Happy 1000 pages to this thread! It's a lot of fun to be a part of it and looking forward to much more in the future.

As for now, a big thank you to @MrB00 for helping with the skinning of the Donkervoort GT4 project.

Just to whet your appetites a bit...

Can anything be done about the odd side-pipes? They've always bothered me and I love this car. They look like they're ceramic with a weird creamy colour. Some nice shiny stainless steel or chrome would be awesome.

...

... unless they're supposed to look like that?

Ask @GzeroD, he made the original Donkervoort GTO mod. Perhaps he'd be willing to change the colour on that part. It would be nice if it were darkened at least to a gunmetal, not necessarily made shiny.

I'm fine with that. It's up to @Masscot though.
That was just a quick and dirty colour change using the DDS from the kn5 - i haven't messed with shaders or anything as I have no clue about that kinda thing :D

EDIT to say I used CM to find the name of the exhaust texture and found it in the extracted textures from the kn5 and yep, no point messing about lol

I'm planning on releasing a few driver&pitcrew skin packs, starting chronologically, with the oldest cars in my game (you can check a Fangio combination in the screen below).
I've prepared a pack with all the files required for the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196, and need a volunteer to test if it's working alright.

The files pack will overwrite a few files, so it's a good idea to backup your original car.
Files changed (and what's changed) are:
driver/driver_pudding.kn5 (default one is shiny and has contemporary suit lines over it)
cars/f1_1955_mercedes_w196/data/driver3d (in order to assign driver_pudding to the car)
texture/crew_suit/type2/white (Kunos default, switched to a higher quality, truly white crew uniform)

The helmet overlay is not included, as most people don't like it.
Cheers!

Let me get back to you on that one...gimme a sec to find where it's located.

Damn you CM for crashing while I m trying to change cars lol
Don't bother, I tried it and got reminded that I'd tried changing materials for chrome when we first got the car. It ends up with that dull ceramic finish, even with a chrome shader. Those pipes are linked to a bunch of other materials too.
A PBR shader overhaul of the car would be amazing, kind of like what AC Modder is doing recently with chrome materials.

What about the antique chrome shader that Kunos use on, for example, classic Ferraris?

The headers are tied in to the main exhaust and the suspension springs so changing the shaders also changes those, and all it's done is made thiose things darker.
I'm thinking if @GzeroD hasn't left us he should be able to change the model but for now if you want them dark grey then put this in each skin folder.

editing this because you basically just wrote what I did and also discovered lol

Yep that whole PBR thing sounds like it would be just the thing even if none of us here actually know what it is and what it does :D :D

Oh and @Masscot Those dark grey bits are the headers if you want to mess about with finding your own colour using the DDS I posted - i tried making them pink and green and yellow and they looked crap so dark grey it is.

I love this idea. I can help you test and even make a few skins if you need.
Feel free to take any of the "aged" helmets I made for a pack way back when on RD.

On another note: I have tried the custom shader pack and to me it looks exaggerated brightness wise. Is this normal?

All settings are maxed out at least in asseto, I didnt tweak the custom shaders. Should I tweak anything to make it look better? or this is how it should look?

To me it just looks like some sort of exaggerated HDR but not proper HDR, or something like that.

I would also like to ask something: Can custom content of asseto corsa contain viruses, exploits etc? Because im downloading stuff posted by random people all over the internet so im not sure about that.
go to the lighting section and turn the brightness from 300% to 100%

Happy Easter all. Couple of questions:

1) in AC data files I often see Header with a version number associated with it. Anywhere from version 1-4. What do those different version numbers represent and what effect do they have?

2) I'm re-working an existing mod and found that I had to change the windows Colour/Transparency values to stop the windows from becoming opaque when exporting the new kn5 from kseditor. However the view out the windscreen now looks slightly blurry when the car is in movement. Any ideas on what settings or ksUser Variables might fix that?

Since that naff blank sun strip was removed in the previous update, a 'Citroen Racing' windscreen banner logo has been added to the C3 R5 in case anyone wants it. It's got a cool effect in that it turns from almost opaque to fully translucent from inside the car, depending on the angle of light hitting it. So it subtly fades in and out as you travel around the track and change your position relative to the sun.

Remove if not allowed,

however I'm trying to convert a car into AC and I have two issues at this point;

1) When I try to assign lights nothing happens at all, no lights or anything, the lights.ini I believe is correct, is there anything else I should look at?
2) Rim blur is only recognized on two wheels both in KsEditor and showroom, meaning that when it is switched off it is still on for the two other wheels.

I would appreciate any help, and if not allowed here pointed towards the correct forum, thank you.

Edit: Both issues fixed.

Kristinu, can you please tell me how you fixed the lights? I'm having a similar issue with lights not working in a mod that I'd like to sort out.
