Here's my latest VW mod. No idea if it's on the good list or the bad list, but I like it.

Can we all start being nice to each other again now? :gtpflag:

Rollovers Vantage GTE 2017 soundmod + car specs "update". Power/torque value is not taken from real life, but I tweaked it a lot until I came up with something that resembled the performance of this car in real life. If you want to balance it with Kunos GTEs, add ~70kg of weight.

We need more V8 sounds like that, like LS engines or the Nissan gtr gt1s VK56DE.

Well this is a conversion and it definitely shows. Weird textures, a little overexposed but nothing too bad. Unfortunately not a lot of care was taken in the conversion so the hotlap start is actually in the middle of the grass in the infield, several textures are set to light up for no reason, and the road mesh is very bumpy in an unrealistic way. This is an old netKar pro track conversion and it's age does show a bit, but it's still plenty fun to drive. Unfortunately, laps don't count in the pit lane. It could also use some color correction, as things look a bit washed out.

The pit lane is fixed in this version. The grass is much much worse. It's flourescent green. Like radioactive green. The trees are also shaded wrong which emphasizes the nature of them being flat cardboard cutout trees. I can't really recommend either version.

Lots of detail here, as expected. It not onlt looks great but it also has added atmosphere being able to hear the crowds and the euro-techno they are playing. A fantastic rendition of this track. There are also a few layouts included, and many layouts that the community has added. None of the others are as good as this one and it's so cheap nowadays, just get this one.

Looking at this track for what it is, it's pretty good. It is from 2014 and it came before the kunos DLC version and while it's not as high quality as the Kunos version, it's not supposed to be. It's an rFactor conversion. It's flaws include being overly bright, almost neon green in spots, a couple textures where the transparency is not set (like bridge railings) and obviously accuracy since it's not laser scanned. But for what it is, it's pretty good. The Kunos version exists and is usually dirt cheap, so there's no real reason to grab this anymore, but for that time before the Kunos version was available this would have been "good enough".

This one is not really worth bothering with. Trees are placed haphazardly, some are floating in mid-air, some are a bizarre shape that I've never seen in nature. Most of them are also too dark. There are massive holes in the terrain that you can see the sky through, and the road mesh is undrivably bumpy in any car with a stiff suspension.

First the good stuff about this track. It is functional. The walls are actually walls. Now the not so good stuff: the green stuff is too green, the road texture is too small and noticably repeats way too often. Signs are stretched to weird aspect ratios. The road surface is bumpy in a low poly road mesh kind of way. the 3d grass is upsidedown (???) and it's just not very good.

I don't know much about the origin of this track, I do know that it's fantastic though. It's a lot of fun, and looks beautiful. It's got some inaccuracies because it's the modern layout with a vintage backdrop (barriers removed, old style curbs and buildings) but that's why it's Faux vintage. There are a couple weird things, like some trees that are see-through and a tent that floats in the air. Despite that this place is still beautiful and it's really cool.

Folder Name: nurburgring1967

This is awesome. It has a ton of trackside details, takes place in the fall instead of the summer, is fairly accurate to the layout (I mean, it's not laser scanned or anything, but the layout is correct) and it just looks beautiful. The road surface is bumpy to an appropriate level, and it just feels dangerous. There are several track layouts as well. This one is very similar to Rainmaker's but I give this one the edge simply because of the extra layouts. You can't go wrong with either of them though.

Folder Name: nordschleife1965
Author: Rainmaker
Download: https://www.mediafire.com/file/3yzvmm2f1xfhkl9/N%C3%BCrburgring_1965_v1.0_by_Rainmaker.7z/file
This track and WilliamTRiker's version have a lot in common. They appear to be converted from the same source, this one with a summer atmosphere and different sponsors. Either way you go they are both great 60's Nordschliefe tracks.

Folder Name: 75_nordschleife
Author: Tiago Lima
Download: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/nordschleife-75.2828/
This one looks like it also comes from the same source that the Rainmaker and WilliamTRiker versions come from, but this time with a 70s flavor. Unfortunately this one has a lot less attention to detail and the color correction is way off. The track surface is also super low-poly so it's bumpy in all the wrong ways. I wish there was a decent 70's Nordschliefe, unfortunately this one isn't it.

Ok, so this one is complicated. There was a 2018 version of this released by patrikpat and when it was initially released all of the grass was transparent if you were using the recommended version of Custom Shaders Patch. They released a fix (which should apply automatically with content manager if you have config auto downloads turned on, if you don't, go to the custom shaders patch settings section and download the track config), but unfortunately this fix didn't work for me.

A ton of little tiny changes to the reboot version add up to a much greater experience. This track performs a lot better, especially in VR now that everything has been optimized. Some of the trackside details have been remodeled to be more realistic, colors have been tweaked to match real life, and the skidmark groove doesn't look like it's floating above the track anymore. An excellent version of this track and my new favorite version of Algarve.

I can't actually find much bad to say about this track. It's still a bad idea to give Gilles money for his scummy tactics of stealing other people's work, but at least this isn't his usual steaming pile. One flaw is that off-track areas are not marked as invalid, so you can cut major parts of the track with no penalty.

This place looks fantastic! The grass, the textures, the trackside surroundings, the visual detail of the road surface, the trees, everything looks great. I've heard complaints that it's too bumpy but it seems fine to me. I don't know what this was originally converted from but Terra21 did an excellent job. For me, this is the one to get. I understand that some people hate the bumpy surface though.

Folder Name: nagp_mid_ohio

So this is the Terra21 version with the road smoothed out a bit and a lot of details removed. I've never driven there but I've seen videos and it seems like a pretty bumpy place to me, so I'm not entirely certain why they smoothed it out. Also the lack of trackside details and the removal of the rubber on the road really makes this one look less good. For those that hate the bumpy surface of the Terra21 version I suppose this one is fine, but the loss of detail really keeps this one from being my choice.

Thanks for these, but I'm a little confused (you said there was a bad version out there). Are these better than the set at 'ACTC Car Pack updated by Assettoland v250720 (4in1) for AC v1.16.3'? Whats the difference between the actc, tcp, and update versions of the cars? Thanks
I have no idea, since I didn't see the assettoland version yet. I would say that if assettand has a version from 25.07.2020, they updated one of those three cars packs, cause all are older. These I posted, I haven't touched in a while, they are 3 different packs of same cars. The UI states they are 2016, 2017 and 2018 versions (if I compare them the 2016 look better and drive better, both 2017 and 2018 look and feel bad). They all look different and drive differently and the skins are not interchangeable. I reposted them today only because I was asked to do so.

So that's the whole story. Do you have a link from assettoland of the updated ones, can't seem to find them myself. Thanks.

Can I ask and if anyone knows.... I have full csp and I noticed when I go above the 1.40 preview (maybe 1.27 cant remember) version I have the odd stutters when I jump to recommended 1.46 version. Luckily I had an assetto back up to go back down to 1.40 as csp has now made older versions unobtainable. If I want to add grass fx to my old 1.40 preview version is there way to do things like this without updating CSP itself. Thanks

When you updated CSP, did you also update to a more recent version of SOL? I think you may well have issues if you didn't as many changes designed to work together conincided with both soon after 1.40.

Hey guys. I’ve successfully got all my mods running again on AC on my new laptop and it was working fine, but after installing CSP and Sol the load times take almost 20 minutes to half an hour for a single event. I’ve seen other people have the same problem but I haven’t come across any one single fix that anyone seems to know besides disabling CSP entirely. I was wondering if any of you have had a similar issue and what you did to alleviate it.

Have you gone into the CSP settings and reloaded all the configs for tracks and cars and VAO files? If not, you'll be loading each set every time you select a new car and tracks for a session, which can be slow.

You havent made a single good rebuttal ever since I mentioned 130R, and then you ignore me, fantastic from you.
And yes I use RF2 as a benchmark, because its developers who actually have real data for their cars from the manufacturer, instead of a mod group that just guesses stats because it "feels right" to Mr saffie hellie because "ITS AN F1 CAR, IT HAS TO HAVE LOTS OF GRIP!"

Can we please give it a rest? This is getting really tiresome now. Let's all just get back to enjoying sim racing and stop this pointless bickering.

I updated to csp 1.46 and noticed a few problems so went back to my old csp - I then decided to try Sol with the older csp and used an old version of Sol which is meant to support that one - i just get little bits of stutter now and again with newer csp and with older sol on older csp. I think it may be because I have new triple screen tbh and maybe my ageing pc. My PC may want it but it will have to live without it for now - but thanks for the help and advice!

Thanks for the tip, I’ll take a look at my next opportunity.

Is SOL really necessary? Before you guys want to burn me for saying nonsense, let me explain: yesterday I decided to try a race without SOL and with a Kunos filter (dark default) and I don't think it looks bad at all. I use VR and maybe that influences. Apart from everything looking really good, I noticed two things that I liked: the first is that all that fog went away, which I have never made much sense of (except, of course, in foggy climates, which I never use), which made everything look clearer and sharper. The second thing I liked is that although the FPS did not vary much, everything flowed better, that is, less stuttering. The only negative is that in some combinations of time and weather, the clouds look a bit odd, but I also have to say that CSP clouds still look more natural than SOL 3D ones. Is there anyone else who doesn't use SOL? I would like to hear other ideas or opinions.

I don't use SOL at all because I have a potato PC and I need the fps that it takes away for smooth racing.

Hello ... I do not usually make post and I hope it does not bother you and if so, then I delete this ...
maybe you already know.......there is a company in Argentina or I do not know where, that is in charge of making the categories of the country only for RfActor ... These are the ACTC cars and they have the copyright of the category.......
They deleted a YouTube video from 3 months ago showing these cars that I had uploaded
recently Assettoland had published these cars in car packs and now that they returned these cars are no longer
I recommend not uploading much content of those cars since these modders or company are very annoying and strict with this
and I think that maybe the assetoland problem was for of this reason ... or maybe not.... but for some reason they are no longer there....
If someone wants them, I downloaded them from assettoland and also a version that Velos modified ... the only thing that the sounds are not the real ones and I'm trying to find something that looks like... regards
sorry for my bad english .. it's not my native language

In reality, every version of those ACT cars were horrid, I mean bad bad. I've tried maybe four versions of that car set (and the official ones) and they were still filled with wheel blur, window transparency, horrible cockpits and modeling, sound, handling - everything. They're not even worth the hassle. They look ok from 100 feet away, thats about it.

Last time driving some new version, lifting off throttle made the drivers helmet slam into the steering wheel basically , like a parachute was deployed, while the engine note sounded like a piper aircraft was circling the sky ready to crash.

I doubt thats the reason AL went down, its gone down twice long before those heaps of polygons showed up. If those are 'copyrighted' :embarrassed: more power to 'um.

This track and WilliamTRiker's version have a lot in common. They appear to be converted from the same source, this one with a summer atmosphere and different sponsors. Either way you go they are both great 60's Nordschliefe tracks.

This one is bright and video-gamey. A lot of the trackside objects are pretty low-poly but that's not to say it looks bad, it's just not super detailed.

I Believe this is a conversion from one of the Codemasters F1 games and it's pretty high quality. The version I downloaded has DRS zones included and blasting the 2019 Formula Hybrid around this track is awesome.

This is an overhaul of patrikpat's 2018 version and has grassfx added. It looks great and fixes all of the issues from the patrikpat version. This is the one to get.

There are no glaring flaws with this version, but it definitely looks older and slightly less detailed than the Reboot version, but that's not to say it's not good, it is really good. It feels slightly bumpier and only a little bit less refined.

This version looks more detailed and it seems to have been smoothened a little bit, but not too much. There are still bumps in the road and that's a good thing. Lighting and detail are just a little bit better than Tiago Lima's version. It's definitely good.

Then @norms comes along and drops this fantastic version which blows the other one out of the water. The asphalt texture, the better lighting in general, the color correction, the new swedish sponsor boards, everything is better. Definitely get this version.

This one is an older conversion and it shows. Textures are overexposed and not color corrected and it's overall lower in detail, it's not bad, it's just not as good as the Terra21 version

This is another excellent overhaul by @Zwiss. This takes the NAGP smoothed version and puts all the details back from the other one, and then some. Performance is improved, lighting is improved, the grass looks perfect. Definitely grab this one, it's the new king of Mid Ohio.

Thanks, this is absolutely great effort and it deserves its own web page with a donation knob.
