In the mean time, I am messing around with my favorite car...

But there I have a small issue:
I'd like to remove the carbon "rims covers"
I tried to make the texture transparent, and changed the material to alpha testing... it works in CM, but in AC the covers appears again ?!?

Could someone with the required tools do that for me please ?
see the image below what I mean:

Here's a few visual tweaks to the excellent AG pCARS rip of the RGT-8 GT3 in case anyone is interested. Lots of skins, large file, I didn't x-ref the suits and gloves so they're in every skin folder.

The link will be up for about a week.

https://we.tl/t-w39WeShwoT

1.1 updates:
New RUF badge.
Cockpit and roll cage darkened.
Switchgear and pull handle saturation reduced.
Floating LCD digits fixed.
Porsche driver suit added.
OMP gloves added.
New previews.

In case anyone uses proTyres, there is a small change needed for the tyre file - update attached.

I was trying to add some gloss/reflection to the paint/liveries, but options are already maxed out in CM Showroom/paint.

I'm not getting any shadows under the car in CM showroom. Is that related maybe ?

Edit:
even more strange: I now installed the "original" you posted (without the wiper update) and there I have shadows like any other car ... :confused:

I was planning to mention the tyres, so I'm happy to see this post. However, I can't open the tyre.ini zip because the file is damaged(?). I tried 7zip and WinRAR.

If it is a small change, maybe you can share the instructions in a post here on GTP. I may find it useful for other car mods with the same issue. :gtpflag:

Yes it's a small change.
in the original file there is some comment lines (start with ;) but the following text is on the next line but it should be on the same line (sometimes it's a problem caused by CRLF settings in original editor).

So for example when it looks like this:

.INDEX=1

;
SOFT

it should be like this:

INDEX=1

;SOFT

It needs 3 changes (for each comment of "soft, medium, and hard")

I re-compress and upload the modified file again in case it works now (unfortunately this forum does not allow to upload .ini files)

I also added a zip of the whole folder that goes into: ..assettocorsa\apps\python\proTyres\cars_mod

OK, but (e.g.) I have a lot of 4K skins for the Porsche 962C short tail, they all look very clean and sharp and they are still between 27 and 34MB, hence my thoughts...
Thats one of the few mysteries I still have to figure out. Even if I make 4k skins many of the logos look "hideous" because I have to make them to small to fit on the bumper or something. I somehow feel that the skins from better skinmakers have all these clean and sharp logos while mine are just "ok". Maybe it is just me and I am to crictial on my work idk...

@Masscot

Basically when I imported the car into 3DS Max from 3DSimED, it returned a strange issue with the LCD, appearing like this:
upload_2019-4-14_15-48-51.png

Therefore eventually I managed to fix it, by making the LCD pieces "alpha test".

I wonder if the imported .fbx from 3DSimEd messed up the car shadow somehow.
What makes the car to cast the whole shadow? Perhaps it's just a matter of changing "alpha" setting somewhere?

It's the .fbx file imported from 3DSimED that creates the issue with the car shadow.
Even just importing to Kunos editor the untouched original .fbx, the shadow in the .kn5 file disappear (only the rear wing got the shadow). 3DSimEd messes up something. Any idea?

I need some help....I have dashboard panel light and headlights that turns on at night automatically...or turn on/off with the propper button...my question is..when playing at night and I turn off lights..it is possible to have light for the dashboard panel? I mean a constant dashboard panel lights although main lights are off??
I know that in lights.ini I can add this:

[LIGHT_5]
NAME=mycar_cockpit_interior_gauge_emissive_
COLOR=1.5,3,1.5
OFF_COLOR=1,2,1 <----------------------------- this is a constant dashboard panel lights during night...but also during day!!!

I think I miss some parameter at extension..config..car..mods..mycar.ini to do this...probably an emissive light or something..

Same happened to me when I was saving .kn5 with 3DSimED...I was experiencing no car shadow during game...and probably other problems...I solved it downloading 3DSimED version 3.1o seems after version 3DSimED31o there are some graphical problems exporting

Thanks for the tip about version "o" of the editor.

Now I have this:
a) default .fbx file untouched in 3DS Max > imported by Kunos editor > saved as kn5 file IT WORKS!
B) importing the wiper .fbx file into the car in 3DS Max > importing the car in Kunos editor > saving the kn5 file IT ERASES THE CAR SHADOW!

I SOLVED IT!!!

Basically saving the "rgt8_gt3_original.fbx" file as "rgt8_gt3.fbx" and importing it to Kunos editor, it loaded the old persistence file...

You have a direct link for us? The posted link one page earlier needs a registration and this sucks.

The thing is, @APT likes it that way, he specifically states, please do not post direct links to the mods, since we like what he has to offer, he his not asking for money or anything else, seems fair, we will let him have it his way. I registered, try it, you can always un-register if you feel it is too uncomfortable for you.:)
you might even find a thing or 2 that you like on his site. Why is it always the low message count guy's asking those questions?:boggled:

I like that Barcelona night config but the street lights REALLY seem to affect any windscreens with dirt/dust on them. It's like driving through little patches of fog when you go under a street light. Anyone else notice this?
VR, Sol 1.2 alpha 5.

Shaun Clarke's Seat Leon TCR also has this, especially the side windows turn milky white when lightsources fall on them at night. The windscreen is much less affected, only low angled sun gives a problem.

Been having an issue with CM where it doesn't generate the outlines correctly. It makes the background black instead of transparent like so:

hLk0V9j.png

Anyone else have this issue and/or know how to solve it?

I use a small phyton app to record the trace of the track... I don't use CM for anything else than to see in almost real time when doing some skins... later today when I start AC I'll tell you what is called the app.

Come on Fall Guy, don't make a drama for nothing... to register is the minimum what you can do for someone that spend so much time to give you some new toys... and you could leave a comment when downloading something... it would be surely appreciated ;)

This is what awaits You, and it drives like a champ ! :

Please link this super skin, many thanks

as soon I finish it... just now I am looking for a cool appropriate number plate ;)

I've put this one, but it just doesn't fit in my opinion...

found already something much better... and than there is the castrol logo that doesn't sit how it should, the champion logo is too big... etc, etc...

Not sure if it is the same or related but for some tracks that have no (or non working) track maps, you can delete the map and let CM generate a new one. Resulting in a black background.
I just open the map in GIMP, change the black in transparent.

CM creating a black outline background is new for me, but I'm guessing the same solution can be used.
Not at my rig right now, but you could also try to generate a new outline using the ai line (top box checked) and see if that solves the issue ?
