I guess they lost all of their hosted mods -- A few months back I remember they had a message up asking for ideas on how to safely host hundreds of mods. Personally, I love Mega. Super fast if you just want to download from someone's account. Super fast if you want to just move file(s) into your account from someone else. At the moment they seem to have a buttload of Ferrari mods listed. It will take time, but I'm sure they'll get the other manufacturers sorted. I probably said it before, but I really like how they're attributing mods to their respective modder for proper credit. Also, they are now listing the version of the mod and/or what version of AC the particular mod was developed on. I think that's cool. It's organized and I think modders deserve credit for their work. Unless it's a crap mod....but now we have their name so we can throw rotten bananas at them if the mod is no good. :D

Have we talked about this new fantasy track, Sveg? I'm addicted. I really, really like the flow of the track. I've used the Huracan Performante, C6 Corvette, a few GT3 cars....a few older open-wheel like the Ferrari 312/67 and 312T. I just finished a 10 lap session with the Praga R1. I'm not a big fan of the Praga. I haven't driven it for ages!

I totally agree and I hope they keep updating it (and hosting via Mega). Some new cars were uploaded this evening (two TVRs and a Volvo).

I've started testing a whole bunch of mods from there, and there's some real gems that I haven't seen anywhere else. AC is already Ferrari-rich but there's a LOT of other models on there if you like the prancing horse. Some real belters, too.

Of the ones I've tested so far, the Cadillac Northstar LMP is well worth a play.

As is the rather mental Fiat X1-9 Dallara 1975 for entirely different reasons.

CM doesn't find anything to autofix in quite a few of the mods on there, but as ever, it's worth passing them through analysis before use.

In last few days I started having wierd intentions to bring Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, Aston Martin DB7, VW Passat W8, Phaeton W12, Jaguar XK X100, stock 90s JDM like Chaser, Cosmo Eunos into Assetto Corsa. But modelling those cars is a pain and I dont know what anti ripping fans think of using models from sites like Squir.

I think the vast majority of players don't mind ripped mods so long as they are good quality and not made for profit. :)

On another theme, does anyone know of an in-game app that lets you select external audio when in cockpit view? A lot of production cars are just too muffled when sitting inside. You switch to an external cam and there's this lovely raspy exhaust note, burbles and backfires that you just don't hear from within the car. Every so often the choice to switch audio would be nice.

I suppose you could do that now yourself by using an F6 cam. Open up the Kunos included camera editor which is near the bottom of the in game app list. Set one of the F6 cams up into the same position as your cockpit cam and then choose external audio. You can individually choose between internal and external audio on all six of the available F6 cams and you can customize every one of their positions, angle, tilt, field of view etc.

Also most of these models lack interiors. They can be quite expensive, too. But they would be good enough for GTA I guess.

BTW, do any bike mods exist for Assetto Corsa?

Sounds complicated, but it could work..! I've got about 600 cars - would it need doing for each one? ;)

Don't go paying money for 3d models, especially $75 each, and especially without interiors. There's a Russian site with extensive free downloads of car models ripped from other games. Use that instead.

I think that Stinger and Alpine will get models from games like PC2 or Forza. But, for others I just think that they'll never make them for these games. Especially, Eunos Cosmo, the only 3rotor production car. Also those models are way too detailed, Kunos models have around 300K polies.

I did not realized you were talking about 3D models. I am talking about AC mods.
Why are you interested in 3d models? are you a modder?
That Alpine

would be a nice addition.

Don't worry, in few months Alpine and KIA will be all over mod sites ripped from a AAA game. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes DLC. I am not a modder but kinda interested. But I would like to bring some cars that aren't usual mainstream Forza rips. But they are kinda hard to find decently modeled, and at reasonable price. I also have very very low modelling skills, and I don't have that much free time. Don't request anything people lol!

This is a kind of oddball addition I would like to make, like this Tommykaira uploaded to that Assettoland site. https://assettocorsa-land.wixsite.com/assettoland/tommykaira

I don't know who's behind the Assetto Land website but I appreciate what they are doing. I sent them a thank you and some words of encouragement via their 'contact us' page and received a nice message back. They said they are in the process of rehosting their huge mod archive, and it's going to take some time.

Do they test out each mod to see if they work and are of good quality?
The mods that show up on Assetto Land are mods that first appeared elsewhere and garnered praise for the quality of the work. Of course, there are also some modders who's work is going to be listed based on reputation alone. Sure, every now and then a clunker is going to slip by and end up in the listing of cars, but I still think it's a worthwhile place to go if you're interested in mods. I really like how they list the version of AC that was used to build the mod.

I know they've still got a lot of work to do - it seems like they're going manufacturer by manufacturer or something like that. I clicked on the Ford logo and couldn't believe how many freakin' Fords there are available for AC.

It's a fantastic project seemingly run by enthusiasts (a bit like the Reboot Project track updates), and they are definitely going about it the right way. It's also great that they are rehosting everything with Mega so there's no subs to pay or throttled downloads and arbitrary delays like that godawful Depositfiles service that some places use to generate click-through funding. Mega makes downloading their mods extremely quick and easy.

They also create their own mods (or certainly amend existing ones) according to the notes. It's a shame the cars aren't all run through the CM analyser/autofixer before upload for basic things like removing the driver's head, but I do that anyway with all car mods and it's very quick and easy to do. CM sometimes recommends changing sound files when it's not actually necessary anyway (I always test this first).

As regards the quality of the mods, I'm happy with the vast majority of what I've tested. I tend to treat car mods as a chance to drive cars in VR that are otherwise unobtainable in AC, and go in expecting compromises on interiors and Forza-like physics. Anything better than that is a bonus. I'd say the modding community in general is definitely getting better and better though, and shoddy hack-jobs seem to be a thing of the past now. But even overtly awful mods can still be fun - there's a Volvo S60 V8 silhouette car on Assetto Land that looks like a PS2 model with all sorts of internal modelling and graphical issues, but swap the sound out for something else (I used the Kunos Supra time attack) and it's actually a well-planted car that's a lot of fun to drive and race, so I'm very glad they uploaded this 'bad' mod.

To me physics matter the most, but it doesnt have to be 100% accurate. I saw that some cars have non functioning automatic transmissions, wrong number of gears, wrong drives. THose kind of details are annoying. Also one stupid thing I noticed that modders are able to make HQ ricefests yet no stock versions. Assetto Corsa could benefit from cars like Laurel I saw recently.

Also I hate when people put aftermarket wheels to otherwise stock cars.

To be honest I'd only be able to comment confidently on the physics of my own car if it was modded, but I've never seen an E92 335d mod, nor am I ever likely to..! ;)
So long as physics 'feel' relatively appropriate for the car type/spec then I'm relatively happy. There are plenty of official dev cars in AC, GT, FM, R3E etc etc that I think feel awful to drive, no matter how 'accurate' they profess to be. I have a similar philosophy about track accuracy. I know some people are extremely anal about this but I wouldn't know (and nor do I really care) whether any sim tracks are extremely true-to-life or not. Even if I'd driven multiple laps on them in real life I think I'd still struggle to find errors, unless those errors are blatantly obvious.

To me it's all about variety, new experiences, thrills and fun. Fun is the most important thing. I drive exclusively in VR now and having lots of cars (and tracks) to explore in stereoscopic 3D is pretty damn awesome, orders of magnitude more than it ever was in 2D.

Came here hoping for a solution. Left disappointed.

*closes wallet*

Off topic but are you the same guy that made a comment on neogaf a while back regarding why you refunded PCars 2, and that the reason was because of that nasty screen-flash bug while racing in VR? If so, I'm with you 100% man. Now I see for myself what you're describing, why you made such a big deal of it, and and why you stopped playing the game. That bug is very *VERY* annoying, distracting and damn near game-breaking! I seriously can't believe there's not more of an uproar at the PCars 2 forum over this bug! Everyone should have their pitchforks out demanding a fix for this ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a shame because I'm having a blast with the career mode. Also, PCars 2's graphics in VR mode are nowhere **near** as good as AC's or even iracing's for that matter!

Hey guys, I'm new here and have a few questions. I've been an avid sim racer since the first Gran Turismo (on a gamepad) and finally got my first wheel setup the week PC2 launched along with a Rift a few weeks ago, and am about to get committed to AC as well. Can someone please point me in the direction where I can find the best track mods? I would be interested in car mods as well, but only ones that are Kunos quality. Also, are there any apps I may want to run in VR? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome! Registering at Race Department should be your first port of call (http://www.racedepartment.com/). It's got the biggest archive of tracks, mods, apps, skins etc. and good scratch-built car mods. What you won't find there is ripped car mods, but Assetto Land (https://assettocorsa-land.wixsite.com/assettoland) are currently reuploading all their car mods and this looks like it'll be the best single resouce out there. Don't be a snob about rips, there are some excellent ones out there.

You should also get Content Manager (http://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html) to replace the default Kunos launcher as it adds incredible flexibility, control and useful features (too numerous to name). Donate a few dollars to get the full version, it's well worth it. You can use CM to analyse car mods and it'll auto-fix many issues caused by various AC updates since the mod was originally created. You can also drag-drop zipped car mods and it'll unpack and file them correctly.

Download Good & Bad Weather from Race Department to enhance the default weather options. I tend to run the Autumn option in VR as it's got a great combo of clear skies and moody dark clouds. I think it looks fantastic in VR.

There's loads more and I'm sure others here will pipe up with recommendations, but that should keep you busy for now..! AC is an amazing game on PC, and the wealth of mods and awesomeness of Content Manager means it might be the only sim you need. Read this thread all the way through too as it contains some fantastic tips and recommendations.

Thanks a bunch for the links and info! Exactly what I was hoping to find here.

F1C Formula Vintage, historic F2 & F3 racing
By team SBH
Model conversion: Donnie Heerdt /Smallblock Hero
Physics: Bazza von Dutch

The mod contains two car chassis which can be driven in F2 and F3 engine configuration.
Each car has it's own realistic suspension, however classes share the same engine for close racing.

Enjoy and may the downforce be with you!

Edit: suspension animations are broken?
