Can anybody give me some help? I have a problem related to fps and vsync:
-Playing on the screen of my laptop I get 45 unstable fps on the start. When I pass 3 or 4 corners I get 60 rock solid fps.
-Playing on the screen of my tv, I get 30 or 60 fps. Nothing in the middle. If I disable Vsync I get more progressive performance, but without vsync it's pretty painful to play.

PD: Sorry for the double post.

edit: Solved! Fast vsync is the solution.

Thank you for providing your solution. I can't tell you how much I hate it when people write back "EDIT: nm I figured it out..." and you never hear from them again. Post the solution in case someone else runs into that problem, jerk! You did it the right way @SlimCharles. 👍

Hi guys, Im having a problem with AI races. Almost every race, the AI makes a pitstop halfway through the race, even whithout fuel and tyres consumption and on races only 5 laps long. Its really bugging me, as you can be having a nice battle on track and all the other cars pit at once and for no reason. With some cars I dont have this problem, but with most I do. Can anybody help me? :boggled:

The AI is not prepared to pit. You can not change that pit strategy (maybe you can by changing some values in some ini file), so it's pretty useless because; like you are saying, they have very bizarre and useless pit strategy.

So if you are going to play with the AI, the best thing is to set fuel consumption and tyre wear to 0. Maybe it's possible to play with it with pit stops: by using Content Manager you can set what tyres they use on the race (so everybody has the same tyres and nobody has advantage). So maybe you can set a number of laps that will force everyone to pit (knowing that every different AI uses different fuel set up) one time but no more than that (some people will pit at the beggining and some at the end). Problem is that they AI that carries more fuel will have the loser strategy.

Thanks.
I noticed that only with Huayra BC.

Don't know where to ask then here: how to get in some minor PS4 Cups and Leagues?

I want to race with someone...

Not so active I admit (with real life and other games kicking) but I absolutely adore AC!
Cheers!

Im having another issue.. The ffb (T150) is a bit laggy compared to PS4. This means that when I turn the wheel very quick, the ffb doesn't seem to follow completely, and it does (for a very small moment) force in the wrong direction (turning left, the car oversteers, turning right to correct, the ffb for a small moment does force to the left).

I solved almost completely the problem with the filter slider, but I think I still have some lag. Any ideas?

Hi everyone.
Started yesterday on AC/PS4 with my PSN account.
Wanted to play online but PS granted me only a 48h account ... do I have to pay something?

Disable vsync?

Yes. Check the PSN for details.

I thought the physics engine in AC was separate? I.e. not tied to the graphics? How will fiddling with the graphics (v-sync) help anything with the ffb lag, which surely is derived from the physics engine? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something. :)

It's pretty well-known that using vsync introduces input lag. Don't think it has anything to do with the game physics, it's just the delay between when you turn your wheel and when the monitor shows you turning your wheel which creates a "lag" because you're seeing your actions happen slightly after they actually happened. Pretty sure this has everything to do with the monitor and nothing to do with the game physics because the game is still honoring your request, it's just that the monitor doesn't show you this until slightly after your request, but I could be wrong.

But what I say it's not only a matter of the graphics. I feel that the ffb is not quick enough compared to consoles.

Like I said, turning right and oversteering, when I turn left to correct the rear of the car, there is a small moment the force feedback is still making force to the right. It's like there is a small delay between what is happening on the screen and what is happening on the ffb. Yeah, that's the best deffinition.

And that seems to me plausible enough to be related with vsync. Havent tried yet though.

That's well known yes, but since he wrote "the ffb doesn't follow completely" and not "the wheel on the screen doesn't follow completely", I thought the problem might be elsewhere.

Anywhoo, @SlimCharles, if you want to disable v-sync: If your fps is significantly higher than your screen refresh rate (and you have an nvidia card) then you could also just try Fast Sync and uncap your framerate. That way your screen will stay at its fixed refresh rate and the fps will fluctuate above that. This will reduce input lag significantly while eliminating screen tearing. The only downside is that since refresh rate and fps are different it will introduce frame pacing issues, i.e. micro stutter. But this should be minimal if your fps is way above your refresh rate. Give it a go and see.

I have fast vsync activated. I could not use "normal" vsync because it caused massive sttutering (from 60 to 30 fps). Good to know what it actually does.

I don't really think that problem has much to do with vsync or fps, sounds like something else is going on. I was simply commenting on his comment that disabling vsync automatically introduces screen-tearing and was letting him know there are ways around that. When I was on monitors I usually left my fps uncapped and vsync disabled, I had no screen-tearing or micro stutters or noticeable input lag (YMMV). I think at some point I enabled Fast Sync too, as you suggested. 👍

Hmmm, so does that mean that your fps often goes below 60 fps, i.e. below your refresh rate? That will always produce stutters when using v-sync. The only real way to fix that is to use G-Sync, which involves buying an expensive monitor. You would probably be better (and cheaper) off getting a faster graphics card. Well, not nowadays maybe but under normal circumstances. :)

I cant. I play with my mid-crappy laptop :dopey:

Actually stuttering is not a problem anymore after I discovered fast vsync. I could use normal vsync, but it's not a practical solution. I would have to set a very poor graphic settings in order that it never goes bellow 60 fps.

I just bought the Ultimate Edition after having no previous experience at all with Assetto Corsa aside from watching YouTube videos. I have always found that it is the most accurate to real life in terms of vehicle dynamics and how cars look while driving and turning etc. Something that I never found to be quite accurate in PCars2, Forza, or GTS.

Well long story short is that I’m amazed at how realistic the driving physics also feels, and I’m only using a DS4 controller. I can just imagine how well realized the driving physics are when paired with good force feedback from a wheel. I have pretty much been blowed away and have been playing it non stop since the purchase. I do wish it had the track roster of PCars2 and the flashiness and UI of GT Sport. But all those niggles aside, it feels good to finally be experiencing what I’ve seen folks on this forum talk about for years.

Well you're in for a treat because their are some sublime cars to put through their paces. Pro tip. Go to race weekend when you don't want to race but just want to drive. Its like a track day where you get into little races with other drivers. Good fun.

I’ll be sure to try that this evening. Ever since I got the game, all I’ve been doing is practice and hotlaps, trying to get a feel for different cars.

@ALB123 hahaha well what i meant by useless is that it's so obvious to the extent where stating it is useless!
Besides i thought i might get some trouble from guys who play it on DS4 and think that it's perfectly fine and fun that way. So i have to respect their opinion even if it's completely wrong imo.

Spot on.

I'd also have liked a larger track list in AC, but in PC2 I actually find it hard to appreciate the larger track list as the vast majority of them aren't laser scanned, and thereby finer details in kerbs and surface characteristics get drowned out. Only Zandvoort isn't laser scanned in AC, so pretty much all the tracks feel crafted to near perfection, which really makes up for it in terms of enjoyment over successive laps and long-term longevity.

Pro tip. Go to race weekend when you don't want to race but just want to drive. Its like a track day where you get into little races with other drivers. Good fun.

Or go into Custom Championship so specific AI cars can be chosen while still following the race weekend format. :D 👍

This. I don't often do that though as I often just load up AC and have a 30+ track day whilst I'm waiting for my food to cook. The other day I took the Huracan Performante out for a drive on Nurb GP and the AI pulled out in front of me from the pits in a 488GTB and I had a great 6-7 lap battle with it. So much joy.

Also even though the track list is small, I never find myself bored of them. There's always a few tracks that I haven't driven on for ages so go back to them. Silverstone 67 is a great track top imo, especially for the older cars.

Hi everyone, I would like to ask some questions.

Is the variaton option in the opponents section for the skills of the AI? Or it makes the grid more variable?

Should I use the In-Game VSync or the Nvidia Control Panel one? Also, could you recommend some tweaks in Nvidia Control Panel? I have an 1050Ti.

Thank you in advance!

That would be the variety of the liveries in the field. Generally speaking, I'd always recommend using GeForce Experience, if you're using a supported nVidia card, as it automatically tweaks all the settings to your hardware specifications, plus you have to option to either make the game run smoother or look better. :)
