Not going to lie, after last weekend I've been really, really wishing there was a Porsche Spec944 mod with proper physics and non-turbo. These cars are absolutely fantastic to hustle around a medium speed race track with lots of 3rd and 4th gear corners . . . I'm hoping to pull all the suspension data off the RL race car the next time I'm servicing it for an event, I have scale weight from tech inspection, too, and know a cursory amount about the tire compound we use to race them, although not as much as Toyo does I'm sure.

Hi check how much space you have on your AC root folder as it won’t complete the AC steam update if there is not enough and gets stuck in a temp download/install circle. This happened to me and I had to free up 10Gb space to allow it to complete. Hope that helps

Thanks for trying to help! I have plenty free space on my drive (95GB) so that couldn't be the problem. I pulled the trigger anyway, and installed AC in Steam. It recognized my files and folders, so it didn't take too much time. I thought it would fix my problems, but no luck. This time I get 'Race canceled' crashes every time I try to start a race. Back to problem solving... I guess I'll start with uninstalling CSP and Sol. It's easy to get them back to work, but worth taking a look at the situation without them.
Cheers!

Please name an other sim where you would be able to achieve what you are trying to do in AC?

Fact is, we have total control over AI in AC, the limiting factor is not the artificial intelligence, it is the other type.

BeamNG (in this case i love racing on the tracks then going offtrack to smash traffic)
City Car Driving
EuroTruck
ATS (grab car mods here, quite fun actually)
Mudrunner
etc just off the top of my head, im sure there are more that are not quite sim like Paradise, Forza Horizon etc.

@mrtomcat66

I think the version I have of Pudsey is a first extraction, if I remember correctly it comes from the trippteamserver. I'm doing ai lines on the tracks that they don't have, and I didn't even remember that I had pudsey, and it's a great track.

Can you share that version of Pudsey please, or do you have a link?

There are 2 versions of Pudsey available. They are different but have the same folder name:

https://assettocorsa.club/mods/tracks/pudsey-street-circuit.html

and from Terra21 (DL-link in the description):

With the Memorial Day weekend in the US of A fast approaching, I'm doing my usual bashing URD, VRC, and RSS versions of Indy cars around that venerable old lady of a track, Indianapolis. I've used just about every version available, and they all, well, frankly leave something to be desired. Yes, each and every one is well beyond my capabilities (modding and driving!), but with Indy being such an important track, you'd think that there'd be a top of the line, "Project Reboot" level of looks and performance of the track for use within AC. I think the comparison was made obvious to me as I'd just finished running a full IMSA grid on the Reboot Daytona - well over 100 fps and just glorious to look at while you're tooling down the straights.

Then I switch to Indy, and, well it just looks like a game, no matter which version/flavour of the track you're using. And performance, well on the same machine where I'm getting a minimum of 100 fps at Daytona, I'm lucky to 30 fps. And that's all 40 grid slots at Daytona, only 22 at Indy (using the real world 33 turns it into a slideshow rather quickly).

So... just a hope, that one of our group of fantastic track modders take notice, and give the old girl a facelift! Mr. Penske did it to the real track. Hopefully our mod won't cost nearly as much as his did :)

Cheers - and sorry for being whiny!

Which version are you using? The aa_indianapolis version looks fine to me.

I've used all of them. The aa_indianapolis is nice looking, but for some reason on my machine runs very badly - like 25 fps. No idea why when everything else runs at well over 100 fps.

I think I remember someone else mentioning this (either on here or on the Facebook AC Nascar page), but the issue only seemed to occur with certain cars. Someone else might be able to help more with this.

Maybe because of the number of spectators in the stands.
Try to reduce the number (ELEMENTS) in the file camera_facing.ini in the data folder of each circuit to see if it changes anything.

Here (remove the _C from COTA).
Just place in the ui:

But please spend a few cents for the full version of CM. There's so much useful stuff included...

Have you installed this version ?

I don't really see what's so very outdated on it ? Anyway there's no other more recent version available afaik...

That helped a bit - I gained 4 fps by getting rid of half the crowd. Thanks for the fantastic tip, that'll come in handy in the future.
But I still hope, wish, and dream that someday, we'll be blessed with a "state of the art" Indy - it's certainly a track that deserves the star treatment!

hi all, I just had a question from a client of mine who is considering setting up a sim for practicing some targa stages , is it possible to implement pace notes in the game? TIA

On behalf of the Reboot Team, here are two more tracks for you guys to enjoy:

Macau Guia Circuit

and

Autodrom Most

As usual as a complete package:
- grass - lights - rain - dynamic balloons, helicopters and airliners, track logo, track description, performance tweaks...too much to sum up.

Just download, enjoy and please share away (please use the provided link so any updates and fixes can be kept in one central source).

One remark: certain cars will struggle with the hairpin at Macau (not unlike IRL)

Cheers from Reboot Team :)

As I keep running laps on one of my favorite tracks, now updated by the Reboot Team (and updated again today), I keep thinking...

LONG BEACH

LONG BEACH

LONG BEACH

LONG BEACH from the Reboot Team is going to be awesome!

Anywho, no matter what keeps popping up in my head, Macau is another fantastic release.

I just noticed the casino across from the pits now lights up correctly after updated by Content Manager.

I'm gonna try to ask again.

Why are car modders moving away from blurred rims? The Mazda Furai suddenly got its blurred rims removed from one version to another and a lot of newer car mods just don't have them outright.

I think they aren't needed anymore due to latest CSP builds generating them automatically with the rim meshes themselves I guess like a modder on facebook told me long ago

Is there a way to force more puddles when it is raining? I noticed that in the most recent versions of the Sol and the CSP the puddles take longer to appear when I use the Rain (Sol) weather, and when they appear they are very few. In older versions puddles were more present.

I'm gonna try to ask again.

I had this same doubt. Is it because everyone uses the shutter speed function combined with the F5 key to take pictures? This function takes a fixed point (in this case, the car) and creates a blur effect on everything that is in motion, such as the wheels. Since this function was implemented, I think that mod developers do not want to have more work to create a texture that simulates a blur on the wheels.
