I just unticked Full screen in Settings-Assetto Corsa-Video as per an @Masscot post about crashing to desktop after exit the car and ended up with the same symptoms you describe above so maybe that is the whole problem.
I think it is, i just tried it and now have 70% gpu and 16% cpu at a solid 90fps. I am not confident as i think i had the issue before unticking full screen but as of now its working!!!

I run a G2 with a 6800XT which is pretty much identical performance to a 3080 so I am happy to share my settings.

1. I use CSP version 0.2.5-preview1
2. I use the latest Pure
3. I use LCS not Gamma (that is automatically selected if you load in my settings file below)
4. I don't use SteamVR I use OpenXR - https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/

In-car OpenXR toolkit settings

Performance Mode -
CAS On
CAS 70%
Turbo Mode On

Appearance -
Post Processing Off
System Override Resolution Yes - (2837x2763 gives me solid 90fps driving hot lap Ferrari GTO at Brands Hatch GP at noon)
Motion Reprojection Off

Here are my other settings - NOTE: I have Anisotropic Filtering forced on at x16 in my GPU software

and manually edit the Settings-Assetto Corsa-Video as per the image above

I don't claim to have the best settings and rather drive than spend endless hours tinkering with them but I hope this helps.
If not get back to us.

VR Sim Racer
Thanks for your settings, i will try them out when i feel i have fixed the main issue 🫰. Very interesting how different your cps is to mine although mine were for steam which i was happy with until it started all my problems. Your performance mode will be useful to try for sure. thanks again

Thanks to all of you who trying to help me with this really strange issue.
I was ready to put an axe through the entire system earlier today.
I am sure now it is not a settings issue.
All i can achieve even with a slot to see through and res turned down to 1000x1000 is 60fps. The cpu is running at 130% and GPU is also in the red. I have re downloaded openxr toolkit, OC, openxr for windows tool kit and i even deleated windows mixed reality portal not knowing if it was still on the app store. I have tried with toolkit shut down, PP shut down, cps to older versions and nothing changes....However, earlier i noticed skybox reflections had moved to 150%. Strange and does not do much anyway so i moved it to default where it belongs and hey presto, relaunched and now back to my solid 90fps!!!!
Unfortunately, not the end of the story, as soon as i started using openxr toolkit the problem came back for christ sake!
Possibly not related, my audio keeps reverting back to 50% from my 100% setting.
Using my monitor the system does not even brake into a sweat, maxed out settings and cpu 20%, gpu 40%, over 155fps even though i set the max to 144fps.
A real mess it seems
I had exactly the same problem and the fix was to start "Task Manager" obvious fix !!!. Glad I could help.
I was not joking this is a valid fix. cntrl-alt-delete to start Task Manager.

Hopefully that's it.

I reread what I wrote rather quickly and just to be clear to anyone else who reads this thread :-

Unticking ''Full screen'' in Settings-Assetto Corsa-Video trashed my performance and locked me to 60fps and

Ticking ''Full screen'' in Settings-Assetto Corsa-Video had me running at a smooth 90fps.

Yes, it is fine now. Am playing with your settings right now. Am struggling with your neck fx :ill:

Thanks but tried that first. There was nothing obvious that stood out unfortunately. As of now it was fixed by ticking full screen i believe.

If you're getting motion sickness you should locate the Lock to Horizon setting and turn it on. I can't remember where it is but a DuckDuckGo search should find it.

I could see you had neckfx ticked so I didn't check lock to horizon. I'm definitely in the lock camp. Can't help thinking the earth doesn't move around us, we move around it because we weigh less! I know everyone has different views on the subject.

They must be doing this deliberately to troll us.
Once again, a very promising new PCVR HMD that seems to tick all the boxes... then shoots itself firmly in the foot.
This time: fresnel lenses.
In late 2024.
On a brand-new HMD.

I wish I was joking.

Seems like fresnal lenses are the least of the HTC Vive Focus Vision's problems....

How could HTC get this so wrong?

Edit: yet this guy loves it.

Who to believe?

Expensive for what i am finding out about the build quality of them all i feel. I am a heavy user of the headsets so they do not get an easy life with me to be fair.
My 1st was a very good Rift S that i broke the front strap plastic loop on quite a few times and ended up with a none functioning cable which was impossible to replace at a sensible price (lasted maybe 2 years) so upgraded to a Reverb G2 V2. After around 18 months max that cable also started playing up and was now impossible to replace at a sensible price plus it also broke the front strap loop at around the same time. Luckely, i found a second hand hardly used boxed G2 worth the money. I used the cable and moved the rest on prefering to keep my now modified head unit as i knew it would also break in the same place.
I dont think i wear them too tight and i believe the constant flex around the head unit as it hinges causes the cable to fail in that area.
I have now removed any cable clip on the G2 and i think it has a much easier time flexing when i remove it from my head.
My front strap is now held by two small clothes hooks that butt up together held on by epoxy glue and is going nowhere now.
Life expectancy is not great with these headsets in my opinion so i am reluctant to pay the large prices asked for some of these headsets.

I need VR related advice on GPU.
My trusty GTX 1080ti no longer works after many years of outstanding performance.
Been looking for a replacement. Most likely used.
After reading a lot of information and looking at many comparison I am even more confused than when I started.
Specifically to G2 VR usage, 100% SIM, mostly AC, no other consideration.
Which NVidia model are best for my usage, what spec really matters, is pixel rate key to VR?
Beside the obvious RTX 3090 or RTX 4090, which are too much money.
Would the RTX 4070 TS be a particularly good choice price/performance for VR.

I think the RTX 4070ti is probably an excellent card however if you are buying used and cost is a consideration then a RTX3080 is excellent bang for the buck at the moment and offers good performance at a sensible cost used.
As for getting good performance with a Reverb G2 and any card, it is all about choices. There are many ways to get the look you want and as i am sure others will agree, it can take hours to perfect your graphics before you quit trying and even then go back for more experimenting. I recently changed to open composite with openXR so had to start again with my tweaking which i am now happy with.
Anyway, a RTX3080 will do the job as long as you have a good cpu. I run a 5800X3d which i hope will not choke a 4080 which i plan to aquire soon. With VR it is always a compromise but most will never go back imho

I have an RTX 4080/i9-13900KF combo with the G2 and open composite with openXR, and have everything pretty much maxed out in AC settings. Performance is unreal and the image is pin sharp. Huge grids in any weather don't seem to tax it at all. Always a solid 90fps.

I have a G2 with a 4080, i7-13700K and everything runs smoothly at a constant 90fps. I have almost all graphics specs maxed out (within reasonable limits). I think the only way the fps will go below 90 is if I put on a night race in the rain with 30+ AI cars.

Wow, what resolution are you two running your G2s at? 3156x3084?

Rain destroys my fps and headlights are taxing.

Do you use OpenComposite with the OpenXR toolkit? It's like another GPU is running in parallel. Performance gains are extraordinary.
Yeah, but I wouldn't say performance gains are extraordinary for me. Maybe 5% if anything when I tested it against SteamVR. I have Turbo on, Motion Projection and post processing off. Maybe I'm missing something. Possibly foveated rendering???

Yep, use foveated rendering. With the G2's small sweet spot you can use it without any visual compromises.
