It seems there has been an update to the AC Legends Prototypes v1.16... The only new car in the pack is the Porsche 917K which we already have from Kunos. The file dates are changed on the data.acd of the other cars so there have probably been some updates to the remainder of cars in the pack - but that's just my assumption.

I have mixed feelings about the RSS GT1 Pack due to the price. By all means, they are certainly within their rights to charge any amount they want. Charge $100 for all I care. I just don't know if they would be worth it for me. As of now, I have zero intention of purchasing the pack, but who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Have any of you tried the Nordschleife 1965 track? I thought it was a blast. I took my Ferrari 250 GTO out for a spin and did a couple of laps and I'll tell you, that track was f'ing bonkers back then. A lot more blind crests & blind turns...no runoffs even at a place like Aremberg. It's challenging. Supposedly there was a new surface mesh created for this track, but it still feels oddly smooth.

I think the price is reasonable but I've got tons of excellent free mods so haven't yet bought it. I'd love to test this pack first. I'm sure I'd like it and would then probably jump in.

Sounds interesting - got a download link?

Ya know... When I was making that last post I thought that I red "2 new cars" but I looked over the car list and I only saw one new. I don't know why or how, but I already had the Lola T290 from them installed as a standalone maybe less than 2 months ago. I updated everything to match this new v1.6 standard, of course. I just finished running a stint with the Porsche 917K from their pack. I was just trying to compare lap times with the Porsche 917K Kunos pack. The ACL Porsche 917K was faster, but I noticed ACL lists the car with 630bhp versus 600bhp with the Kunos car. Plus , the ACL default setup is with maximum aero/wing settings - so it wasn't really a fair comparison of the two cars.

1965 Nordschleife: https://www.mediafire.com/file/3yzvmm2f1xfhkl9/Nürburgring+1965+v1.0+by+Rainmaker.7z

For your first lap, try to drive it at a good pace - you don't have to try for any World Record's... I'm curious. We all have driven the modern Nordschleife so much that we've developed some muscle memory and our brains can anticipate what turns are coming up ahead. I'd be interested to see if anyone makes it around without an off-track or crash. I sure didn't. I totalled my Ferrari 250 GTO completely. :D Oh, and use a car that somewhat matches the time period. No carbon ceramic Brembo's please. :P

Using GIMP, I have had myself the chance to design some liveries for Assetto Corsa skins. A combination of GIMP and Content Manager have helped me to get proper previews of machines as I design the liveries. There has been a problem I have faced- the cars appear just fine in previews... just that the cars look like they had gamma correction done. In other words, colors appear not only washed out, but also brighter than the original image. So to remedy this, I applied a layer in black and then changed that layer's setting to either Normal at 50% opacity or set it to Overlay. The normal 50% option darkens the image when flattened, but the colors aren't as rich. Overlay at 100% opacity offers the richest colors close to the original image, though it may make some parts of the liveries tough to make out. I know because I made one Roku-liveried car. Roku's colors use a fairly dark purple/violet color. And so while it appeared about the way I wanted to appear after flattening it, it may appear too dark to make out the sponsors or even the rest of the car itself.

Otherwise, I have gotten into the swing of designing liveries again after previously taking my skin designing to GTR2, rFactor, and even Automobilista. Never did I have so many DDS skinning problems with GTR2 or rFactor.

Damn. I've been meaning to recommend this car for the last few days and then I kept forgetting to post it.

There are 3 scratch-made versions of the Toyota MR2: Base, Tuned & Time Attack. The Base might be a little underwhelming to those who need speed to enjoy a car, but the Tuned version should please everyone - same thing with the Time Attack.

These cars were made by: Dariusz Przygoda
Hosted on his private group FB page: Dareks's Car Mods - Assetto Corsa
He is an extremely talented AC Modder - I highly suggest joining the group. He doesn't put out 1 car a week - his builds take time and you can see why. He does have a few other cars posted in the Files section of his group page.

If you share this 3 car pack, please leave the original ReadMe.txt files in the archive along with the car's body template.

I was wondering if anyone purchased the RSS GT1 pack yet. Anyone? Class...anyone? You must be able to use the Kunos "Auto-Blip on downshifts", right? How do the cars feel overall? Do the first three released feel balanced against each other?

Yes, not sure, and yes. I've bought it, I did within about a minute of release, and I've had an absolute blast with it. The cars are maybe slightly beyond my skill level, as they're very hard to drive (the Vortex especially), but after some setup they are fantastic, a real challenge. The cars don't auto-blip on downshifts, and I'm not sure if there's a way to enable it. But it's not hard to adapt to, just blipping on downshifts. The cars are fairly balanced, though not perfect. I think the 550 is a bit faster than the other two, though it did dominate the competition in 2003, so I think that's more accuracy than anything. I just regret not buying a sequential shifter a few months back when I had the chance.

^ I've also been doing my civic duty and doing what needs to be done. Someone already released one on Racedepartment earlier on, but it's really inaccurate, so here I am... Even though I can't export a .dds in 4K for some reason, for now I can only view in content manager using a .png.

And regarding the price, which seems to be a point of controversy. I have a job, and no money commitments, so it's no issue for me. But I certainly understand the problem other people would have, as AC is currently for sale on Steam at half the price of this singular mod. But remember, these guys are bringing amazing content that is in my opinion, in some ways better than Kunos content, and they have slaved for months working on them. And the difference to me, is that these guys are bringing content I truly want.

EDIT: Uploaded Team Oreca livery at Racedepartment.

I have a job and no money problems either, I pay iRacing every month and just recently bought nearly $40 worth of content. I also generally don't have anything against pay mods and have always been a big donator to modders, but when they're charging more than double what Kunos would charge for similar content I turn my nose up. I'd have no problem donating them $10 but demanding that kind of price is just unsavory to me. Especially knowing that these cars will very rarely be used online, paying that much for something that I will rarely use is just silly. Just my prerogative, nothing against the modders or those who buy the cars, I just likely won't be doing it.

Brandon! Hope your doing well. In kinda of a perverted way.......I am hoping that the AC payware model works out so that the price of cars goes up. Go to https://www.fspilotshop.com/ some time, there are absolutely hundreds of stunning FS aircraft available (and a few ugly ones) for $30, $40 and up to $100 each. I have some $60 aircraft and I can tell you, they are miles ahead of the $10 ones. I am sure there are rips everywhere, but those prices and that industry has spawned modders that create high quality assets for the flight sim industry. Makes our little AC niche look rather anemic but I am hopeful the motorsports sim industry can attract high quality mods that demand more money than the sim itself like FS does. Also, the https://www.avsim.com/ in some ways reminds me of RD, Sure, the flight sim market is bigger, but shall we dream a little bit....lol!

EDIT: Oh, if you peruse the AVSIM Library, you'll see that it has 202,000+ mod file  uploads.....

EDIT: Oh, @ALB123 , thanks for the MR2 link. Interesting and fun little car I remember seeing on the road back in the day. I cannot get any feel of tire slip (G27), even with it set at MAX, you having the same problem? Cheers.....

I'm away at the moment but when I'm back I'll post some links to some mod cars that I've had a fair bit of fun with recently. Purists might sniff at the physics of some of them but... whatever. Think of them as Forzaesque simcade cars and you might enjoy them.

You dont pay $60 for a "mod". You pay $60 for something that takes months or even years to develop, as it's the case with some airliners for flight simulators.

Others may pay $60 for it, I never would. VIR took several people over two years to make and it's one of the best mods available for AC, doesn't cost a penny, they don't even have a donate button. When they have a donate button up I have no problem throwing them $5-10 for a good scratch-built mod, but when they force you to pay for it I'm far less likely to send any coin their way. Nothing wrong with other people doing it if they want to, I just choose not to, at least not for the price they're asking.

I just happened to make this post in a PM earlier today regarding the RSS GT1 DLC pack:

They look great. They're probably worth the money. The thing is, I know I'm not going to drive them much after a few weeks. Now, I will buy all of the Kunos DLC, even if it were a pack of PoGo sticks that I'll never use. Why? Because their continued success means something to me. If RSS breaks up or never releases another car again, I don't give 2 craps. But if I can toss Kunos a little more revenue to keep getting licenses, which cost a lot of money, and producing great content and hopefully an Assetto Corsa II someday - I'm going to do it, no questions asked, as long as the price is reasonable and AC's paid DLC has always been more than fair in my opinion.

I am exaggerating about the pack of pogo sticks, obviously. 5 cars and 2 pogo sticks? That I could live with. :P

Oh man...I totally forgot something I've been meaning to post in here. I'm sure most of you remember that Content Manager has a feature where websites that host Assetto Corsa mods can have a 1-Click Installation process. You can see it next to the download button on a site like AC Drifting Pro. Race Department used to have it...You may remember the tantrum I threw when they removed it. :D Well, I just learned something a few days ago that is going to start saving a good amount of time when installing Mods from your computer.

Let's say you have a directory on your computer called D:\AC Mods\Cars for instance. So, you go to Race Department and download a few cars into that directory. Now, normally you'd have to decompress the .zip or .7z file you just downloaded and then copy/cut paste the files or directories into their appropriate location. Then you probably want to go clean up the empty folders the unzipping process made and whatnot.

Those days are done! I learned that you can drag & drop the archive, maybe 1966_Corvette.zip, from Windows Explorer onto any blank part of Content Manager and it will automatically pop up that green arrow icon in the upper-right of CM indicating an update, or in this case some new content. Just tap that green arrow icon and CM will auto-decompress and figure out which files need to go where just like doing the 1-Click Installation from a website like Race Department. You're left with no mess of folders to clean up. I'm sure you occasionally download a mod that is simply just the car's folder when you unzip, but something you unzip the mod you downloaded and the modder put in \content\cars\. Either way, Content Manager figures out where the files need to be. This is such a time saver if you like trying out a ton of mods.

It works for cars & tracks with no problem at all. It will also work with installing skins, but you have to take one precaution before you drag and drop an archive of skins for a particular car onto CM. You have to make sure the car that should be receiving the skins is selected in the Single > Drive > Quick Car Selector window. If you don't follow this one mandatory step, you'll end up with skins being installed for the incorrect cars.

You can CTRL+LMB to select multiple mod archives and drag & drop them into Content Manager or you can drag them one by one and once you're finished dragging over mods you can hit that green down-arrow. The rest is easy peasy.

I hope this helps some of you. Just saved me a ton of time updating some mods. Oh yeah, they don't have to be new mods...The drag and drop process is totally fine with upgrading.

I found a different method of making sure my car skins don't look overly bright. What I do in GIMP is that I change up Hue-Saturation values. I darken the Lightness to -75 and add about 15 of Saturation. This way, the car skin doesn't appear overly light or like faded jeans. One time, doing this method made one of my cars appear different. Some pure white segments of one of my skins started looking orange in the preview. So I may have to keep the car as is or maybe just darken the white parts separate from the rest of the car skin. Of course, I always try to flatten the image before doing any color work.

It is still strange I have mostly done skins for cars that don't come free with Assetto Corsa so far. It goes to show you that if you like Assetto Corsa, paying for the DLC from Kunos Simulazioni doesn't hurt. In fact, I am even considering doing skins for the Audi TT Cup car- another car not free from KS. The only car I made a skin for that was among the free cars was the Porsche Panamera Turbo, and that was just for testing purposes in making skins. I never made a true skin for it yet.

From Facebook yesterday. An update of an older pack. I'm away, so haven't tested these myself yet, but have heard good things:

GTS/Modern GT1 Madness for AC 1.14
by Mach77 (Christophe Schelfthout)
http://depositfiles.com/files/1y2lu6iwo
the models aren't mine. I just update them to the latest V10 tyres,
balanced them to get roughly the same lap time
and put some realistic sounds on them (eargasm)
pack includes:
-Chrysler Viper GTS-R 1996-2000 (rounded wing, H shifter)
-Corvette C5-R
-Ferrari 550 GTS
-Reiter Lamborghini Murcielago R-SV
-Matech Ford GT GT1
-Nissan GTR GT1
-Saleen S7R
-adjusted the already present GTS/Modern GT1 cars to balance them against the kunos MC12
-new realistic sounds for all the cars (eargasm incoming)
-realistic tyre size used
-some name changes
-Viper has H shifter
-ALL GTs have their ABS and electronic kicker removed. it's from 1996-2011, dude. no electronics beside sequential shifter and TC

Sweet RX-7. I like that dude Paul who runs Velo's Mods, but often I think he goes too far with cars that he "enhances". They end up feeling like slot cars. Too fast. Too much grip. I can't say anything about this specific RX-7 because I don't have the original release from x4fab and DimitriiA. Common problems I see with Facebook Group modders include: Chassis too stiff. Cars need softer springs - the car should have at least some roll. And worst of all, the Gran Turismo Syndrome, they use the stickiest tires for everything. :yuck:

I've had a little play with a few of them now. It's a bit of a mixed bag but there's some fun to be had in there. The Ferrari 550 GTS
and the Reiter Lamborghini Murcielago R-SV seemed like pretty solid drives on first impressions, even though the 550 sounded like an F1 car. The Viper's digital tacho seems broken, which is a shame. The GT-R doesn't seem to have any brakes.

Hey - it's free!

Sounds like a good opportunity to open those data folder and make those cars behave as they should.;)

This could be a nice opportunity to apply my knowledge on modelling and learn about modding data.ini's. First things first I'll have to acquire CM and then we'll see.

Since I've broke up with my girlfriend I've looking for a hobby, this could be it
