@Barbe Rouge
Hello ! ;-)

What is your motivations to absolutely get a car/mod ?
The history ?
The driving ?
The mechanic sounds ?
The supposed quality of the mods ?
Gotta catch Em all !?

Well, I will give you my motivations..!
First, I'm a mechanics and sounds Lover... a huge one !
I can thrill just earing an old engine like a V12 Matra, Ferrari, Honda, stock block from the US or V6 Turbo from the 80's or Porsche Flat Six for example.

Second, I Love engineering and these mechanics are top notch for mad engineers like Colin Chapman, Jim Hall, John Barnard, Gordon Murray, Adrian Newey for the most famous !

Third, I can't put my ass in a seat/virtual cockpit without historic thoughts about the drivers, the cars and the tracks, It's a whole thing and I got great thoughts with a huge respect about these guys were driving some "rolling graves".

There are a lot of other reasons but the only one is... PASSION ! <3

I'm on holidays for a week, happy man I am !
I downloaded the track "Osterreich 1979" (for my memory It was "Zeltweg"), selected a car from F1 1975 from "Bazza's Team" (a free mod which is really good when you love driving), I put my hands on my wheel and I was near to have a tear in my eyes how It came tremendous sensations.
After this little orgasm, I selected the Formula 79 from RSS (the beautiful and marvelous Lotus 79 indeed), a paymod which I BOUGHT by passion, making again some laps on "Zeltweg" with Ronnie Peterson as the driver (his last victory was on this track, before his accident on Monza and his death), great emotions came to me..!

Now, I say you Goodbye and I give you just an advice, try these absolute jewel as the Formula Ford... free mod easy to get made by "la crème de la crème" as @Cote Dazur wrote ! ;-)

Hi @Cote Dazur ! ;-)

The ACFL Williams FW07 !?
Uh, one of the ugliest mod I ever seen, this conversion (? taken from a Codemasters F1 historic car) looks cartoonish and the sound is... bwoah !
I will try indeed..!
There is a while, I bought some ACFL cars (OMG, what a shame they done with the 2006 season conversion, I really don’t know why MSF lost this conversion with the team "CTDP" which made it for rFactor... maybe the money !?)
The one I bought and I really appreciate is the Renault RE30, even if the graphics are poor outdoor but I’m satisfy by sounds and physics.

The Ferrari 312T4 from MSF to ASR (where I bought it) and back to MSF !?
Sure and obviously ! :)
This car is far from his end development, I trust in MSF to do their best.

So, what are your thoughts about the Formula Ford !?

Cheers !

I don’t want to die before virtually driving the Ferrari 126C2... but not on Ferrari Test Drive... obviously ! ^^

Thanks to all that have tried to assist me.

delpinsky: The latest build is a nice improvement but doesn't completely fix things. Some tracks display the different shades per eye and some don't. Not nearly is distracting as the previous build. Thank you.

Cote Dazur: I'm not quite ready to go that far, but good idea. I'm currently looking at install logs to see if I can pinpoint the problem with AC crashing without the shader lights patch. Maybe deactivation/delete doesn't get rid of some change(s) made by the patch? Don't know yet.

Silvio: Tried activating default weather after deactivation of patch. Game still crashed. :(

Bottom line is that I am fine with keeping latest build of patch installed. I'd STILL like to know what makes AC crash without it. If I figure it out I'll let you know. :)

It has been a while since I drove the William, if ever,:embarrassed:, their is so many mods and so little time, well maybe not so little as I drive a lot, but still so many mods.:dunce:
same for the Formula Ford, I have downloaded it and installed, but not driven yet. interesting read on that car, apparentlt the place to drive it is Snetterton "The Jim Russell Racing Developments motor racing school was located at Britain's Snetterton race circuit"
This morning I was driving ACC, I am quite found of ACC, quick race this morning in the wet at the Nurburgring, medium rain, was very pleasant and rewarding.
yesterday afternoon I was at Osterreich 1979, did not even know it is the old Red Bull ring, :embarrassed:, with Formula 1 1976, quite nice.
this afternoon, inspired by your post, I will go there with the f1 1979 I have and see what is what.

Between AC and ACC I am in SIM (VR) heaven, have been for a while, reading all those angry simmer complaining about this and that makes me sad for them, maybe they should consider an other game genre, or maybe they are the type never happy no matter what because it starts by being happy with yourself.;)

@WVStarship their is nothing extreme about what I suggested, as long as you keep the old document you can always revert to it.

There is an issue with Oesterreichring Grand Prix Circuit 1979 Version 1.0, I do not know how to contact those guys.
the issue is the tire do not touch the tarmac on the grid but they do on the rest of the track.

I noticed it, using the Ferrari 312T4 in the way to show you that I tried the car as you suggested me... when my PC crashed again !

I got this strange issue with Good and Bad Weather and car mirrors using Fog_dynamic_24 as weather:
every car mirror becomes black.
Is it only a problem on my side or you have it as well, guys?

2nd issue on the JT5 Shiro 2016 r2 and r3:
Basically using the same Fog_dynamic_24 as weather:
it's like the atmosphere is pitch grey, but selecting a different camera outside the cockpit, it's all fine.
Have you got the same issue?

p.s.
Soon a new version of G&B Weather will be out, together with SOL update on Shaders Light Patch, so hopefully they will correct the issues.

Just go to those ( blue ) folders than copy this in your original content and system folder

Has anyone tried The Rollovers "Paid Mod" TCR cars? I did see they have a free version but the paid option has a few more cars... I just feel VERY hesitant to pay them when it seems like 50% of those cars are from CIraceonline with tiny visual modifications to call it their own.

I've been looking at the WTCR mod for quite some time now, but their prices are stupid when you take that into account...

Some nicely reworked/updated car mods are available here:

https://acmodder.wixsite.com/ac-cars-reworked

These all install as new cars too (hoorah!) so comparisons with the original mods are easy.

Edit: I had to manually adjust the hands/wheel synchronisation on the TT myself. Bah.
Why do modders always seem to struggle with such a simple adjustment, even when allegedly 'improving' mods..?

Most people drive outside the car or with hidden wheel, so they probably won't ever notice.

But seems like a great idea! There must be like like a dozen mods for each car, everyone taking a different approach. It's not like we need more of the same 💡

Is it anyone from here?

No idea who's behind it, but hopefully they keep it up. I posted a while ago about there being a need for a Reboot Project for cars, and this could well be it.
I hope they fix some of the obvious stuff though. Apart from the same hands/wheel synch issue as the TT, the Alfa 8C still has that ridiculously huge steering wheel that's obviously just been scaled to match the position of the driver's hands, rather than altering the driver model to suit a properly-sized steering wheel or swapping in a more appropriate driver model. Anyone can change textures or update shaders, but 3D work is what a lot of these mods need.
Another example: their Pantera has the same disconnected cockpit driver door grab handle as the original mod. If you promote yourself as someone who improves old mods then you really should properly fix obvious errors.

a few nice cars here

@Masscot the Bugatti mirror has an issue, I thought it was wrong texture, but it is not the issue, I have no idea what is up, never seen that one either. Funny thing the other cars mirrors form that source are OK.:odd:

ur place. I would download app again ( light shader patch ) than try to install it ( look at manual ) once again. I guess you are done something wrong in instalation process if those folders miss in mods.

As we know EB100 had 4wd system (some kind of 4wd). Modder assume it is Rwd. Not good at all

For this to work like track re-boot works, it needs to be done by people who know what they are doing, not guys fumbling in the dark.:dopey:
Maybe one day, the talented modders will realize that working on existing conversion will give us all a better AC and they will use their talent fixing issues. probably not as they usually don't agree on using conversion.
In the meanwhile we only can rely on our self to make them better.

Edit: So looking in the analyzer, the suspensions are 100% Ferrari F40 stage 3, and they still totally **** it up, pardon my French but what a bunch of clowns. I have 4 other version of that car, none drive like that scrap.
Feeling better now, thank you.:D
