Thank you, Zwiss - it looks great!

I was hoping that, out of the two, you'd release Crystal Palace first (as I'm more interested in that) but this is not bad either. ;)

The problem is, converting a track from GTR2, rF or rF2 to AC is done in no time.. but trying to make it look like an AC track.. is a lot of work. For example: the wooden railroad blocks at the side of the tarmac in Crystal Palace are all perfectly straight in rF2, just like a concrete wall. This looks very unnatural . But it's really a lot of work by hand, you have to get out all the holes and double meshes before you can apply a noise to make it look more irregular... just an example :)
But since covid-19 has robbed me of all my January gigs, I know what to do :)

Is it about collecting, more than racing for me? I discovered today that out of the 3189 cars in my car list, I have only driven 198 (6%) of them. Of my limited 707 tracks, I have only driven on 97 (13.7%). Am I only in this for collecting with the occasional race in between, mostly not more than 4 laps at a time? I love the game, love the VR races, love creating and sharing back in my limited capacity, but think the addiction is more about the collection and appreciation of the beautiful cars. What are your stats? filter in content manager by driven:0 for both cars and tracks. Look at all, then the result.
Just under 6000 cars at 5969 probably could purge a few hundred easily. Some are duplicates of different versions of the same mods during development. I probably collected more Skylines variations than the total car list in Gran Turismo 1.

Tracks I have 983 with 287 rated as 5 star that is top quality, with csp config. Driven around 1/3 of the car, most undriven cars are drift cars, American muscle cars, or various old F1 cars.

Space used is 1.4TB uncompressed and compressed down to 400GB, even when compressed, it still takes more space than 3 Forza Horizon install. c

Ow...it looks like we will need some tall trees...:D

So I hope it's not the 1000th post on the topic, but I'm looking for a way to put a specific one on a skin to be silver or metallic shine?

Not just gray, and not the entire skin either, just a piece of the A to C pillars.
well to be honest I'm not a skin maker but as far as I know, it's a matter of alpha layers and config settings that depends on your taste and on the material. However, here's the links with the materials and values to put in the ext_config of a particular skin: https://github.com/ac-custom-shader...ter/config/cars/common/materials_carpaint.ini

And some video tutorials that might help you:
part1:

part2:

and eventually a video with common questions (a FAQ to the author of the previous videos):

I hope that these tutorials can help you and other people that want to start to create skins properly (and yes guys, this tutorials can help also who think that makes skin but in the end he/she just puts some colors and sponsors on a car without use neither the AO).
These tutorials are also for people that take ACC skins and convert them to AC. In this case two things:

1. don't convert skins from ACC to AC unless the author of the skin gives you the authorization;

2. don't copy and paste (everyone can do such a simple thing). Instead use the tutorials and github guide to recreate the skins (obviously if you have the above authorisations).

Thanks for your attention and I really hope to see some better-done skins around.

P.S. Last but not least, if you don't have the AO of the body you can recreate it via CM or you can do it by yourself... Just search for tutorials on youtube (for example I've found this one)
You mean you know how to create wiper animations in CSP? If yes, could you help me with some Mods. with split meshes? Even some of them are well known. If you answer, I'm all ears
Not with CSP but with Blender (someone said it's better). I've watched this tutorial. Just watched for now since I don't have time in this period. For this reason I was also looking for some strings to implement in the ext_config to swipe off from the windshield the rain droplets, so when I'll have time (I hope soon), I'll be able to put everything together.
Sooooo... if someone can help me out the hunt is still on😅

a decent topic!

installed:
467 cars
230 tracks (150 starting with rmi_*)
all cars/tracks have been driven

in my downloads to test/install
1,322 cars/archives (maybe 1% are w/old version) 220 GB
48 other archives of assorted car "packs" 40 GB
598 tracks (same error rate as above) 115 GB

in my have tried, might be installed, but archived folder (0 have rmi_*)
420 cars/archives 108 GB
235 tracks 41 GB

do I collect? Some.. a little, not too much

My method is to have a hold/download folder of downloaded and untried (or updates) that have not been installed or tested, and a keeper folder that is sorted by different metrics. For tracks it is sorted by geographical and/or genre. For cars it is sorted by type/series/era where possible. A car/track is tested or installed from one folder, to AC and then if its a "keeper" that archive is moved to the archived folder. Anything else goes to the BIN.

My horror story... the download folder:
Cars... 10 archives are dated to 2018, another 320+ are dated 2020
Tracks... over 120 are dated 2020

Happy New year and thanks for all the cake!

I only delete when there is a definitive version, such as espirit's S2000 replaced all the previous others S2000s. Otherwise, I keep all different versions until one stands out from the rest. Sometimes I am also able to take what's good of one mod and other good properties from another and combine them into one superior version. I also keep models that have the potential to be great if it was done right, and save them up for later if I do have the desire to fix them.

Is it about collecting, more than racing for me?
installed:
2448 cars
647 tracks

and more uninstalled.

Hours in AC: 5,699.

AC folder is 852GB on a 4TB drive. Car folder is 568GB, Tracks is 267GB.

Because I am home most everyday, I also drive in AC most every day and also download the latest most every day. These days a lot of downloads are updates of existing assets, but new are almost daily as well.

To me it is still more about driving than collecting, but obviously I am also a collector. Both can be enjoyed equally.

I tend to keep a lot of mods installed because I don't have time to test every new mod. Those I do test, the bad ones are deleted, unless I know it's still being updated, and the good ones are "rated." Occasionally I'll "find" a great mod I've had for a long time, but never got to before.

I use Content Manager's rating and tagging system to organize my mods, so though I have almost 5,000 cars and 1700 tracks installed, a much smaller number have five-star ratings, and fewer are marked as favorites. If I want to try something "new," I'll select "All" and browse through all the "extra" stuff.

I do have a 1TB SSD drive dedicated to AC, and I use Windows 10 LZX compression to drastically reduce the size of most of the mods' files down to ~30% of their origial size. I may even get an M.2 PCI-e card, for my pre-M.2 motherboard, for a 2TB NVMe SSD in the future.

Have about 1125 active cars. Probably more store somewhere else.
Only 177 tracks, though. If I wanted to race on badly ported RF/GTR2 tracks made by our cheese-eating friend I'd just play the original games (or AMS, my go-to sim for rFactor content lol).

Now I just think 'if x sim I have installed has y car then I don't need it in AC'... And that's how I binned every single F1 mod from SD. I have AMS for those; RF2 for the Formula BMW, PC2 for its historic cars, yadda yadda.

Abarth 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione - We need more interior photos of this car. Not finding any on my first search.

I would prefer a manual in the real version of this little beast, but this is spec.

Basically how I survive the temptation to dwelve into AC Rally content.

1.53TB You guys are absolute MONSTERS!!!!!!

Don't worry though I will beat you some day and fill up my 8TB drive with AC mods just you watch! :dopey:
😜

I think it's absurd ********, until a month ago it was possible to access his work freely, now it's by invitation only, another stupid person who thinks he's a god and has sold himself for money....
Since Gzero opened up his blog again would you be so kind as to appologise for going off on one....
Cheers.
I'm sure he isn't bothered in anyway shape or form, but it would book mark that little episode nicely if you just said 'sorry'...

Then you'll want to avoid Chivas mods. His definition of definitive is not very definitive. :sly:
Ya, had 3-4 different versions of the same cars from Chivas. Just recently bother to purge all the dated ones out. Another first-world problem now is that I tend to download a week worth of mods before installing, by the end of the week, I don't even remember where they were from or what I added.

Well, that's scary. I just wheedled down to 300 tracks (from 550) and have only driven 95 of them. New mission. Drive every one of the 300 tracks. And of 1500 cars I've only driven 20 of them. Another mission. Alot of the 1500 are grid fillers for me, but not a good excuse. Must drive. Interesting dive...

(AC Dir-645 GB - 300 tracks of which 160 are my Class A tracks... those that I can go to with no concern for weird visual glitches, and be happily immersed.)

modding question...... exist an good and easy way to create the skidmark on a racetrack with blender?
the method I am using does not convince me, because I do not follow a trajectory but I copy the road and turn it into a skid ...

Ah, I see what you mean - although if you didn't point this out, I'd have simply assumed those are straight concrete blocks. (And even I - a very detail-oriented person - wouldn't have noticed neither driving nor on replay lol.) But I can imagine there are many other examples, as you've said.

It does look great already though, even without the trees - obviously much better than the existing version. (Which is crap.)

*

On the cars/tracks topic, I guess I'm much less of a fanatic lol! (Though I only started posting actively only a couple of months ago.) I have a personal "top 70" best/most challenging/most fun track list of mine and looking to complete that collection in AC with ACC providing sometimes even better versions too. (E.g. Kyalami, Donington) It did start out as a top 50, so I did find many gems here, but overall I only have a meagre 110 tracks in AC - I'm VERY picky, so usually LiDAR-only, or it has to be VERY accurate. I have a keen eye (photography, drawing as teenage hobbies) so I can tell if they are, based on IRL onboards. With historical tracks I'm a bit more lenient (they're harder to do accurately), so e.g. Österreichring backstraight flatness issue is OK, but the W.I.P. Mont Tremblant '69 on AssettoCorsaMods is not. But I'm happy that 90% of the list is now in AC as I don't like the other sims (rF2, AMS, R3E) that much for different reasons and they only have a couple of tracks each that are still missing from AC.

And I'm really afraid of the car mods, because I can't tell if they're physically well-modelled - I know some of the most well-known mods are accurate, e.g. the IER or some of the EGT cars, but I just really can't tell (I don't even know if the ACC conversions were ported well), and don't want to drive low quality mods. So much easier with tracks, where you can just... "see" if it's accurately simulated or not.

Cherish your feelings because statistically nobody has a clue.
Today I found a Proto C that doesn't feel like a kite. It's a good day.

Hahaha.
A lot of objects are hidden at the moment :)
I was hoping for the actual Crystal Palace in the bkgnd. (Full disclosure: it burned to the gunnels in 1936.)

Edit: that's the future Pit Straight in the foreground, going under the turreted bridge.

Edit 2: and that oval in the background was apparently used for auto racing. Map from 1937:

Well... if we're sharing things, this is my modlist for AC. I keep, update, add stuff of them and save it as my taste.

On some cars when watching a replay and using the TV camera, the driver helmet sits higher than it should. But when close enough to the camera the helmet pops into the correct position. Is there a fix for this?

My récord: over 3800 cars

At the moment... "only" 2245 cars (used 2120) and 251 tracks (used 251). 95% of time in Practice or hotlap.

My problem is that I have very little free time and I like to try different things all the time.

has anyone else ever experienced some sort of 'download rate restriction' on RD? Since earlier this evening I keep having to download mods from RD with 2,9 MBit/s. When I download something else at the same time the RD downloads are fast as well but on their own their back to slow...
