This shuto is about 100 km long and it's still WIP
It's meant to be used in the online server Assetto Corsa Pursuit so it doesnt have AI (you can only hotlap and practice in single player)
More complete versions will come

BTW the modder working on it is a guy who already received prizes for his modded tracks for rFactor
Yes...That's the one. Once it's "finished" I'll be all over that - hopefully they close off some of the exits that lead to nowhere with barrels or arrow signs. That would be a fun online experience with like 30 other people. :D

Thanks for the update riblo. Has the modder given any sort of ETA or ballbark esimate for when he expects to finish the track? Not really keen on driving incomplete versions where the road suddenly ends into nowheresville. :irked::indiff:

The guys running the server confirmed that all the useless riads leading to nowhere will be closed
First they have to decide if any of the dead ends could be useful for expansions of the map
As i usually play online in this server i am Always following the progression in the map completion

If you're a fan of Algarve International Circuit (Portimao), you're in luck! There is a new & improved version in the works. I've been testing it for the past couple of days. The Portimao that we already have is one of my favorite tracks...Top 5, I'd say.

It was interesting to compare the two layouts - so much of it feels the same, but there are some very clear differences in some of the elevation changes. This new Portimao is fantastic. The one we have now feels pretty empty, but I never really cared about that before. The new Portimao is anything but empty. A fair amount of eye candy, kind of like what Lilski does with his tracks, really helps with the immersion factor. I've asked if the alternate layouts would be included, but that hasn't been decided yet. I have a feeling they might not be included, but ya never know. I don't have an ETA for you guys yet, but I'm sure it'll be on Race Department soon™.

I can't wait to throw that 2 ton beast around...Or should I say, I can't wait to have that 2 ton beast throw ME around? :D

This is great news! I spent quite some hours learning the racing line on that track. Tried to make new AI too, because they were all over (and outside) the track. Will be great to get a new version. :)

Man that combined Shuto Expressway is crazy  I have been dreaming of driving all of those tracks in one huge free roam map, and now it's a reality. Funny how the Japanese players were keeping these tracks to themselves, but sooner or later we all get our hands on them too ;) Massive respect for the AC Pursuit guys that made this happen and sharing instead of hoarding it 👍 My only problem is finding a car that's fast enough to reach all areas without taking a whole day, without also running out of fuel

This is the reference link I use when checking these maps are complete or not: http://wanganmaxi-official.com/wanganmaxi5dxplus/en/system/course/ It's the track list of the Maximum Tune series of arcade racing games.

According to that site, the Metropolitan Tokyo & Kanagawa areas are *almost* complete.
Metro Tokyo comprised of - C1, New Belt Line, Yaesu (missing)
Metro Kanagawa comprised of - Wangan, Yokohane, Yokohama (missing)

Apart from that there are a few other scattered courses all over other perfectures of Japan, but they are not as famous so I doubt they would get converted. Also they all can't join up together like the Metro area courses do. I would love to see the 2 Hakone touge courses get converted though (Mazda Turnpike especially, because of the Initial D connection :D).

What's so cool about these courses is they are all based on real life roads too. I'll leave you this google maps link to find out how they are all connected (bonus points if you can find Gran Turismo's Tokyo R246 ;)).

Gosh man, you're getting me all excited to try this. But like I said, not til it's complete. Hopefully soon! :) How is it in VR? Anyone tried it? I can 't imagine how absurdly orgasmic driving this map would be in the PiMax!

By the way who are the "AC Pursuit guys" ? Link to their site?

OK Legend never mind I found it but here's my questions....

On their website, they have a version called "ACPURSUIT_SHUTO_C1_EXTENDED_rev0.7z" which clocks in at 229.2 MB. However, I went to their discord channel and some guy(presumably one of the track authors?) named Hyena The Boss just uploaded another version called "ASSETTO_CORSA_PURSUIT_december_2017.7z" which clocks in at a whopping 450.5 MB!! My question is which version is the more complete one and what exactly is the difference between the two? Do either of them still suffer from certain parts of the map leading to nothingness or has that been resolved already with these versions? He also says in the chat "(Mods and Japanese Dlc NEEDED)". What is he referring to? Which mods(other than the track itself) do we need, exactly?

I'm assuming he means you need one of the track mods and the Japanese DLC to get on the AC Pursuit server
Hé also runs mod cars n that server, if you use Content manager they are fairly easy to get, you don’t have to drive them but you need them to accès the server.

Thanks. Anyone who's using that latest version ran into any abrupt ends to roads that leads to nothingness yet?

Yes. The latest version of Shuto is not totally complete and in new versions the access to dead ends will be blocked

As others have said, the smaller file contains the track only. The big file contains the track, a few cars (including the Mine's R34 posted a few pages back), updated maps with colours for each section, and a choice of weather/ppfilters for dawn and night driving.

I think the track is mostly complete tbh. Just add in the missing sections I posted above, block off dead end roads and add a version without street lights (it's too distracting driving in the day with lights on). As a temporary measure to avoid falling off, I have the full track map and the AC (more zoomed in) map open when driving to check out if taking the next intersection will lead to my death or not

The only problem is the big file has 3 colored maps, which doesn't show in the AC vanilla map app. You need to grab the barebones map from the small file, rename that to "map", and rename the 3 colored maps to "map1/2/3". Then you can use the 2 maps combo as I do.

There is already a rev1.7z available...I couldn't tell you the differences between rev0.7z but it must be the more current version.

I hate to say this, but Assetto Corsa may be the new rFactor. Especially in regards to mod content. I still think "Sports Car GT" made "rFactor" possible from its modding community. rFactor was surely popular with all kinds of mod content. However, I look at Assetto Corsa, and I note all kinds of mods for that too. Not only that, but sort of the simplicity of designing such content. I remembered I saw a video on how to make a track for AC using Blender and even the developer tools. It is all hard work, but it isn't cumbersome. Just making a simple track using your modeling techniques and skills doesn't take too much work. Polishing and enhancing it to be a masterpiece, though, will take some time; but at least you get a solid start if you're making a track for AC.

With this being said, I am tickled pink with a number of the mods for Assetto Corsa. In fact, on one site, there was some 7K or so mods for AC- more than Automobilista, rFactor series, and the GTR series combined! Maybe haters of AC will probably agree modding is where it's at for Assetto Corsa. I surely will want to try out mods should I eventually get Assetto Corsa.

[UPDATE] 7K mods on (that site), not 9K.

Agreed, well stated......:bowdown:...and I can't help compare what MS Flight Simulator became for the aviation enthusiast modding community and what AC might very well become for motorsport hardcores. Heck, even the AcClub Content Manager Mod reminds me of the legendary FS Manager APP created by just one guy some 20 years ago. I think we have a gem here in AC and I look forward to going along for the ride......

After the excellent Winter and Autumn track mods for Monza, Spa, Nords etc I'm hoping somebody will do a lush green winter mod for Laguna Seca. It really does look like a different environment from November through February, but almost every version in every racing game has the same beige summer dust bowl version.

IMO, not really. rFactor had great mods, mods of racing cars, mods with complete series of cars, great mods. AC has a real hodge-podge of mod cars, there are no complete series, there aren't even many cars that can race together or with Kunos cars. We have a tennis ball on wheels, an airplane, a lawn mower, old Citroen passenger cars, Lada's, but we don't have a CART mod, or a BTCC mod, or a SuperGT mod, or many of the classic racing cars that you'd think would be no brainers. We don't have mods for Lime Rock or Sonoma or Watkins Glen, instead we have all kinds of weird tracks that very few people have heard of. Makes no sense to me. This is not to disparage the work of the modders, they are free to make what they want of course, and there are plenty of good mods out there just not nearly as many as you'd think or want.

I guarantee most of them are rip jobs from other games that aren't worth the HDD space for anything other than AI grid filler.

I was speaking of non-ripped mods. You can find ripped mods of pretty much anything you like but their accuracy and quality is questionable and I generally don't mess with them. Not trying to be high and mighty, I just generally steer clear of them for a variety of reasons.

I think the vast, vast majority of car and track mods have questionable parentage (or grand-parentage), and even a lot of 'scratch built' ones use geometry or assets from commercial products in one form or another. The morality aspect is a never-ending discussion.

Right, and the morality part of it doesn't play much of a factor in me avoiding them. It has more to do with knowing some care and attention was put into making them as good as possible. A lot of those rip jobs are just quick wham-bam jobs where they only did enough work to get them working in the game but didn't put any effort into trying to make them good or right. I like to know the car feels at least somewhat authentic, otherwise there's no point in driving it for me.

I've driven each of those in AC.

I drove the Watkins Glen last night and it is really good. If I remember, the Sonoma I've driven is pretty good too.

I don't know exactly where, probably off a Facebook or Youtube link.

I've tried mods of all three and they were all rubbish. The Sonoma one is one of the worst mod tracks I've ever seen and the Lime Rock one had literally zero surface feeling. Obvious quick rip jobs. I just prefer to stick to the mods at RD, just a personal thing, there's usually at least some level of quality there and you get notified when they get updated.
