In general I don't have any smoke coming out of the tires while sliding with the new CSP version (even if I enable in ParticlesFX new smike and dust effect... that btw eat a lot of FPS)
Ah sorry, I mean trackside smoke and flares. I'd like to use them on the bellagio fountains.

pls start with the 918 Spyder Roadster :)
At the moment I'm stuffed with LODding looots of fictional GT class cars. It will take a while. Then I'm gonna race myself to death...

I guess so , if i unpack the data folder, to see the lods.ini file , this is the only content :
[COCKPIT_HR]
DISTANCE_SWITCH=7

and alot of the other ini files just have unreadable garbage in them, like :
this is the beginning of drivetrain.ini:

Do u have that car and can fix/drive it ? Maybe my copy just is damaged... Anyone a link ?
On original site the car is no longer available afaict.
Ok, if you check the data file of any other car with working LODs you should be able to fix that lods.ini file yourself, it's pretty easy. You just need the name of the LOD, the distance (use default then in case tweak), and the kn5 filenames of the LODs.

As for the garbled stuff, I haven't quite nailed the reason it happens. Don't think it's some kind of damage. Some ini files aren't always meant to be swapped between cars so they become garbled, that's one of things I've noticed and I don't know how much of that is 100% true or verifiable.

Sorry, I don't use street cars in AC, so I don't have that car. Annoying, I know.

Changing (partially) the subject, a question for the experts...
How can I keep the rims chrome effect on LODB?
I tried to prioritize the rim mesh but they always loose the reflection fx and get dark.

for me I still have smoke from the tyres, but it seems to generate only once the tyres became hot enough... so only after some long spin, and not at takeoff (for example using the Kunos 4588 GT2 at Spa to test, I was able to get smoke when doing donuts , but not seeing smoke when launching at start of the race). Indeed when I turn off CSP new smoke, I do see smoke at launch. (either way doesn't seem to affect my FPS here much)

(CSP 0.1.78-preview1 , Sol 2.2, Pure 0.75)

I'm afraid if i update that lods.ini file , and then Pack again the garbled ini files, i will end up w a useless data file ...
( i would like to put this online , so i'd want a packed data .)
But I will give it a try.

Seen me play this card before?
Jesus.
Honestly, you're reading far too much into this. There was no nuance, no hidden meaning, no enigma to unravel.
I said, in plain English, "Does he actually 'make' mods? Might be wrong but I thought he takes Kunos cars, updates some shaders, and puts NASA-surplus engines in them?".
A simple opinion, expressed simply, which you interpreted as an ad hominen attack and me somehow taking offence somewhere from you saying you liked his cars.
I can guarantee you that any layers of nuance you revealed were of your own imaginings.
Can't people say they don't like something without leaving themselves open to gynaecological analysis?
In fairness that works both ways.

All the guy wanted to say was he liked some modders work.
I honestly don't think AC does physic's very well, what it does do is FFB feel very well.

I'm not sure if people fully know what they are talking about is physics or just good FFB.

it did screw up my this car's data.acd file completely... but with a duckduckgo search I managed to find this link and get back a working version of this beauty! :)

Your fears are correct, you shouldn't pack garbled ini files. You can use/share a car with the data unpacked though, that's no big deal.
Unless you plan to race online. Then everybody you race with should have your version of the car.

Do you know which tracks would usually trackside smoke/flares like that? I can’t remember seeing any recently off the top of my head but I (and I’m sure others) can definitely check if other individuals are experiencing any issues.

You sir are a genius and I am certainly not. I completely missed that update - Sergio does so many of them this one had passed me by (looks like he's already updated Stardust too), thanks for pointing it out to me and thanks for the skin @racinjoe013
How do you check for his track updates? Does he send out emails? I just got a few of his tracks so I probably have the current versions, but I would like to know for the future. Thanks...

Yep, just by email, but if you click on the confirmation in the link you got when you bought it, it shows the latest version - Sergio handily adds upload dates to the file names too

Check some of the rally stages on RD, they definitely use them

…but unfortunately he doesn‘t use the version field in the json.

Nordschleife should have smoke, APVS Balcarce (paid) for sure. Gunnar’s Sachsenring probably… More should be easy to find by searching INI files for the appropriate config.

hey everyone hope you're all well, just adding some more grid/pit slots to a track which is something I'm not new to but on the track i'm currently doing it for the pit ones work fine and are positioned correctly but then the grid position one's just spawn in the centre of the map any ideas/help?

There are two spots in the recently dropped Le Mans 1970, where folks appear to be cooking out next to the track and the smoke is drifting over the barriers? That kind of thing?

A lot of that going on at Dragon Trail (gt_dragontrail) too.

I love the sounds of tires screeching on gravel and dirt in the morning. Why is every rally track like this? Is there not an option to change surface sounds? <serious question

tbf AC can do physics better than any (current) sim, but you can probably count on one hand the amount of people that can actually utilize that potential lmao

Gradually I intend to add other cars to the f1 1973 mod, both the beginning of the season (used in 1972 and practically already made, like the ones from half onwards), even if it doesn't get very good, it's going to be fun. That was it tonight, test at Zeltweg, Surtees TS14a J.Pace, Team Surtees print for the 1973 British GP, plus some small adjustments to make, but it ran smoothly on the track.

and Team Surtees at the 1973 Brazilian Grand Prix.

I remembered there's a fun rally track called La Cabanette that has some flares and campfires, both work for using CSP 178p1 and Sol 2.2, I'm using the Natural Mod PPF if that makes any difference and it looks the same in VR as well:

Replace suspension and drivetrain as per above suggestion on crsh porsche and it worked. Thank you
Is that a simple copy and paste job? Or is it a case of me having to watch a video on YT to work it out? It would be fantastic if it was just a copy and paste and then pack data jobby 👍

Basicly its just copy and paste. But you dont need to repack to a new data.acd if you have "Use unpacked data if exists" in Content Manager enabled. :)

@Pyyer : Wanna update your extension for the Nords?

I asked him if we will have the drag strip version of stardust later, we received an updated one but no answer and no signs of drag strip...

It would be such a shame to miss on opportunity like that :(

Say, I remember when that feature came along. I thought someone was going to do trackside grilling-BBQ & campfire smoke like in Forza?

The stuff that was on the 'Ring looked like a smoke bomb went off.
that would work well if you could integrate it with the podium aroma bar :)

Check out the Pico Veleta hill climb. It uses different coloured flares at the side of the track. You can see the first one at 1m10s
