Fanboys, yes we are all Fanboys. I thought calling someone a Fanboy wasn't allowed here? We all want every game to be perfect. Have you seen any recent game come out that has been? They said a fix was coming in April, not the day in April you want or I want.
I dislike the term, "fanboy". If you like somthing that suits you, then you like it. Nobody should label one another a "fanboy" just because someone is proper into somthing. An interest. IMO of course.

Anyway going to town to buy Assetto Corsa back, how long would it take to update? Got GT Sport to play lol.

I do play other stuff. Ac is currently unplayable in any serious or organized way online and i love vgs and used to collect them since the '90s.

No way I would drop my favourite hobby due to a single incomplete game that some blind people defend even worse that pd fans ever did with gt6. Tastes in live and in vgs are not stuff to debate about, but one has to grow up and actually see a game or developers fault, like I.do with pd, sms, kunos, square-enix, capcom, triace etc etc.

Thanks for you smart post and remark, I'm sure you felt really cool after it. :D i

It made you look badass.

It was sincere advice. You seem to be suffering a lot, looking at your posts.

Just let it go man, you have many racing simulators to choose from on PS4.

Either your comprehension of the English written language is very poor or you just choose to be obtuse and confrontational. I *did not* call anyone a "fanboy/s". But then, if the cap fits.............. ;-)

Had a blast doing a lap on The Nord Tourist in my trusty KTM (had to get the GTS out of my system! ;)).

Would you care to give us a brief comparison on the differences in physics/drivability between GT Sport and AC?

If ok I also want to share my thoughts. Keep in mind that I played AC a couple of hundred hours in 2017 and GTS only 3 hours. ANd GTS I only raced with three cars in default setup!

First time I started a hot lap in GTS was Brands Hatch with a VW Scirocco The track is very clean and also the known markers for braking etc are missing (maybe because it is an unfinished Beta?). After 5-10 minutes I really thought what is going on. I completely missed the 'feel of the wheel, car, track'. With AC you have much more the idea that you handle the car and it responds way better on steering, braking changes. Also FBB/T300 is very weak in the beginning.

Then I turned up the FBB, sensitivity, responsiveness. This already improved a lot. But still braking is like floating on ice. For now GTS is more Driveclub then AC or PCars (with regards to physics)

Next time trial was a Subaru WRX on that new Dragon Trail track. Very refreshing new track.
Hey it seems like the car is doing more what I want it to do in comparison with the VW Scirocco. Better connection between your input devices and how the car behaves on track.

Overall AC seems to be a league on its own with regards to physics on console. That we already knew and is still the case. GTS feels like your floating/hoovering over a very wet track (only for now?). I personally miss the realistic physics behavior of the cars on track.

But to end a little more positive for GTS : it is a graphical superb race game (not a sim...) and it has a huge potential. I already pre-ordered the CE edition and I have no reason to cancel that :D.

Again may be this is because of a beta with a complete other testing purpose then testing physics? Time will tell.

Also curious to other racers and their thoughts about AC vs GTS physics, car handling etc.

Back in the day when I was broke, I was much more cautious about spending money. If I couldn't research something I wouldn't buy it unless I absolutely needed it and I certainly wouldn't risk $50-70, sight unseen on something. Caveat emptor and all that. The game has issues to be sure, but unless someone just crawled out from under a rock, when you're short on funds you don't throw money at games without first knowing what you're getting. Just common sense really.

Not to beat a Dead horse here, but I do say it would've been hell of a lot easier to accept if AC had less bugs to begin with. How's one supposed to know that x game has xx amount of bugs if all the reviews are nothing but praising the game at launch, hell even outright lying and distorting claims to defend the game?

That's how the reviewers often get free copies of games in the first place, by not mentioning their problems....Nothing wrong with a bit of "Buttock Kissing". The worst example i've seen over the last year or 2 has to be Codemasters and F1 2015, that game was a mess and never fixed, but the "YouTube community" (notice i didn't say "Fanboy" :D ) made it out to be fantastic, and rubbished other games (Pcars) at the same time. It's how that part of the business works at times. :P

Thank you for your comments here. You said "GTS feels like your floating/hoovering over a very wet track" I get this same feel when driving some cars in PCARS. Have you driven PCARS and can you draw a comparison with GTS?

As much as I am hanging out for GT Sport I am now starting to get a little worried that PD has screwed the physics :-(

Pcars1 is an 'in between'. Also played a reasonable number of hours PCars (>500) in 2015/2016. Some cars indeed feel exactly the same as GTS. Like there is no grip and you just break at a certain point because you know the track (e.g Brands Hatch), but there is no chemistry between the car, track, driver. Hopefully you understand what I mean with my explanation?
Therefor I am surprised that the combo Scirocco/Brands Hatch vs Impreza/Dragan Trail is so much different. And I am not talking about how the cars differ from each other but just the levels of grip, fbb, curbs. Hopefully we get the chance to drive the same car on several tracks to compare and conclude if a certain car has a lack of physics or the track.

I don't have a PS4 so I'll never be able to give a personal opinion on GTSport. The driving on ice/floating feeling seems to plague a lot of sims. iRacing was notorious for that "on ice" feeling for their first few tire models...so I've been told. I wouldn't be surprised if PD does some last minute tweaking to improve the overall feel of driving. You're review of GTS physics is pretty much exactly what I've been hearing from people I trust. I have to admit, I am a bit interested in seeing what GTSport ends up being all about just because it is such a radical departure from their proven formula.

You surprised me!

When i got on track with GT Sport with my T150 the sensation off missing FFB force and details was huge....
Hope really that they fix that, because it isn't neer assetto corsa and even Project C.A.R.S.

About physics.... Just The same opinion.. With all driving aids off... Its easy to drive, push and control the car...Also very easy to maintain a drift...
So i was also thinking more about a little updated "driveclub" physics.

Graphics are good, i would say between driveclub and project C.A.R.S...
The headlights don't iluminate track or cars, the cockpit of the cars... I find that they are too dark and the position of the virtual driver hands....mmm, see them like a Sunday driver, virtual wheel... Only 240 degrees rotation? Even driveclub has full virtual wheel rotation.
Also noticed the lack of brake markers.
But liked the touch of the track stewards waving the flags when someone goes offtrack.

Setup side.... Quite basic like the older GT games.
And good controller optimisation as always.

But i would name it "the real basic simulator".

Knowing that the final version will be mostly online and Don't will feature the typical big GT mode offline... I finaly Don't gonna buy it on launch.
I prefer personally wait and put my hands on the next Project C.A.R.S 2.
GT Sport maybe i will get it when it's priced at 20 bucks for some "extra fun".

It's a whole other story but yeah, YT could have been a great place for finding real information from real people but instead it's turned into a cesspool of reviewers whose bias is often kept hidden. They don't review games so much as promote them under the guise of a review, or trash them as the case may be. I mostly pay attention to the thoughts and feedback of individual players that are actually playing the game and giving feedback on the boards, like the GTS beta reviews I'm reading so far.

Yes Johnny, going back to the F1 games from Codies, there's a well known YT'er from the UK who's made countless F1 videos with F1 2012 and 2013, but before 2014 was released he criticised it for not being very different from the previous games, and for that he didn't receive his free copy, and then continued to rubbish the game after release. But after 2015 was released, he started to be a good boy again in saying 2015 was great (My god it wasn't lol) and is now involved in the Q&As at CM headquarters to develop the game every springtime.

The gaming business is very fickle at times.... :sly:

There is that then there is also that most Youtube reviewers don't get to keep the game or hardware depending on who it is. Some get it for a few days or a week then have to send it back. So they don't get to analyse every nook and cranny like we do since we own it.

Lets face it though, you/me would be kissing their ass as well if you want to survive as a reviewer/youtuber. If you're too critical, goodbye to anyone sending you stuff. You effectively become blacklisted.

I believe its called playing the game. You obey to their conditions or you're out. We'll get someone else to do it if you wont comply. Game developers have even flew some of them out for the praise and success some of them brought to them. Including hardware reviewers.

It is a shame that developers are so insecure with their products - probably because they know they're releasing half-finished games, buggy games, terrible games, etc. Having to kiss developers butts just so you can get pre-release copies and do reviews on your YouTube channel or blog...the state of things is awful. What's next? Then you get the opposite side of the coin where bloggers trash products even when they shouldn't be...or for illogical reasons. Will a developer have to buy someone a real race car and pay for that reviewers racing 'career' just to get a good review from them?

A cesspool of reviewers... tell me about it, right? One of the guys from Inside Sim Racing couldn't stop praising AC on consoles (in a very clever and subtle way) and didn't quite highlight the floaty and understeery feel on a controller, not to mention frame stutters on every track even while hotlapping and generally weak/distant car sound samples.

Oh well. Age of information, eh?

New video of basic driving guide from kunos physics dev Aris talking about weight transfer

Came in here looking for console update news, glad I watched this. The example of softer suspension making weight transfer during cornering more manageable was a sort of light bulb going off in my head moment. I've been struggling with oversteer on a few cars in GT Sport and hadn't really thought to try going soft on suspension. Might do the trick.

Yeah, a softer suspension generally helps the tires bite down better especially if the surface is uneven or bumpy.

Right, in my mind I'm always thinking stiffer = better so long as the car is controllable over the roughest road or bumpiest curbs on a given track. But on a perfectly smooth track, compliance can still come in handy to manage weight transfer when your grip is limited.

I've been pretty much getting away with great times setting up a stiffer suspension/low ride height + soft dampers on flat and smooth surfaces and softer suspension/high ride height + stiff dampers on uneven surfaces w/bumps and elevation changes.

Saw a Porsche 911R at a car show last weekend. Looked at my buddy and said, I've driven one of those...............in assetto corsa. We had a laugh then enjoyed the rest of the show.

Get home and do some googling, didn't realize I was standing next to a car that sold msrp $185,000 but is worth 1.3 million. All in small town Indiana.

Where in Indiana did you see that?

Well, it's not really a surprise they wouldn't make it happen in April, but it's looking good at least.
