It appears that he died from old age this evening.

He was one of the first TV sports superstars, almost single handedly creating the popularized, commercialized modern form of golf. He took the game from an elite hobby like polo into an activity for everyman. His closest followers were called Arnie's Army. They followed him from tee to tee, expecting and receiving spectacular golfing. Now he is passed into legend.

They don't make sportsman anywhere as near as classy as that guy was anymore.

He's like the picture they should put under the definition 'Golfer' in his classic attire with that yellow top!
