But why do you think that? Meaning, what's the difference that you notice?

And also, why should AC work better at 900?
I don't see how that makes sense.

I forget the exact reason. I've had a lot of wheel issues and have read a lot about wheel settings so it's one of those things I remember but not the exact reason. But when I used my T300 I always made sure it was set to 900 because it felt better.

I'm assuming you know 1080 is for trucks and such type of vehicles?

I don't get this.

Shouldn't you just set the wheel at its maximum rotation (1080) and then leave the game to do the rest?
I know the game doesn't have a 'soft lock' option, but the ratios for each car are adjusted by the game.

Note: let's leave ver 1.09 for the consoles out of the discussion.
Just done some testing and my T300 doesn't match 1:1 if I use 900, but for 1080 it's an exact match. There's not much in it, and it's only slightly out, but definitely not in sync with a lower DOR. Leaving it at 1080.

2 days left!

So PC players will have 24 Porsche models to spice up the holidays while us console players are stuck with 8. On the bright side, more time to focus on work that needs to be done. Besides, something cool happens in early January. That's a new!

Bad comparative... Cause now the console versions(1.09) are on par in physics and tyre models with the PC version.

So, you should try again now on the new version.
Agreed, but it's not easy to leave the pc version and go back to xbox ;)
80% of my time on the pc version goes to try new mod tracks i've never driven on.

 i can understand that very very easily..
If it was my case i really wouldn't go back to the console

I fall into the trap where I'm trying new cars and tracks out all the time, instead of practicing with only a handful of cars and a handful of tracks. Learning more and more about each combo. That's the only way I'm going to get better. Sometimes I feel like deleting ALL of my mods and just focusing on Kunos cars and Kunos tracks. But then I think, "But I like those cars and tracks!!!!!" I'm like a big baby.

I think most of us are like big babies playing with our toys

I have recently purchased "Project Cars" and like it very much. The physics seems a lot better than GT6 and the AIs difficulty can be adjusted from 0% to 100% and they race clean from standing start. I am also thinking of trying AS but I see a lots of negative reviews from Amazon which makes me hesitate to buy it. I would like to hear some honest opinions of the pros and cons of AS comparing to something like Project Cars, GT6 etc. Note that I prefer realism and drive without aids (except ABS) on Thurstmaster T300 Alcantara Edition Wheels. Thank you in advance.

What is AS?

I'm assuming PS4?

Check some reviews in this thread.

Your Assetto Corsa Reviews.

Especially @Scaff he tends to be amongst the most balanced and points out the bad as well as the good.

If you are intending on buying AC for PS4 then I would advise you to watch this review by dyr_gl:

But if you are thinking of getting the PC version don't bother with reviews, just buy it.

@FSportIS

You mention in your post you prefer realism, the realism of physic amd force feedback is superior in AC to any other title available on PS4, so if driving and racing AI is what you are into as opposed to Pre arranged event and so called career, then you will not be disappointed. You have a good wheel, you are already half way there on your quest to a good SIM experience, all you need is a good driving simulator to really understand how good that wheel really is, Assetto Corsa will take you there.

Wow, I really appreciate so many inputs from you all. It looks like a buy for me. Could I also have your specific opinions on the following:
1. Physics: Seems like second to none on PS4?? How is the tire, brake and suspension model?

2. Force Feedback: Does it mimic real life car? Do they also factor speed into it? (slower speed with heavier FFB vs. lighter FFB on higher speed). Do they factor tire into account? (softer compounds has higher FFB while harder compounds gives you more feel, more warning and time to counter steer to recover from a spin)

3. Track: Are all tracks laser scanned? How accurate are they? I care a lot about Big Willow because I actually drive on this track in real life.

4. AIs: I thought Project Cars really nail it right with difficulty adjustment and clean driving and passing in general. They also nail the following aspects while GT6 fails all of them.
4a: Will AIs use you as brake assistance such as crashing into you from behind?
4b: Will they take alternative lines?
4c: Will they pass you cleanly?
4d: Will they cut corners?
4e: Will they have different physics and braking points? I notice that Project Cars have some cars on some tracks having impossible braking points meaning they can brake ridiculously late without crashing or spinning out and your human cars cannot replicate this.
4f: Will they adapt to your pace and driving style?

5. How good is the default FFB? I thought Project Cars does it wrong, default settings suck and I don't want to adjust millions of settings. I just want the FFB set similar to what a real car does and the game should have that as default.

6. Fast and simple: Pick a car, track, and condition to drive. Project Cars nails this! I don't care about career mode nor spending time grinding for gold/money to buy car (GT6 fails on this).

7. Do they have leader-board for hot lapping showing the best to worst time for many different combination of cars/tracks? Can you filter it by car/track/aids used? I use this a lot to monitor my own performance. Specifically I would like to see something like this http://pcars.13ms.de/#/times/697498609?vehicle=65306143

8. Tuning: How good is tuning? I generally spend little time on this but good to have.

9. Cars: Do they have Lexus LFA, Nissan GTR, Lambo, Ferrari and Porsche?

10. Sounds: Do they model the real sound or some generic vacuum cleaner sound like GT6?

11. Third party apps: Do we have apps that help you analyze your telemetry data?

3. Track: Are all tracks laser scanned? How accurate are they? I care a lot about Big Willow because I actually drive on this track in real life.

As far as I know - all tracks, with the exception of Zandvoort which was made from official CAD data, and Black Cat County, which is fantasy, are laser scanned.

just buy the game and you will know. If you do trackdays then 50bucks is nothing......
As a trackday racer myself, I find AC(after 1.7 patch) quite good game, there are stuff that feels odd here and there but it is worth the money, that is for sure.

1. Physics: Seems like second to none on PS4?? How is the tire, brake and suspension model?

Top notch. Tires and brakes is what can point out as being very good, The way the wear, fade and temperature influence their work is fantastic. As for suspension I can't really say.

I never noticed that kind of degree of FFB. Of what I can tell of memory, yes the steering is a little bit more springy at high speeds. FFB in general is very communicative, but I never noticed difference between compounds other than mechanical grip. Oh, unassisted steering cars have havier steering, if that counts for something

3. Track: Are all tracks laser scanned? How accurate are they? I care a lot about Big Willow because I actually drive on this track in real life.

No Willow Springs. But what @SVX said.

4. AIs: I thought Project Cars really nail it right with difficulty adjustment and clean driving and passing in general. They also nail the following aspects while GT6 fails all of them.

4f: Will they adapt to your pace and driving style?

a: Generally, no. But they are prone to mistakes.
b: Never noticed that.
c: Generally, yes. But they are prone to mistakes. More so if you cross in front of them while they're on a line.
d: Not that I noticed
e: Again, not that I noticed.
f: They have a preset of percentage strengh. Your skill has to keep up with them, they won't adapt to you. I think :P

5. How good is the default FFB? I thought Project Cars does it wrong, default settings suck and I don't want to adjust millions of settings. I just want the FFB set similar to what a real car does and the game should have that as default.

Plug in and play. It is pretty much perfect from the start. I've had the game for a year and half or 2 on PC and the only thing I changed was increasing weight to the wheel because I like my steering heavy.

6. Fast and simple: Pick a car, track, and condition to drive. Project Cars nails this! I don't care about career mode nor spending time grinding for gold/money to buy car (GT6 fails on this).

Again, plug in and play. AC is pretty much a hotlap simulator. There's no career worthy of the name and content is kinda shallow. No grinding needed. You get everything from the start.

7. Do they have leader-board for hot lapping showing the best to worst time for many different combination of cars/tracks? Can you filter it by car/track/aids used? Public leaderboard, no. Your own leaderboard with your data only, I think so, yeah.

8. Tuning: How good is tuning? I generally spend little time on this but good to have.

Your generic stuff. Suspension, tires, aero, fuel, transmission, alignment and a couple more thing. Not extensive, but gets the job done.

9. Cars: Do they have Lexus LFA, Nissan GTR, Lambo, Ferrari and Porsche?

Not to the LFA. ~Yes to the rest.

10. Sounds: Do they model the real sound or some generic vacuum cleaner sound like GT6?

Sound are pretty good. Some are bit "eh" but in general they are well modeled.

11. Third party apps: Do we have apps that help you analyze your telemetry data?

PC only mods.

There are no leaderboards on console but you can always measure your times against the RSR Leaderboards.
