Assetto Corsa 1.15 Update Lands on Consoles; Ready to Race Arrives This Week

Hey man thanks for the feedback I really thought it wasnt natural for me to be spinning like that but I guess I just need to glean up my act hahah
It use to happen to me often, I make sure my car is straight if I'm going to make contact. The problem has got less with each AI update, I just wished they would turn their stability control off when get hit.

I tried the 918 for the first time in a while tonight. Hard to say if it's better, but it's still a terror. I'm not sure it's possible to brake too early with that car.

I feel like either it's inaccurately difficult to drive, or the P1/LaFerrari are inaccurately easy to drive. I say because it seemed like any time the three were compared in the real world, the consensus was that the Porsche was the most stable/confident and the P1 the least. Exact opposite of AC. I've done 14 straight laps of the Nordschleife in the P1 without any offs. With the 918 I'll have a catastrophic wreck in 6 out of 7 attempts, even if I hold back to a quick cruise pace. It's a real rattlesnake.
My experience of these 3 cars was the same as reviews I have seen. The P1 felt like it wanted to kill you but was controllable, the 918 seamed to be the easiest but then suddenly actually tries to kill you, the LaFa like a 458. This was my experience in game and reviews I've watched. I believe this was the view on The Grand Tour too?

I suppose in the end, any time you have ~1000hp behind you, death is imminent.

The problem I've had with this new AI is that it doesn't seem to always hold to it's racing line. TT Cup race at Nurburgring Sprint GT and I tried several times to make that classic late braking move into turn 1 only to have the AI move over to the right and either PIT maneuver me into a spin or lean on me so hard I slow way down. It doesn't seem to matter how far over to the right I am, they still come over.

The other thing they need to fix is this magical ability the pole sitting AI car has to set a near fastest lap of the race on it's opening lap. Porsche 919 at Spa, the AI's opening lap was a 2:01.9 and it's fastest lap of the race turned out to be a 2:01.2.

I have forgotten what the auto press said, but lately I really am finding the car enjoyable and reasonable. Months ago I found it difficult to adapt and drive it properly, like some others players said at the time.

I have only experienced it once and it was also in the corner you mentioned. It was my own fault though. That particular hairpin requires a lot of turning and traction on the inside line, and the replay revealed that I wasn't turning in as much as the AI car already did. I've seen turn 1 incidents like these numerous times on real world Nürburgring and Spa. Typical racing incident if you ask me, and the new AI is refreshingly random. I'm not saying it's flawless though.

Also, I didn't notice at first that the controller settings and mapping are fully accessible even while on track. That is a HUGE deal in my opinion. Especially for those that want to tweak the controller settings because before, you had to exit out to the main menu, make adjustments, then reload a track. It's so much easier now.

Especially because in my opinion, different cars kind of need different controller settings. Some need to be less twitchy, some more. Same with FFB strength. Some cars need less than others so having it all a mere pause away is huge.

Plus adding Custom Championships. Kunos has done an amazing job at bringing AC closer to its PC counter part and making it a brilliant sim in its own right. I have both versions and I 100% prefer to play on PS4. Though I don't like having to buy DLC's twice because I can't wait to try the new cars. Especially this ferrari pack.

Agree it is easier to drive, but its also a lot more bumpy on the banking at old Monza now as well.

That blokes nicked my voice. I want it back!

Yes he certainly has. Although the strange thing is, he doesn't like using a steering wheel. BLASPHEMY!!!!

You on the other hand know what the real deal is. Wheels for the win!!!

Hopefully the lush, green winter version (or at least that one as an option). I'm sick to death of seeing the same beige dusty desert summer version that's been flogged to death in every other racing game over the past decade.

Really? I always remember people making fun of the GT version for being so green because the real track is supposedly all desert. Didn't know it was actually grassy at certain parts of the year. That's cool

And yes, I do agree with you. I love me some grass.

Plus, we do have sonoma and willow springs if we want a desert track (hopefully GT Sport gets Sonoma as DLC or something. I think it's America's best track besides VIR)

The times for the 'Under Nine' special event have changed - was that in this update, because of the live axle fix?
Used to be 9:13, 9:20, 9:28, now it's 9:16, 9:26, 9:40. Quite a difference.

That's good and hopefully they change all of the event requirements. Frankly they're all unreasonable even for wheel users, let alone controller players.

The fact that only 3 people have earned the platinum trophy for AC is a testament to how unfairly tough the gold medal times for special events are. Plus, Alien AI difficulty is no picnic either.

Yes I can't remember if I posted that on here, I meant to do it. I had asked for this feature because I spent hours testing different cars before that one update and after the update. Not saying they added it at my request mind you. This was needed so much, now I have to take screenshots of settings for each car I need different settings with. Shame we couldn't have individual algorithms for the custom presets. Not sure why Kunos made no mention of this feature in the update.

Edit: Shame we can't organize photos into folders on the PS4 like the PS3.

It was mentioned in the update notes:

Assignable controls interface added in launcher and in-game.

Great that some find it useful to have these settings on-track. I use the same controller settings for all cars though.

That doesn't hint to me that I can adjust the algorithms though. I use the same settings for every car too but I avoid using cars that are super sensitive for any long stint ( Mazda mx5 cup car for example). There are a few cars that I need to tweet the controls for a little.

A live or solid axle physically joins the two wheels, so any impact on one wheel (like a curb) will also affect the other wheel, as they are joined.

Independent suspension doesn't have the two wheels physically joined, so the impact on one has no affect on the other.

Live axles are as a result normally poorer than independent suspension in road holding, however they are generally cheaper, lighter and stronger than independent systems.

That visualization is appreciated. There's just something I don't understand... When driving the Alfa GTA, Ford Escort and Maserati 250F, which are all affected by these new live axle physics, straight line acceleration makes these cars veer to the left. It also seems that the problem intensifies as the engine revs get higher under accleration, and stops whenever I let go of the throttle. Anyone else getting this and what is causing it?

Well at least PS4 organizes screenshot by game. and you can separate videos and screenshots too.

Yes that's a plus. However I have found a solution. I just screen shot the setting, then message them to my other PS4 account. So instead of looking in the AC folder I just go on that message and they're all there.

That's how I upload PS4 screenshots online. It's easier than using a USB drive I think.
