Removed complete antivirus, still does not start. I did switch on the " skip intro" when i was able to play the game? Maybe that triggered something? Removed whole game and reinstalled, still no luck

I tried it out for just under an hour, here are my complaints:

• I can't assign Pause to either my wheel or keyboard.
• The "Look Left/Right" buttons only work for a single frame, even if you're holding the button down.
• Even when they've got twice as much power as you, the AI will just keep pushing you if you're on the racing line.
• I had a massive freeze at the start of a race which lasted a couple of seconds, just as I was about to enter Suzuka's Esses.
• Customisation is disabled when you're offline or the servers are down.

The FFB on my Fanatec GT DD wheel felt OK 95% of the time with default settings, but there were moments when it didn't give me enough warning that I was about to slide out. Besides the massive freeze I mentioned, the game ran at a stable 60fps for the whole time I played it. The way I see it, I've made stupider bets with €32.

Well, I gave it a crack running RTX 3060 and 32GB RAM and couldn't even run it on lowest graphics settings. CPU was fine, memory marginal, but GPU was maxing out at about 30-40 fps.

Oh well, will claim the refund from Steam and wait a couple of years for the console release 😥

I've actually been thinking of giving iRacing a crack because the GT7 online experience is leaving me wanting - hopefully the dated graphics engine runs a bit better on my laptop!

I was going to say, WTF, something wrong here. But maybe it’s the laptop factor. I have a 3060, 16gig ram ryzen 7 5700 desktop. I left the graphics to whatever they defaulted to and it was perfectly smooth for my liking, even against AI. The nvidia overlay wasn’t telling me FPS for some reason but temps weren’t bad.

I know most folks here are super picky about graphics though so it’s possible my standards are just low hah.

Unfortunately, after a nice 1 hr session in ACE (my verdict is: it gon b good) I decided to do some hard drive cleanup and SW updates and … my motherboard is toast. Known issue with faulty Lenovo Legion motherboards. The BIOS must have been on 1/2 heart, and when I tried to fix some issues I was having with RGB and fan control it poofed. Unbelievable! New MSI motherboard on the way 😒

The most important thing is that the overall physics and FFB are good. Those are the fundamentals. Everything else is fixable but if those two things aren't correct and the driving doesn't feel right, it's usually a hopeless case. I love what they're doing with AMS2 and classic F1 but the first impression (a long time ago with early versions) haven't really changed. It doesn't drive correctly (or feel good to me). And after all those updates and improvements it still doesn't feel good (to me). Some people praise the AMS2 and that's great. I'm not saying I'm any kind of authority but to me the driving feel is not even close to AC1.

This has a lot of potential because those two things are well made. I love how it drives. Is it better than AC1 driving feel? Difficult to say before playing it more. I'd say it feels just as good. Driving over the kerbs seems to be more realistic (maybe) and as I said before they have managed to capture some extra feel of cars "tilting" when driving through corners. I really like that.

AC1 driving and FFB have always been amazing. How much you can even improve that?

Two old cliche's but true:

1. Don't fix what ain't broken and

2. Don't try to reinvent the wheel" (pun intended).

Good that they haven't screwed up things that are so good in AC1. It could be MUCH worse. Remember Project Cars 3? They took everything that was good in PC2... and threw it away.

I think the ai was the point that instantly kill all my beliefs in AC EVO in 2 secs. (more than optimisation, horrible UI etc...).

I started a race and 2 sec after the start ALL THE AI completely turn their wheel to the max to find the "ai racing line". I was like, damn 10 years after AC1 nothing has changed.


We are not doing conclusions, we are describing what we see on a 32€ product.
Thinking that thing will be completely rebalanced in 6 months or 1 year is also tricky for something in developpement for years.

I think nobody is happy to see what we have actually.
We love kunos and actually, the result is not good.

What does your work look like when somebody checks it 1 year before the deadline?

I purchased EVO yesterday. Looks good but is totally unplayable on my system. It is older but I can play AC with everything on full with fifty five cars at LeMans and the game runs great. Just one car with minimum everything and the game runs so chunky I can't even finish a lap.

System: I7 - 9700 @ 3 GHZ
16 GB mem
NVidia GF GTX 1650 w/1 GB

Definetely bound by GTX1650. That is just not up to the task for any modern games. If you are able to find a 2nd hand RTX3060TI, I still think that is the best bang for buck. 🧨💵

It is definitely a GPU intensive game at the moment.
I'm running an i7 8700 CPU and RTX 3060. My screen is 4K so currently I'm forced into running the game in 4K as well (would prefer 1080p for performance) but am running with 60 fps alone or with some AI cars. The GPU usage is pretty high though, and I'm running on low.

The 1650 should have 4GB Vram, right? Not 1GB. Still that might be the source of your issues

This made me think. It seems the performance experiences are quite divided. Could there be some balance issues with intel vs amd or amd x3d vs non-3d?

Yeah I dunno, could just be the fact that it's a laptop. GPU was running at 100% even at lowest graphics settings.

Oh well, gives me a year or so to contemplate a proper sim racing PC. Evo does look good from the early videos, so keen to follow it's progression through early access.

Ironic that Geoff Crammond's ancient GP4 still has the best looking crashes. Sure the crashes themselves weren't all that realistic looking but the visual part was pretty well executed. And that game is now 23 years old.

First very tentative impressions are pretty damn good considering I wasn’t expecting much given the somewhat mediocre views of people not understanding what early access means, first off the amount of button mapping is insane ( all I wanted was to cycle through camera views, still don’t know how to) 😂
I stopped chasing FPS after years of Flight Simulator so if it looks smooth then it’s fine by me, set DLSS to ultra quality and it’s melted butter and looks pretty darn good too..
Took the M4 around Bathurst and out of the box FFB feels really good, you can actually feel the weight of the car and know exactly what’s happening when you mess up.
Haven’t tried a race yet, just trying to see around the myriad of options available for buttons and such but yeah, it’s a promising start and think eventually this will be my go to Sim for quite a while… best move I ever made was to go PC and ditch the console

Ironic that Geoff Crammond's ancient GP4 still has the best looking crashes. Sure the crashes themselves weren't all that realistic looking but the visual part was pretty well executed. And that game is now 23 years old.

I'm sure I read somewhere that they said manufacturers were more restrictive than ever about damage on their cars, so it's unlikely to amount to a lot when added. I think the days of good damage on licensed cars are long gone unfortunately, as manufacturers just won't permit it.

Just drove about 15 laps around Brands Hatch with the Camaro. I really like how it drives. Really, really like it.

The only thing that is probably off is that you can save slides from pretty unrealistic speeds. In AC1 I would have made a spin when it started to oversteer at 120 km/h whereas in EVO I was still able to "save it". I think it felt a bit unrealistic. This can be due to some settings, can be just RWD Camaro related thing... TC... whatever but it's probably a bit too forgiving. Could be my settings too which are probably too easy (I have to check). But other than that it's a lot of fun. I really like how the car tilts on the corners (I moved the camera to very close cockpit view). They have combined ACC's and AC1's driving feel and I think they've done very good job.

It's only a hotlap sim for now as the AI is laughable... but then again AC1 is still only a hotlap sim on consoles... 10 years after.

Trust me.... this is going to be a great sim. But I doubt it can replace AC1 anytime soon. The great mod content we have on AC1 is just too much to be replaceable. I think EVO will be just another alternative sim like ACC and LeMans Ultimate (which by the way is pretty good sim if you haven't tried it).

Haven't hotlapped street cars in ages... just played my AC1 F1 seasons. Forgot how fun it was.

To those who have played VR in this game: how's it feel so far?

Very weird is the only way I can describe it so far. The main menu looks like a PS1 game, but the last NVidia driver was December 5th. I have a feeling that's part of the issue. Even with my 4090 / 13900k, it's extremely poorly optimized, but I was expecting a lot worse. While in game, the cockpit view looks great (aside from the passenger side mirror being blacked out), but the track detail is terrible. View distance isn't the issue either. It's just very pixelated and blurry. Framerate is very stable though. For some weird reason while playing in VR, the game thinks I'm running an AMD GPU and only allows FSR settings. If I lunch with just my monitors, it allows DLSS.

My overall impressions so far are very positive though. Drove the Porsche 911 Cup around Bathurst for about 5 laps. Using a Fanatec DD1, I think the FFB and detail is extremely good. I can feel the car losing grip in the front. The sounds are amazing IMO. The wind noise, chasis creek, transmission noise are spot on. I'm using my Logitech Z906 system so maybe that's helping? Not a fan of the PC3 techno menu music. It instantly felt like I was about to start playing PC3.
