@JohnBM01 - I sort of know what you mean about colors in the custom showroom versus on track or in a Kuno showroom. I've painted up a couple of cars only to find that the colors I was using looked different in the CM Showroom and it was because I was using a CM Showroom Preset that was using multiple lights. The Kunos graphics engine only uses 1 light. Fortunately, all of that will change with ACC.

Be sure to set up the light sources and brightness and such for your CM Showrooms while viewing a KS car. I made the mistake of changing everything to make a mod F1 car look good (was one of the '95 F1 season cars), and found out the hard way when I looked at a car with good shaders in CM showroom, and it was all overexposed and looked like arse. I changed all the settings to suit a KS car, and then realised how bad the shaders are on those F1 cars. I managed to find someone who'd fixed the shaders for those cars, but I downloaded them, and when I had a look in CM showroom, they'd somehow managed to make the cars about 50% bigger than they should have been. It looked ridiculous enough to give me a giggle, but was kind of annoying, as I was glad I'd found the F1 cars with fixed shaders, only to find they were broken in a different, and more significant way.

Anyway, at least now my CM showroom preset is set for KS cars, so it'll show up any flaws in the shaders of mod cars now. We need someone who is a bit handy with modelling here, because there are some really good mods that are simply outdated now and need various small fixes (like the aforementioned shaders n the '95 F1 cars).

I always liked Istanbul Park. It's a real rhythm-based track kind of like when F1 used to race Magny-Cours.

I mentioned that I installed my first mod of any kind of Assetto Corsa when I downloaded the Ginetta G55 GT4 mod. In my usual runs, I had a chance to race it. It was a very good mod. I possibly want to try to provide skins for this car. I do have a track or two I downloaded also. So I hope to add that as my first third-party track used in Assetto Corsa.

For when I decide to release skins, I downloaded a mod just for some guidance. So I know what to do and how to structure folders for when I release my first skins.

I want to close by showing you an example of Content Manager lightning settings I have been tinkering with. I want to share one of my past designs and a recent update to the livery I made. These two pictures are examples of me trying different scene settings in CM. Don't pay so much attention to the liveries, but more towards some of the lighting touches I used:

What I did was decrease the lighting for the scene as well as make the light source not as bright. And as you can tell, I added a mirror reflection for a little extra elegant pictures. Having an overall black scene with a reflective floor is reminiscent of how cars were featured in "Sports Car GT." One of the biggest changes I made was going from 300% ambient brightness (which explains why I toned down the gamma on my images previously) down to 250% ambient brightness. I have Brightness at 50%. I would love to make my own scene for making more elegant and beautiful pictures, but I am the "quality over quantity" type. The ambient light is at white (255, 255, 255 RGB value). The one thing I question was whether or not to stick with mirror reflections or have blurred mirror reflections for taking car screenshots. I disable the mirror floor when I try to make car + team pictures.

Now that I've been in the skinning groove of late, I am still enjoying working with Assetto Corsa skins. I already began work on a number of other possible cars I want to make skins for.

Damn, that St. Luzia is gorgeous. Wow. I've been a bit absent from the AC scene for a few days and look at what I miss. Thanks for sharing, both of you guys. Oh, @rcallsign - do you live in Portugal? You sure seemed to know a lot about that hillclimb to St. Luzia. I enjoyed the narration you provided. 👍

I'll give that ACU Istanbul track a try when I have a chance. I know that I used to have a fairly sizeable number of tracks installed labeled ACU. If I'm not mistaken, they did Bathurst and they made a night version of some track which I hated...which track it was escapes me at the moment. Ugh. I can't even remember what ACU stands for. :boggled: :banghead:

BINGO! I've been using Content Manager's Showroom for so long, with custom made presets from other people, I think I forgot that the person who made the preset might not have used default lighting...and when I checked, yup! They tweaked lighting color, brightness, etc. and as you pointed out, that isn't always the best lighting for cars that have flaws, or whatever.

You have a very interesting way of writing. :) I'm glad to see you're enjoying everything Content Manager has to offer. I haven't been able to wrap my head around the new neural network thingamajig x4fab is introducing to CM for building proper tires for a vehicle. I'm assuming his efforts are to put an end to people putting on tires that are so wrong for their cars...I haven't fooled around with it yet, but I was hoping to find some type of documentation - a forum post or two - from x4fab explaining things. I was nervous and didn't want to create a black hole. :nervous:

I took a peek at your website @JohnBM01. You've got some nice skins created for Assetto Corsa. 👍 I thought the Coca-Cola/Pizza Hut livery was cool. So was the FedEx skin on the GT86. Good job. :) I don't know if you're aware of this, but you can assign Team Names, Drive Names & Nationalities to skins, if you want to, in Content Manager. For instance, you mentioned Sodexo being a French company and therefore you want it to belong to a French racing team.

All you have to do is go into Content Manager > Content > Cars > Select the car that has the Sodexo skin (Porsche 911 RSR). Now, Right-Click on the car (Porsche 911 RSR) and select Manage Skins. A new window will pop up showing the car and there will be a list of all the skins available for that car. The rest should be self-explanatory. Just don't forget to hit SAVE with each Skin you edit. Now, whenever that skin is used by an AI Driver, it will always have the Driver's Name, Team Name & Nationality you assigned to it.

Now, let's say that you have 4 different Skins for the Porsche 911 RSR, but you've only assigned a Driver Name, Team Name & Nationality to one of the skins. Well, when you're putting together the list of cars you'd like to race against, hit the button Detailed Settings. It's to the right of the Plus Sign where your Driver Candidates list it. Inside Detailed Settings you'll see how you can assign a specific skin to a specific car, plus you can apply specific Strength & Aggression percentages to each of the cars in this race/track day. Oh, and you can apply individual Ballat & Restrictors to the cars.

That might seem tedious and the first couple of times it may be. However, you can also do a Save Preset on that Detailed Settings page! For instance, let's say you want a field made out of GT3 cars, GT2 cars & GT1 cars. You list all of 'em in the Candidates column. Now go into the Detailed Settings and assign skins, ballast or restrictions. Save that as a Preset. Now, every time you have one of these GT1, GT2 & GT3 races you can use that preset which is as quick as selecting it from the drop-down box.

Something I recently discovered... Let's stick with the above example and lets just say that there is a total of 25 GT1, GT2 & GT3 cars and you've got them all listed in the Candidates section. Let's say that you want to do a 10 lap race with a total of 12 opponents. Content Manager will randomly pick out 12 cars, if that's what you want...Go enjoy your race. But, at the last minute you decide, "I want to race 12 AI drivers, but I only want a total of 4 different types of cars making up that list of 12. Now, you could either make another Race Preset and only list 4 cars in the candidates list, but then you'll always race those 4 manufacturers. That's not what you want. So, what you do instead is you keep that full candidates list and you click on the 3 dots (to the left of the Plus Sign) in the Candidates section. Car Variety Limit is Off by default. Change it to 4. Choose either Random or Shuffle as the Arrangement (I leave it on Shuffle which is the default).

Now hit the GO! button. You'll see that Content Manager came up with a unique starting field and there are a total of 13 drivers. You plus the 12 AI drivers. The AI drivers with be comprised of only 4 different types of cars. Is all of that a bit superfluous? Sure...But, it's there if you really want it. That concludes today's lesson. Pop quiz tomorrow!

I know you can set up names and stuff within that JSON file in each individual skin. I'm aware of that. I mostly just assign certain variables like the skin name and the team name. Sometimes even, the nationality of the team. Now that I've concentrated on both car skin designs as well as team (and even driver) designs, I am stepping up my efforts to make unique skin packages for vehicles.

And cheers to you, ALB123 for being fond of some of my designs!

Yesterday, I donated money to get the full version of Content Manager. So I now have the full version and all it has to offer in freely viewing material without having to load Assetto Corsa. No doubt this program is a boon for modding for Assetto Corsa.

Hopefully we will see this road loop released soon™. It's awesome! 👍

Sorry for the volume being so low...I thought I bumped it up before uploading to YouTube. It sounds like I made it quieter... It's such a nice sound when you hear the Lambo go past a camera point off into the distance...it fades away but you still hear that echo. Love that! :D

I"m looking for this two cars , maybe some of you gays have it. NSU Prinz and renault 11

The gays may have it, but I wouldn't limit the search to just them...maybe a heterosexual person has them?! :D

I just spent an hour looking everywhere I could for those cars. I've never even heard of the NSU Prinz. Are you certain it's available for Assetto Corsa? I only ask because immediately I found search results for R3E, like this link:

As far as that Renault is concerned... It's made by that modder J3D. User profile on RD: http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/authors/j3d-modding.241957/

He lists it on his personal modding website: http://j3dmodding.com/offres-tarifs/ but he doesn't have any links to the vehicle. If you notice, he's trying to make money off of these things. I've never been fond of his work. Sorry I don't have more info for you, Silvio.

EDIT: This isn't the Renault 11. It's a Renault 5 Turbo Group 4, but it might be a fun little car to boogie around with. http://www.mediafire.com/file/rldauxg36dpt4xn/renault5turbo2_gr4.rar

Haha  sorry i didnt notice that little detail ( gays)... Well i found who have NSU prinz mode for AC , Now i"m bagging him to get it. Still no answer i can only pray he will share it

Heads up, people: if you sign up for the F1 Classic forum (where a lot of well-known track modders hang out) then this link will take you to a list of just about every Assetto Corsa track mods ever released, with download links. There are some real beauties in there (Autopolis, to name but one of many) that will never see the light of day on Race Department due to boring legalise. I think there's about 800 tracks listed..!

I also looked every where for that car, would be nice to have it.

Yep, f1classic is saved in my web browser favorites list along with RD and reboot sites. I remember when I first found the site and got lost in it for a week testing all the tracks. For newbies to f1classic site, make sure you are well stocked with water and supplies.

I may have to try Autopolis again. It might have been one of those “almost there” tracks for me. Example: Rainmaker tends to have a number of those tracks with lower quality graphics/textures.

It"s a huge list but i found 2 type of tracks what i was long looking for. I recommend MainzFinthen 1989 and Mendig.

I still haven't added a track to my AC roster. I do have one, just haven't installed it yet.

I really needed to try to make better racing number plates. A recent car I skinned was more closely followed by another mod. So what I did was make a livery for the Lotus Evora GTC. To make a better racing plate for a car, I took the Battery Tender Evora GTC and while not so much "steal" it, but make a graphic similar to it. I basically just took the number plate and edited a lot of its look but keep it as close as possible to the original product. Now through GIMP, I can design certain number plates and apply them to cars. I am mostly focused on some of the more original ones. So far, I have used the racing number plates similar to IMSA sportscars, 24H Nürburgring cars, and whatever series uses the Premio (a German auto repair company) number plates (like on the Scuderia Glickenhaus P4/5 Competizione).

Other than that, not too much new from me on the modding front.

Sorry that I couldn't help you locate it. To be honest, I had never even heard of the NSU. But since I had been looking for that car & the Renault 11 for quite some time, I got in the mood to drive an oldie-but-goodie. I whipped my Peugeot 504 TN Sport around Hope Racetrack. I can't even remember where I got the updated version - oh, the current version is found on AC Club. The car was made by x4fab and a couple of his buddies. It may still benefit from another look over, but I think she's fine just the way that she is...She's on v10 tires and all that jazz.

Ahhh...That's Rainmakers stomping ground. WTF...I just went there to take a look at the list and I couldn't get into my account. I created one a long time ago. Couldn't get in...Believe it or not, I often have trouble registering with the nick ALB123. So, sometimes I use ALB1234 or something to that effect. I don't know if that's what I used here, but you can't ask for a password reset with just the user e-mail account. You need the username AND e-mail account. So, I'm stuffed. Welp, create a new account...

Wow. That is a long list. It's a shame that they aren't listed with a creation & last updated date. There's no doubt going to be some major stinkers in there. Thanks for giving some recommendations gentlemen. Saves me the trouble of guessing what might be decent. You know, I've probably had to re-install AC 4 or 5 times since the day I purchased it. There have been a couple of times where I just copy > Paste the /tracks/ folder to a temp folder so I can just move it back once my reinstall is complete. Then I started saving the files in compressed form if I keep it installed in AC...now that AC will decompress and install everything where it's supposed to be I can keep 'em in rar or zip format to save space.

Still, there are some tracks that I can't seem to freakin' find because I can't remember the track name...just that I really, really liked but forgot to back up or lost it some other way. So now I look at lists like this and it's pffft! I'll never find it. My life needs a DVR, preferably with a few PB storage space.

How do you do this?
View the car in CM Showroom. Click on the part. In my case, it was the windshield. You will see the part highlighted with an outline, and the window/menu bar description will display the material and texture names. Click on the vertical 3 dots icon to the right of the material name (my example: “window”). A new window will pop up with the shader properties. At the bottom of the window, there is a button named “Change values.” Click on it. Start editing.

I have no clue about shader properties. I did some quick reading on AC official forum and found Kunos’ default shaders for a number of parts, including glass/windshield. Those didn’t work for the D-Type. Then I tried the shader properties from Ferrari 250 Testarossa mod because I like the transparency in that windshield. (1958 open top racer; D-Type is 1956 open top racer.) The Ferrari shaders work for me.

Doesn't CM just blow your mind? And following that same pathway you were taking, you have have CM spit out a map of whatever section of the mesh you have selected, like maybe you wanna add a pinstripe along the side of the car but have it follow the contours of the car & wheel arches. Or, if you're working on tweaking a mod of your own...I don't know...Let's say you were trying to tweak the windshield visor sticker to say "ALB Racing", but you weren't settled on font choice, size, colors, etc..The custom showroom will realtime update the vehicle you're looking at in the showroom as soon as you re-save the file in Photoshop with changes.

Holy crap...Look at the changelog from today. I gotta figure out what this wizardry is about downloading mods....

I'm pretty sure I had Autopolis installed at one point. The name sounds so familiar. I started using Assetto Corsa in the first weekend of October 2015. Right away I started looking for cool mod cars & tracks. This is back when the official support forums allowed us to have mod creation threads, mod distribution threads...pretty much everything that you see on Race Department used to be on Kunos's server. Rainmaker was probably the first username I remember seeing all over the place in the tracks section. He brought over tons of converted rFactor tracks and that was pretty awesome. The problem most people were having with his tracks is he wouldn't create a physics mesh for the driving. People were nice at first. Complimenting him on his work, but then adding stuff like "You know what would improve your tracks tremendously? Create a physics only road mesh!" I think he just ignored that in the beginning. Then people started to just flat out say, "Dude...You're spending all of this time getting the track into AC, why would you not do the very last step? It would make the tracks significantly better..."

Then we started seeing insults thrown around...Seasoned modders would say things like, "If you just don't want to do it, give me the files and I'll freakin' do it..." It just got worse and worse until Rainmaker finally said, "I don't need this crap. I'm done with this place." and I'm pretty sure he kept his word on that matter and never uploaded another mod to post on the Official Modding forums. To this day, I still can't understand why Rainmaker just flat out refused to make the separate driving surface mesh or allow a well known modder to make them for him. Lilski, for instance, has done a ton of uncredited work for many track builders. So, it's not like anyone was trying to steal Rainmaker's thunder. I couldn't understand back then and I still can't understand why Rainmaker was so against it. And as you pointed out, @OooAhh Cantona, a lot of his tracks, dare I say the majority of his tracks could use a full facelift with new textures and smoothing out jagged white or yellow lines, fix trees, etc.

One of the benefits of VR is that older tracks still look great..!
I've wondered about that. That's really good to hear.

Try these to start with. From memory I reckon they are worth a few laps to check them out.

Dammit. My Content Manager broke. I'm missing CONTENT > SERVER section headings up top. Or is that by design since we have the hamburger menu icon that brings us to Content ?

Try these to start with. From memory I reckon they are worth a few laps to check them out.

Let me know what you think.
@ALB123 : Dijon-Prenois is one of those Rainmaker “classics.” Visuals are actually not bad, but the road surface is just annoyingly bumpy. <ahem>... physical mesh.

And... once you figure out the new CM Mod Shop, please teach the rest of us cult followers.

Well, don't I feel like a fool..I don't know how I missed it the first time I read the Changelog, but the removal of Content & Server is because of that new hamburger menu. However, if you really want it you can go into CM Settings via Hamburg menu and make sure you are on Content Manager > Appearance. There is a check box on the left "Add title links for Content and Server sections". I think I'm going to try running with those two hidden and see if I can get used to that new hamburger menu.

No way... What a jerk. That's J3DModding.com, right? Man, I knew there was something I didn't like about that guy, going all the way back to when I first came across one of his mods on Race Department. Rude and arrogant and thinks very highly of his work while criticizing others. Screw him.

While reading your chat with him, when I got to the part about 24 cars I went, "WHAT?!" I jumped into Explorer and looked at my folder...I thought to myself, "Damn...Silvio only shared one of those cars out of 24?!" ;) :guilty: I read his writing to mean 24 different cars just like you did...so it's not like you misinterpreted what he wrote. If I were you I would have been expecting the same thing too. Before anyone says, "24 cars is ridiculous to think...maybe 2 or 3 cars at the most!" the reason I disagree is because I've come across some other modders, like a J3DD - they tend to be capable of quality comparable to J3D Modding. Not awful, but no where near A3DR.

On some Russian site, I believe it was a Lada, but I'll never remember the model number. Anyway, this modding "team" was selling that Lada and there were like 10 different versions of the car. One would come with windshield removed. Another with rear boot cover removed. One with dropped suspension just a little bit, but I think it came with wider tires. And that's not even counting the various Steps they were including. Several of these Steps/modified versions were offered in RHD & LHD too. There was a ladder of cars with increasing power. These guys would say things like, "added MagnaFlow exhaust, replaced front brake calipers & pads to Brembo"... you know, stuff like that getting into the spirit of simulating the vehicle. Hmmm...It wasn't a Lada. This is going to drive me nuts and I probably won't be able to find the site...ugh!

Has anyone used Mod Shop yet? It's awesome!! :D  I don't even know how he thinks up these features.

Who hell he? Never heard of Mod Shop. Shall investigate.

Edit: need a link buddy. Google is sending me all sorts of odd places.

Edit 2: I'm a dumbass. Of COURSE you were talking about CM. D'oh!

Gotta say I don't like the way car and track mods are now installed - it's more fussy than before and needs an additional mouse click. I can't understand the reasoning behind it.
