I'm proud of what the whole update team achieved with Brno, and will defend it (and them) if anybody tries to hijack our work and present it as their own by editing and reuploading it elsewhere.
Wouldn't you?
You're right,
but I wouldn't make such a big deal out of it. A PM would have been enough to clear things up. You don't have to denounce anyone on Racedepartment.
ClimaxF1 does good work for all of us
Even you benefit from its good textures, right?
That's why the noise you're making is wrong.
This isn't the first time you've done this
This can be cleared up in another way
This means we're losing more and more good modders who give us their good work for free
Sorry for my words, but that's just my opinion

Erm, people here DID point out that what he was doing was wrong but he refused to do anything about it until RD took the full track down.
And losing modders? The main reason modders seem to quit is because of their work being taken, edited and reuploaded elsewhere, which is all that we were fighting against here with Brno.

X90
(..) if you are creating a mod for a track or car, please only include the files that are directly relevant to the mod itself. Obviously, I'm wise to this now - but clicking in and looking at your folder, if I were to update my Brno using your file, I'd lose KevinK2's custom AI and my own tailored ui_track.json for absolutely no reason at all.

There is no reason a texture update should change anything about the UI, AI or anything of that nature whatsoever. I'm sorry.

I am appreciative of your texture updates, but the way you go about them is strange and counterintuitive. On Breathe's list, there are countless updates to the right of track descriptions that can be wiped if not careful - and in this example, a clean-sweep of all the files for this one update would do just that, unjustifiably.
(..)

(..)
  • Start line position corrected; start lights/clock/lap counter/session timer added; new billboard models added; new sponsors added; animated jumbotrons added.
  • Camera-facing spectators and animated flag-waving spectators added.
  • Marshals, TV vans, recovery trucks, camera cranes and cameramen added.
  • Crowd and pitlane audio added.
  • Physical road mesh and groove added; sausage kerbs and green runoffs added.
  • Redundant treewalls removed; floating trees fixed; new trees planted.
  • CSP animated flags added to pit buildings and grandstands.
  • Animated helicopters, blimp, hot-air balloons, and distant airliners added.
  • Night lighting and basic RainFX added.
  • New AI line created; sections added; loading logo added.
(..)

I hope I'm not offending anyone when I raise this point, but for the same reasons X90 mentioned shouldn't most of these additions be a separate add-on as well?

Not meant as a dig at you. But does it need to be an 'official' update, including upping the version number, every time?
It can get a bit tiresome to see there's a new update, to then find there's only more of the same added.

Can't you create an add-on with all your additions, just like you expect ClimaxF1 to do? Seems to me a fair playing ground.
That way the end-user can decide for themselves if they want these additions or not.

Yes,
but you used his textures and didn't give him any credit
as he wrote and as I saw
so you did the same thing that you accuse him of
and that frustrates good modders
I have said my opinion and now I don't want to discuss it anymore
Peace:cheers:

Not the same thing though.
When the creators of a track update various things you expect changes with an update, when you download a texture pack or skin your don't expect changes to 3d models etc, just textures.

Kicked the hornet's nest here a bit. I'm not surprised there is more behind the scenes. So that solves the mystery of the bizarro updates.

I'll say this - the reality of the situation is, the work of the original authors needs to be respected - right down to the finest detail. If those intending to mod a track aren't interested in putting petty BS between them and the authors aside, then there are countless other tracks to work on made by other modders.

The uploading of the entire track, which strangely now seems intentional (and almost earned an RD ban) is inexcusable and potentially puts RT in the crosshairs again for using the road mesh from a 17 year old game (the horror!). Not worth the scrutiny for what seems like self-induced teenage drama.

So don't you have my work included in your track, it works both ways.

It was you that tried to take my upload down and spread misinformation, this why I was given a opportunity to defend myself and everything was reversed.

I meant no harm with my previous upload as I didn't think it was a problem, I guess I made a mistake which did apologize for and corrected it.

Can we not move on from this and rather look at this track as one of the prettiest tracks AC has to offer.

Nothing has changed, have corrected my upload and all credits are there to the entire team.

Everyone's contribution should rather be celebrated than tarnished.

I just wish you knew how much time the 3d remodeling took, how many hours some people spent from their personal time to fix or improve things. Then you could decide if all these could be exported and released as an addon.

These are official track updates from the team themselves. Big difference. Yes, some version updates are minor - but it's theirs all the same.

Far different than someone outside the team making an external change.

The argument could be made that updates could be more spread out/reduced in number - that's valid, no one likes reinstalling or getting bogged in version messiness - but I think the cadence of updates for Brno was just fine.

But he WAS credited. In fact, he was the ONLY contributor who was specifically named in the changelog. I've already stated this. All of the active team members were listed separately in the 'author' section, where their names are actually less visible.

There's not much difference in the time consumed and hours spent.

Everyone has different skill sets and all these take hours, days and lots of testing.

Combined you get the best possible result.

Creating new textures or updating them and setting lighting can take days and many hours.

I would love to know how many hours have gone into this track combined because it's one of the prettiest tracks available.

Its all become a bit hilarious here, Reboot team is complaining about @ClimaxF1 mod, while @Johnr777 is complaining about Reboot team ripping activities at Overtake and Discord.
Guys, please work together, no need for a fight, this can be solved.

This was never my issue, in one of your previous uploads everyone was mentioned except me. I'm not talking about the author section in the ui folder which nobody looks at.

Your upload had no mention of me yet you used all my textures, vegetation, new tree's and day night lighting.

Can we not move on and just appreciate what everyone has done for this track.

I will delete my upload if we can find a way to combine everything and make my upload as a banner update.

This way there will be no confusion and the community will have the best possible track.

I'm sorry if you find the updates tiresome, there probably won't be any more unless a significant issue is identified. There's really not much left from the original track folder, even the main kn5 is completely different now, not to mention all the new trees, TSOs, spectators, flying stuff, 3D environment etc etc so just creating an add-on wasn't really the way to go. It wouldn't really have been practical. Our original v2 had a unique folder name to preserve the original track anyway, so anyone can still use that one as well if they want.

Why is reboot team complaining about me, my work is only texture updates and settings.
