I haven't driven it yet since the upgrade, but the Maserati 250F's are 10 times easier to control now that Aristotelis figured out a way to simulate those rear axles.

That almost sounds as if the car went from fun to boring... This is hopefully not to case?

I had a lot of fun with the 250F 6c at the three Highland tracks. Still challenging to set some good times and to avoid the 'invalid time' voice over.

From what I've read they actually seem to be more fun. I'm one that never found them that fun, I enjoy oversteer as much as the next guy but when you're oversteering for 100% of the lap it was a bit too much for my tastes. Sounds like I might enjoy them a lot more now.

I'm considering picking up AC for xb1 using a game pad only. Tired of the forzas and looking to grab something to tide me over until Pcars2 for my circuit needs.
Is AC pretty compatible with a controller? I've watched a ton of vids and the wheel movement looks bat**** crazy and all over the place. The allure of the sim/physics is there just unsure about the controller play

It's playable with a controller pad but it plays best when not pushing the cars too hard. For example, holding big slides is doable on the pad but it rarely feels rewarding because the steering input range is so small compared to a decent wheel. Taking cars to their very limits is something I think is reserved for wheels users. Well, this is probably true in most racing games but I'd say AC makes it very obvious. Expect to spend some time finding controller settings that work reasonably well for you, because let's be honest, the game wasn't really designed to be used with a pad. I've played AC with the DS4 controller since October, and to this day I keep adjusting the settings every so often in order to find that sweet spot. Moral of the story is that every AC player should just use a wheel.

As for animated wheel movement, the craziness of the animation depends on your controller settings. It's a matter of input sensitivity. However, it does seem impossible to get an entirely smooth animation when using a pad. There's always the dash cam, which removes the wheel, if the animation becomes an annoyance.

I'm on PS4 so I can't tell you if the Xbox One version is worth it. Updates for the game arrive relatively late on consoles compared to PC, especially now that the latest update is is struggling to get approved by Microsoft's submission authority. In your situation, I'd recommend waiting until Kunos sorts out the Xbox troubles they are currently facing, because at this rate it could take a while.

@Nielsen
Thanks for the tips
I'm an avid console racer just never invested in a wheel yet as one seems to be compatible across various titles.
I never stopped fidgiting with settings in pcars but controller feels right in the dirt series perse so I'll probably find a cheap copy at GameStop considering their 7 day return policy and give AC a go

If I were to finally invest in a wheel, any xb1 users have any solid recommendations?

I've found that a high steering gamma or low steering speed setting can slow the steering animation considerably so it doesn't look so frantic. Assetto is playable with a pad but there are going to be some cars that your settings aren't best suited to.

I think the Thrustmaster TX is your best bet for a decent XBone wheel that isn't super expensive. I think it's a fairly good wheel too, a step up from the Logitechs.

I just noticed a minor but annoying car-specific issue on PS4. Some of the colors for the Mazda MX-5 NA aren't showing correctly when on track. Blue becomes light blue and black becomes grey etc.

@Donnced, don't you keep some bug log over on the official forum?

Hi Nielsen a lot of cars have texture issues in the game (488gtb,Nissan GTR, 458 GT2.... And go on)

PS_Messages_20170625_043753.jpg

Also new problem /issues came with the new camera settings, because in some cars the standard camera is bad placed now :D
easy to "fix" but the "camera settings don't save more ahead than in that race, so every time you take a car with this kind of issue you have to remember to enter the camera settings before starting race.

For the rest, me self and quite some users get frustrated because we send reports in the 3 ways 505games said us to report bugs / issues (via 505games ticket i their forum, direct ticket system and via the official support forum of assetto / console bugs subforum)
But we see that most issues / bugs are still there after 11 months, nobody care to reply our reports meanwhile in the PC version it's a complete different story... With replies of devs and they mark the post with tags " workaround " "reported" "know issue" etc etc every day..

Meanwhile again in console section, they promised do the same and a post indicating all bugs / issues reported and what they are working around... But nothing after 4 months...

Is discouraging realy and myself and a lot of some good users due frustrating stopped to report any bug more...

Yo can try for yourself, and see if you have luck or not...

Stefano casillo became aware of the Logitech G29 DoR bug still there thanks to a user that started to sending him tweets on his personal account.. And promised the fix after corroborate the problem in the 1.15 update...

Go and give it a try reporting the little issue you found, and hopefully you have good luck...

Now i just try to enjoy the version we received from assetto in some racing leagues until other sims land in console..

A real shame, cause the game has huge potential, but it's far away from his big bro PC version, with a lot of bugs and issues (fps performance including) and a post realese support that really s:censored:

I don't know who is faulty here.... Kunos or 505Games...but it's a real shame. :banghead:

I wasn't aware you had stopped reporting bugs. It's slightly unbelievable that Kunos has remained so poor at communicating with the console community. Having two or three employees translating code to consoles is already turning about to be a problem for them, so maybe now is the time to consider a variety of internal upgrades to the console business. Things can't continue like this, especially not if they intend to create another multi-platform title. There's even an investor now, making the half-stagnant console support and bad communication even weirder.

And here goes another month without the Xbox patch. Its now 4 1/2 month since the last patch.
Yup... 4 days ago they said that the submission was rejected again for the 1.14 Xbox One update.....

They Don't say anything about the 1.15 update either.. If it would be submitted to sony for PS4 or if the 2 console versions has to wait until they are on same version...

Quite annoying this lack of communication.... :(

@Donnced The way you describe the current situation feels a lot like they are abandoning the console version and solely focus on PC. I wonder how long this can/will go on?

The problem is that the "current" situation is like that since launch.
There's a quite big difference in support and treatment in the oficial forums between PC section and console section.

The main difference is that the complete post launch support from console version is responsibility of 505games... And that community manager you see her very little around the console section.

The PC version suport is directly from the Kunos development core team (Stefano, Aris, Luca....)
And they are more active and doing a better job in the PC sections of the support forum...

Now and then Stefano reply in console section and help if you really can make him aware of a problem or a high requested feature...

Its just the way of the console support that doesn't work as it should an like a lot of information /requests / reports don't arrive to the console development team..

@Donnced, you are correct. It seems to me like the game publisher is the one who 100% takes on the responsibility of the role of "tech support". Based on things you've posted here on GTPlanet, along with other console players, it really appears that 505 Games completely blows at providing real support. I don't know if that's the case with every console game, but that's exactly what I see happening here. :(

There is no way they're abandoning the title though. From a business standpoint it doesn't make sense. Then again, people/companies often do what can be considered foolish or ridiculous. So, you never really know, I suppose.

Yup, the communication between users and devs is the job of 505Games.
They do the promotion, social networks and support of console version...

At least now an then we see apare Stefano around doing the "job" that miss CM505 should do...

I really don't understand why kunos simulazioni don't say anything to digital bros/505Games seeing the problems and complaints of the console versions.

Sure that they are a little studio for 3 platforms + VR...

But what's happening is ridiculous and not a good publicity for kunos at all..

Something is wrong there and escape from a rational thinking..

But after 11 month, my hope to see things going better has decreased significantly.

I'm really jealous of the PC version of assetto and the good post launch support kunos offers to the PC users.
There's really a world of difference..

Let's see what happens in the near future, but it's a quite sad situation anyway.

Meanwhile, i will enjoy the best i can the version of assetto corsa we received, at least after 10 months we can finally do some online racing leagues (in case of PS4)

Gamers today focus on the negatives, instead of enjoying what's there. A new update comes out, 2 days later...when's the next update? Kunos why are you telling us? Lord kunos why won't you say how many sugars you had in your tea? Its hyperbole.

Why must they communicate with us every step of the way? Its not unique to kunos. Just because they aren't participating in the console section it does mean they are abandoning the consoles. If an update isn't out or delayed, I dunno, do adult things, like not get so worked up about a game update delay. I want R2R pack but I'm n0t going to focus on it not being out yet. Maybe Kunos could just move on from AC and release AC2 in September with small changes, like FIFa, NBA, F1.

INB4 those are complete games.

I think most active AC players enjoy what's already there, myself included. However, the recently released custom lobby feature is something I cannot enjoy until they fix some of the worst bugs. Hot fixes are needed before I'll use this long-awaited feature, and PC players would surely have received such fixes within a week after the feature was rolled out. I understand that the console submission process is a different beast, but I am beginning to worry my PS4 will grow grey hairs before support arrives.

Most of us probably remember the years where the game disc was all you'd get until the next game released - no internet on consoles and thereby no updates. In general, games were just thoroughly tested back then. Now it's a different environment where customers have come to expect support on a frequent basis after the initial purchase has been made. I think everyone can agree that Kunos suddenly underperforms compared to the average. Small team, yes, but they can't hold onto this reality forever. Kunos still comes across as those few developers who achieved something impossible on a very small budget, but we have seen a handful of announcements suggesting they have been outgrowing this position.

Finally, it's not that communication is expected on every step of the way. We simply hear how they do a very good job communicating on the PC side, so expecting the same on consoles isn't too much to ask after several months on the market. Those responsible at 505 Games are seemingly not up to the task, and Kunos should take note of this and improve.

Haha discs are so futuristic 1990's
I'm from the time that you had to upload a "game" via tape cassette recorder into your hyper modern ZX spectrum or VIC20. You know this kind of stuff:
cassettealamy-large_trans_NvBQzQNjv4BqMYWXqPlKWtx9ElOI9pPj84TbQKgKpEuQJDt5A4g93-k.jpg

We now live in a very demanding consumerization era which also has it's pros en cons ;)

What I like about the Kunos staff and execs that they keep communicating. Also if the news isnot that positive. (e.g. Xbox update)

Isn't it so that the same Kunos people also do a lot of work for the professional raceworld? Sims for the pro drivers in F1 and other classes?
Or is that done by a complete different team?

I had games you had to type in yourself, spend ages typing then the computer would crash then you'd have to start again. Those tapes were bad too. Imagine having to type in a game on the PS4 today, PS6 would be out by the time you got to play it.

The demise of the disc has been painful to watch. Getting retro by now. :(

What system are you referring to? My earliest gaming memory was playing Commodore 64 with my brother. I don't remember the specifics, only some blue screens and horizontal lines flashing like crazy.

I don't ask them to say after 2 days where's my next update guys?

I can enjoy The game (mostly hotlapping, cause bad performance and AI and online since 1.14)

If kunos really want, due being the support of console version in hands of 505games they shouldn't even reply any post in the console section..

The problem is easy to see, look to the bug / issues treads of PC version and compare with the bug report of the console version.

Pc one works great with lot of replies and posts tagged with information about the status that helps the users.

And in console... Only 48 hours after a update realese... And they disappear.. With bugs like sound bugs(still there since launch) , duplicate button maped and lots of bugs that stays update after update, reported back each time and nothing.. Only more bugs incoming...

Since 17th may when 1.14 was launched on PS4, the Xbox version failed submission quite a few times..

So PS4 people start to ask if we will receive 1.15 update or we would have to wait until both consoles are on same version first to take the next step...

But Meanwhile PC version received 4 updates more with fixes...

So for users like me than want to help reporting it's becoming really frustrating the difference between PC version (game & support)

I like assetto, and no game on console match their FFB and physics..
But i have to admit that it's one of the worst post realese support that I've seen (on console) .

I like being able to name the rooms. I want to do that in Project Cars with something titled "Wired Connections Only"

Online public multiplayer is much worse after 1.14 if you want to race in a reasonable amount of time. I have plenty of lobbies to choose, but half of them are either trackday or have ridiculous qualyfying time (people dont understand that having 60 or more mins is not they key to have success at all). From those that I can choose, half have set stabilty control.

If I wanna race in less than 30 mins, I have very few options.

Then there is a bug that consist on that the qualifying time takes forever (is not because the qualifying limit). In most tracks it's a pain in the 🤬. In long tracks it simply kills the game. A qualyfying in Nordschleife could take 30 mins or more after the qualifying time it's over.

I have created a couple of threads on the official forum talking about these problems. One talking about the chaotic mp was sabotaged by PC fanboys with arguments like "get friends", "you prefer to not choose the lobbies". In the other one one dude told me it was because the qualifying limit time, when it clearly is not.

In a forum that barely gets attention by the devs (only Stefano pass by), it becomes more difficult to make clear the problems of the game when the people simply just sabotage the threads.

I don't understand why the hell PC players have access to the console forums. I've seen many posts with the nonsense you're talking about. You would think after 10 months of being available that all PC players would realize there are some major differences between the two versions. I'm not even talking about physics/tire model.

I'm a PC player and I used to roam through the general console support forum from time to time - occasionally helping a person or two with something. I stopped going in there because I got sick of wasting my time wading through those bullcrap posts from PC players.

I would not restrict the access of the console section to the PC user because, like you said, there are some of them that share very interesting information. But there are others that the only thing they are on the console section is to attack whoever criticizes the game (resonably or not).
