The tech behind LCS is simply amazing and a glimpse to my crystal ball reveals: After Peter has adapted Pure everybody will celebrate the new lighting system.... 😉🥳🎉 The problem ATM is that you have to decide for one of it. If somebody is pushing the limits, mostly something great arises. But it need some time to be tuned. I'm 100% safe that LCS is the future lighting system in AC and in a few weeks or months we will all laugh about this discussion.
After much fiddling (no, not that kind), I'm gradually coming around to seeing the potential of LCS. The way light wraps around objects more naturally is a very nice thing. Grass shading looks a lot more detailed too, though it's a massive loss that it doesn't work with PURE – and probably won't for quite some time, if at all. For my money, the skydome clouds in PURE are the bees knees. Living without them is a massive backward step, as is the loss of all the other things that PURE allows you to adjust.LCS in that video kind of reminds me of the old PureCandy(?) PPF which I tried once and hated. Higher contrast, higher saturation, slightly cartoony look.
What I cannot make work to my liking with or without LCS is HDR. No matter what I try, the images always look milky and just plain wrong. I'll blame Windows, because I like blaming Windows for everything.
EDIT: I'm also finding the sunlight with LCS seems a bit hazy and strangely blue. Or perhaps that's just the mood that current world news leaves me in.
