off another couple seconds or so...

Crap...I got work to do. I think I was running 2:08s last night. But that was 12+ hours ago so who knows if my memory is correct.

That was on softs with 2x wear if that matters. I believe we can run softs but that is unclear in the rules. If we are to run mediums id probably be in the 2:08's

I think I was on softs also. With correct tire and fuel wear.

I guess I'll have to run some laps tonight and see where I'm losing time.

Suzuka has always been tough for me. There's something about Degner and Spoon that I can't wrap my head around.
Degner I can wing, Spoon on the other hand... death.

We are allowed to run softs on the GT300 class

For me it is keep tight on the corners and getting good, straight exits. When I try to carry more speed I miss the apex and am fighting the car too much. Slower in and keeping a tidy line seems to get me better results. I am by no means a fast guy though so maybe bad guy or or moby could give better insight.

I struggle with consistency on when to turn in on degner and when to brake for spoon.

Degner, for me in almost every car, is 75 -80 meters out quick slam on the brakes, drop a gear, rotate nose and back on the throttle BEFORE the turn. My nose turn in probably starts around 30m or earlier. I get every bit of that curb. Part two is much earlier braking for me than it looks like it should be, but it's another gear (or two) drop. Since I was full throttle before the first part, I'm letting off for next braking zone almost the exact moment the nose is straight compared to the track.

Spoon...I get all the way to 6th, brake hard at 100 meters (90-95meters if tires are good and I'm feeling dangerous). Down to 4th, gentle cruising and early braking (this is the one part I struggle a hair), down to 3rd and throttle early. It's really easy to understeer taking it in 4th at first, but if hit right your coasting is smooth and prevents transmission braking shaving off too much speed. Patience is key for part one, followed by a little throttle blip and more patient rotation for part 2

Just some random advice from a poor driver who likes Suzuka.

Edit: I DRIVE into Degner....i RIDE into Spoon

Edit 2: This is how I'm driving a GT500, but my GT4s would be similar

You in the Vantage right? That would probably be the more beneficial line to take in the Vantage. Use the torque the car has.

Punk is in the Ferrari, a tight line could work but not sure it has enough torque to take advantage of the straight sections. The Ferrari might have to go a little wider and keep the momentum up through the turns to make the straights work well for it. That would be more ideal in my opinion since the Ferrari handles really well.

So get this...As the timer reaches zero when Ghost selected start race, the power to the whole house just dips a bit, like there was going to be an outage. TV turned off, wheel turned off. I got up, turned the TV back on and as I was sitting down, my foot touches the pedal and my car rolls off the line. False start.

So I take that and think I'm fine. Until turn 1. All the settings from my wheel are reset. F!

I spent the majority of the first 7 laps trying to set up my wheel. Had damage because I ruined someone's race when they ran into the back of me because of my penalty off the line. Not sure who it was, but my apologies. Finally sorted everything out during my pit stop at the end of 7.

This race was truly an adventure.

And here I thought it was just me who made you nervous at the start of the race. Lol

Oh Suzuka! You humble me!!

Despite the entire GT500 field having an off day, it was a fantastic race and a lot of fun. First time I trashed a GT500 mid race....wow, did it go downhill fast!! See you folks at Fuji!!

Probably one of my worst showings at suzuka ever. Just could not get used to the slight changes in the car. Kept driving it like a normal gr4. Spent more time going in tiny little circles

@BGCaligula that was me that tagged you off the start. It didnt ruin my race. I ruined my race 7,8 times after that. I pitted after L1 and Pa was right behind me on the exit...he finished 4th. So i had plenty of opportunities to pull up my bootstraps and get it done...instead i went for the boots and fell on my face, so no worries.
