You all failed! :D

Kunos Simulazioni are delighted to announce a new milestone for Assetto Corsa’s licenced content: We are pleased to welcome McLaren!

This agreement allows the Kunos development team to enrich Assetto Corsa’s virtual garage with two of the most desirable GT cars: The McLaren MP4-12c and the MP4-12c GT3. We hope
this agreement can satisfy both the street car enthusiasts, and the simracing drivers who, with this addition, will get an amazing line-up for their GTR races in Assetto Corsa.

Marco Massarutto, Assetto Corsa's Project&Licensing Manager, commented:

"This addition proves our intention to continue to re-invest our earnings from netKar PRO with officially licensed content, and to bring the most desirable cars to Assetto Corsa. This licensing
agreement is for all the motorsports enthusiasts and simracers enjoying the AC Technology Preview demo, and also for all our new followers who decide to support us buying netKar PRO
in order to get the AC Technology Preview for free.

This is our way to thank all of you so much for the great response and feedback that gamers and simracers have provided to us from the AC Technology preview, which has exceeded our best expectations."

McLaren models will be provided as future additional contents, after the first release of Assetto Corsa. Stay tuned on Assetto Corsa's channels to check out details on the making of McLarencar models!

Oh damn!! This must be the end of the world for the iR fanboys over at their forums!! Gotta go there and see their reactions to this!!

Meh SimRaceway had it first! I can't say I'm surprised and I gathered this would happen when they announced a new car coming, Mclaren are everywhere these days throwing their licences around.

Which isnt a bad thing! I look forward to comparing the versions from various sims.

Well.. I'm not TOO surprised, but dammit! Can't wait.

All we need now is a confirmed Ferrari 458 GT3 and we have ourselves one pretty looking series!
Oh God we're gonna have a very good VLN series in our hands pretty soon!! I honestly see iRacing, rFactor, rF2 and P-CARS being neglected even more!!

In MP it will certainly be a fierce competitor to the others.

Pcars still is the only one that will have proper SP, that many do like.

It will be interesting to see what state AC and other games are in by the time pCARS arrives as a finished product. It's surely only going to get better so the competition will be pretty fierce.

Hopefully in multiplayer we will be able to mix licensed content with mod content. That way we can use the best of our licensed cars and then "fill in the blanks" with mod content.

Could have a great modern ALMS or ELMS series that way. :)

Great for Assetto Corsa.

Only downside in general and not relating to Mclaren and Assetto is there's many 2013 driving games, all offering the same cars like some remit.

I like the p4/5 from Assetto, maybe I'm wrong but this doesn't seem to be any sims or at least not in every 2013 driving game (please dont quote me listing mods). I want to see more stuff like that instead of everyone jumping on the bandwagon of what another game has done. Oh look they got that, must be easy/cheap we'll have it too instead of really looking for something.

It will be interesting to see how AC modding handles copyrighted content. I would love to see some of those FM4 models that got exported in AC. NFS Shift also has pretty good models.

You mean those crappy rFactor mods? the ones with ripped 3d models and the worst physics imaginable?

No thanks.
And just so you know, you did just advocate copyright infringement.

:sly:

It will be interesting to compare all aspects of the AC cars to their iR-counterpart cars.

I finally installed the tech preview last week and I am enjoying the hot lapping. The FFB feels real nice on my CSW. There seems to be more "tension" in the wheel; iracing feels more slack (especially around the wheel center). imho, ymmv of course.

Looking forward to this.

I can't agree with you here.
If something is easy to licence why not license it? iRacing doesn't have McLaren GT3 exclusive so why not? It's a popular modern GT3 car, lot of people would like to drive it. Not to mention the people who want to simulate real life series like BES, FIA GT, VLN, Adac Masters... we need all the cars, McLaren, Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche... the more they add the easier life is going to be for modders.

And the Pagani Zonda R? I surely don't complain if every sim has such a beatyful car, big kudos to Pagani Automobili for their open mind.

This is awesome. Doesn't this show that they almost have a pCars method going with modeling the cars first, then asking for licensing?

I wonder what else they may have...

btw, RSR racing is already starting on adding back-end server support features in the form of a live timing leaderboard. Hopefully they can be part of the build-up to full multiplayer ranking systems!

Side by side comparisons of course!

Comparing Assetto Corsa, or NetKar Pro, to any other sim, on quality of FFB and realism of physic is not fair, they all feel a little pale after driving AC or NK.
You don't have to drive the same car to realize that, any car with a good wheel will suffice.:sly:
If you want to compare graphics, visual details or any other artistic aspect, then it might be interesting.:)

Holy ****, those look great when rendered up for a while with the right lighting.

Wish we could do the same with GT5, then the models would just look beyond insane.

Honestly I don't really care about GT5 models. Nogripracing.com is allowing Forza4 conversions with DVD-check.
Looking forward to see that stuff ported to Assetto Corsa.
Forza4 models + DX11 shaders = WIN.

From what I understand, GT5's are more detailed. That's why I'm saying it'd be cool.

The good thing about the Forza models though, is that iirc most are scanned.

AC will probably be inundated with low-quality ports though, with slapped on physics.

Looking forward to seeing something like rFactor Central popping up for Kunos.

I know they're out of their control but I'd imagine allowing those Forza models in their game would have them in legal muddy waters.

They can't be implicated, and neither could the modders, unless they tried selling them. People import models from other games and such all the time, just look at Skyrim.

Been there done that. Forza 4 models imported in Shift 2 Unleashed if you have an origianl Forza4 copy in your dvd.

Legal problems for Kunos = 0 since all the modding will come from comunity. The best Microsoft can do is prevent some modders to release stuff like Porsche did with Enduracers. But as long as the DVD-check is in place they can still sell some Forza4 copies which means more money for them as well.

I think you're forgetting that the game will generate the physics for the mods once you give it the key Specs... Granted not everyone will go deep in detail giving the system things like accurate roll centers, suspension layout/types, tire size/compounds, camber/toe curves, etc...
So yeah I guess you're right, the less educated modders would still put out crappy content...

But we could fix content more easily compared to rFactor, if as you say we only need to input some technical data. We can also copy values from Kunos cars if we need a base point to start with.

It's supposed to also be in GTR3 (the ferrari p4/5 competizione) but who knows when that will come out.

I think you've tried the wrong mods then. I tried the Shift 2 mod for rfactor and yea, those were god awful but there's another one based off of Shift 1, the shift street mod and that's a great mod. Also, the Mazda Furai mod for rfactor is based of the car in forza 3 or 4 and that's a great mod as well.

Not all ports are bad, depends on who's redoing the physics. Shift street is a great mod and it has tons of variety. The quality is at least up there with the Toyota Supra MK IV mod and the Lexus ISF mods, and those are great quality. PCC 2007 is still the best quality rf mod I've ever tried
