Though, you must acknowledge that he does bring a valid point. If somehow this is brought to light with Kunos, BMW or with other prominent figures, think of the problems this could pose. iRacing, making as much money as it does, DOES have a lot on the line here. Hopefully it doesn't, but this could have a direct impact on the AC modding community, as well as ACC. We must wait and see now.
Regardless of this happening, I don't think you'll ever see another Kunos game with mod support. They know the mod community is the only thing keeping AC alive, but I'm sure they would much rather have it die and force everyone on to ACC. I'm willing to bet we won't see any announcement of a true sequel to AC until the modding scene is completely dead, and I'd expect any future game they make to go the ACC route and lock it down.

As much as this could """"potentially"""" affect future game protections, Assetto Corsa will always remain safe. Game is so mod accessible there's just too much content. It's like when Beyonce wanted that picture out of the internet, there's no chance of that happening.

You are right about this - the money that Kunos is losing is going directly into the pockets of modders who are still developing content for AC, as opposed to moving onto AC. I think that the (illegal) conversion of the M4 (at least temporarily) GT3 stands as an example of that.

I think Kunos should just abandon ACC, back roll that content into AC and charge more for it and let the modding contine.

Though, the people at SimDream must've known this never would've worked, right? The people are running a full out paid mod program - they should've known that stealing models in general, but especially from a large corporation as iRacing, and RESELLING would get them into hot water. This just doesn't make sense to me - is this a trend by this company? Considering that I bought a product off their site, this does concern me.

I dont think they will worry that much.. they are based in russia.. the laws there are different.. simdream had this problem once before.. tvey changed their name to assettocorsamods and that was it.
I excpect them to do the same now.

Forza, GT Sport, CSR2, etc models have been cracked, ripped, and converted since the beginning of time. So now iRacing models get ripped and it's somehow a bigger deal?

Noticed something on both the Simdream and RTM site it seems that the more info page actually has the same text this pretty much solidifies my theory about RTM and Simdream being run by the same guy and also because both are based in Russia. So in a nutshell RTM could be in trouble too...

And speaking of iRacing, I'm part of a brazilian WhatsApp modding team where there's this modder called Fernando Valentim who actually managed to convert ALL iRacing and R3E cars to AC, yet I don't even know who he actually shares them all to. He sadly isn't good at english at all, but I did know he stores them all to a server for his developing community he told me or so.

nossa!

Edit 1: means "Wow!" in portuguese.
Edit 2: I'm not brazilian, just happen to live in a neighbor country.

I would want to see iRacing and R3E tracks getting converted to AC

There's a beautiful poem in my country about people that call Metrogas (our natural gas supplier) when they have a gas issue. Metrogas cuts the supply on the whole building because of that one guy, and they are left like that for days until a crew finally comes in. A particular technician would, of course, cut the problematic person's supply only and fix it at the moment.
This whole Jimmy thing reminded me of it. Sorry for the off-topic!

yes well, however, normal rule is not always respected by those who steal the content of other games to sell them to us and make money on our backs and take us for idiots !!! i hope sim stuff dream will pay dearly !!!! that it will also be useful to those who offer mods converted from other games and who sell them, while others share them for free !!!! dirty mentality among some people in the community, I agree to pay for mods but not mods stolen from other games is to take us for idiots

I'm sorry but then, there are a few idiots around. Because some, were and are buying some of those mods.

Doesn't matter if the car has the branding on it though, which all theirs do.
Ripping from iRacing , if that is what they have done, is demented.

You have to wonder if BMW/iRacing could contact kunos about this...

I mean the pic i took is, apparently, an iRacing model, on an ACC track...in AC.....

This isn't ripping 20 year old GT2 mods from some middle aged blokes pretending they have any power to stop it.... this is current, big bucks devs with reputations to uphold with massive car manufactures.

I don't see how iRacing is bigger than Turn10 or Polyphony Digital. and nothing has happened. Ripping models for mods is nothing new and it's the exact reason why pretty much every game has some sort of encryption in the first place. Every developer is aware of this happening and there is nothing they can do about it once it's compromised. It's just the same deal with those encrypted modders crying when their mod gets decrypted, just now right at the source.

Yeah, it's the M4 GT3 Prototype that has been removed from their store. Apparently 'scratch-made' but they removed it as soon as iRacing announced they were pursuing legal action. They stole paintjobs from Trading Paints users, but didn't even bother to take the best one, the Goodsmile Racing Hatsune Miku by Steve Tilbury.
Fernando has managed to take it from that very site you linked since he got an account there and gladly shared it to me over his Discord server, sure its quality is not on par with the rest of the liveries the mod comes with (since it's the LQ preview one and not the HQ one only visible in-game), but it should still get the job done.

Thanks Atrupelador, thought to be honest, I gave up on Camtool because it sucked up so many FPS and caused various other issues, but I might try it again one day.
Camtool demands a lot of processor power. Unfortunately but I must say that the latests versions of CSP and Sol are giving back valuable FPS for our tiny camtool lovers gang. :D

Saw this on a discord.
Things are about to get juicy

I'm pretty sure they have the C8.R which could also be from iRacing.

oooppppssss maybe the BMW Bavaria M4 GT3 from sim dream wasnt so scratch made like they used to tell ?

haha i hope they shut down this crappy people once and for all
Yeah something tells most of those mods are imported from other games. Like the C8.R, the F1 Packs etc. It's just wrong and most of the mods aren't free as well. I'm surprised that someone other than Jimmy didn't notice. Thankfully we have noticed it and hopefully stop this site making money from other people's work.

What the hell were they thinking, there is so much copyright infringement all over this car. They didn't even change the sponsors on the skins.

Edit: Not gonna lie, it drives pretty nicely - especially as far as a Sim Dream mod goes.

I know I'm writing a lot of rants but let's be honest i think we're all angry with this. These paints are on Tradingpaints.

For those who don't know is an app to run with iRacing. So you can have a livery for iRacing which has the M4.

Looks like they stole mine too. Made one with red grille and gave the car carbon mirror caps because iR made them blue...

But good to know that iR is already on that case...

You must be new.

re; the "simdream" conundrum

While SD is no doubt in violation of misappropriating others works (game studios or otherwise) and collecting money, doing anything about it....
is mostly fruitless.

The main issue with this group, if they operate or reside in Russia, is that of jurisdiction and, secondarily, jurisdictional prosecution incentive. The most anyone or authority can do is shutter any hosting they are using (and push them to even more bulletproof and takedown-less hosters).
Russian authorities have no incentive to go after them, due to the very very low monetary gain involved (a few $,eu,rub).
Thus they continue to operate freely.

As a community we can do several things. (for those mods that are not "studio" origin, but conversions of scratch models)

1. share their remakes of original scratch models for free, include the original modders credits and permissions (LeMans Heroes mod for example)
2. remake and release the mods with creators permissions (as I have done specifically with Gilles75 rip-offs)

To note, many of SD/RTM mods are from authors that allow conversions without written permission as long as original credits are included (VLM and VLMjr team come to mind such as Vince K.). I have original sources for most of SD offerings, and had plans to re-convert a few myself.

It is up to YOU and US to remove the incentive for these kinds of groups.

btw... SD cannot "sue" you nor anyone for distributing links or hosting any of their converted "scratch" content for free. They hold no IP rights to do so.

Had some catching up to do over the last 24hrs. The new BMW is the most talked/debate topic for now. That made me curious and did some searching.
Is this street version the same source, I think I haven't seen it here before? My Turkish is not so good (not at all...) but it looks good. No idea how it drives and if this will be available for the public (if allowed?). Anyone ideas or just forget it?

His driving skills needs some improvement ;) And please get rid off the exhaust flames for this street car.

To anyone who is interested: Pessiogarage paymod Capri has been released. www.pessiogarage.com

Thanks for that; it's not quite as 'complete' as his Abarth/Scorpion (which has two versions and more skins) but it's still great quality and fits really well with his own DeTomaso and the Kunos '74 RSR. I often find that my favourite mod cars to drive have physics done by Abbo90 and this is no exception. Couple of tweaks to the sound would be nice, but 'ama fmod', the god of AC sounds, is working on one here anyway:

For the price of a beer or (cheap) sandwich, I know which one will give me more enjoyment.
