Hello everybody, I'm not sure this is the right place to post this so sorry if it's not...

After years of not playing any sims, I was excited to get back into AC with Evo. Trying it was cool but the limited amount of content didn’t scratch that itch I got from not playing for so many years, so I want to get in the original game. However it seems like so much has changed that I feel kinda lost.

Back then I was an impulsive mod collector, CM tells me I’ve accumulated 1155 cars and 274 tracks. I was always looking for mods to collect from various sources: I joined countless FB groups, forums and I dug some obscure websites to get hard to find mods. I really liked managing all the content I got, tinkering with stuff to make it better etc. Honestly I had more fun doing that than driving haha.

Yesterday I got up to date with all the new features in CM, downloading the new CSP version to see what’s new and installing the latest version of Pure. It’s impressive how things have changed. However it seems that all the places I used to get mods from are either dead or abandoned. Before spending time looking for new sources I thought I’d ask some questions here:

- What are the best places to get mods ? (is Assetto Land still around ?)

- What are the most essential mods to have ? (tracks, cars, others ?)

- Are there any features from CM/CSP/Pure that I should know ?

- Are there still some obscure places to look for ? (FB groups ? forums ?)

Back then I also purchased some mods made from scratch by talented people, I only remember Race Sim Studio. I was willing to pay for the mods because the price was fair and the quality was excellent. Are they still around ? Are there other groups making such mods ?

Now on a more controversial note. There were other groups making paid mods out of conversions from other games: RTM, Sim Dream, Assetto Drive, Assetto Garage, etc. Are they also still around ? Their mods were fun the tinker with and make better. I used to download them from sources that leaked them. What’s the situation now ?

BTW, if any of you are interested in the mods I’ve accumulated, I can share my mod list (just tell me how). Maybe there are mods in there that are lost and cannot be found anymore.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the wall of text.

As @Peter Boese mentioned before, v1.80 isnt the latest stable version
Stable enough for me. I couldn't tell you the last time I had a crash or something weird happen. The only problem I ever run across is once in a blue moon the cars load with a weird red glow around them that i'm guessing is an issue with brake light emissives. I just exit and reload the session and they are gone. But that's like once a month maybe.

I suggest you start with organizing, updating, and pruning your current collection.
- What are the best places to get mods ? (is Assetto Land still around ?)
To get started:
Overtake (formerly RaceDepartment)
ACTK seems to be collecting mods like Assetto Land.
Breathe's track list
- What are the most essential mods to have ? (tracks, cars, others ?)

- Are there still some obscure places to look for ? (FB groups ? forums ?)
You can sort mods on Overtake by star rating and number of downloads. That should give you an idea of "essential" mods. Once you organize your collection, you can ask the community for specific cars and tracks that you're seeking. It can be time consuming to help catch you up after many years, especially if you're the hoarder type.

encrypted & physic from kunos

but test it https://sharemods.com/ws8jk6ty654z/ft_ferrari_288_gto.zip.html

Another issue fixed for me, and this one can pretty much **** up everything : i must have modified without paying attention the adaptive clip planes in the Graphic Adjustments, probably a few weeks ago. That explains some artifacts and glitches with any blur settings, and also some blurryness at close depth.

I brought them back to default values, and everything looks much much better. The trees are back to their middle range greenish mess, and that's all the better for me (i had almost comics drawings around the leaves on the edges, extremely disgraceful with the sky in the background).

I've reinstalled CSP, Cm and all. Wish me luck in my journey to make the game actually look better with latest CSP versions.

To join Brabham and Copersucar, here is the link to the two versions of the Tyrrell and Ferrari (1978) conversion (partial), working well, but still without tests with other cars of the same year for a more accurate BoP.

TYRRELL 008 / 1978
Early Season and Regular Season

FERRARI 312T3 / 1978
Spec1 / Spec2

Good list. I would add:

- Pessio Garage:

- Fuzo Workshop:

Reboot tracks:

Bazza modpacks:

Johnr tracks:

There are a lot of excellent track mods , you can find a lot in here Brno is a favourite of mine. As for cars RSS paid mods are IMHO the best mod cars in sim racing , the gt3s are phenomenal. Vrc lmdh protos are top tier too .

thats fine, could you provide the ext_config you made? I might be able to fix it
here the skin I made (it includes a upscaled BODYOA.dss which allows for metal_detail.dds to come through, and I also upscaled light.dds) , it's far from perfect but maybe takes you a step closer in the right direction.

it's a good 288 GTO mod imho , but anyone knows how to make the lights open when lights turned on? (now you need to do that with option B, but i would like to have the animation trigger simply when turning on the lights ...

[ANIMATION_...]
FILE=lights.ksanim
TIME=0.3
BIND_TO_EXTRA_B=1
TICK_TOCK_MODE=0
LOOP_KEEP_UNTIL_DONE=1
LOOP_WHILE_ACTIVE=0

It's very nice.
There's nothing inherently wrong with the Kunos version of exactly the same car, but this GT(7?) port offers some visual improvements, along with some downsides.
Positives: refractive lights; higher quality/more detailed model; more working gauges; better textures/shaders
Negatives: very dark cockpit; shifting animation clips through the gearstick; 3x the overall poly count; encrypted; LODs deactivated by default (suggesting they aren't great? - EDIT: yes, terrible)

Both cars seem to drive exactly the same due to the shared physics.

Looking forward to further GT ports from this chap. Hopefully unique cars that Kunos hasn't already covered.

I replaced "BIND_TO_EXTRA_B=1" with "BIND_TO_HEADLIGHTS=1" does what you need it seems.
You can also change the speed of the pop-up slightly, it seemed a little too fast based on this:

(excellent video, BTW - worth watching all the way through from the start)

Code:
[ANIMATION_...]
FILE=lights.ksanim
TIME=0.45 ;0.3
BIND_TO_HEADLIGHTS=1 ;BIND_TO_EXTRA_B=1
TICK_TOCK_MODE=0
LOOP_KEEP_UNTIL_DONE=1
LOOP_WHILE_ACTIVE=0

I was falling in the same trap as you seems to be in. Collecting lots of apps and mods that could be an interesting one day but actually I would never use. My statement is after every download do a test ride, not good delete it, keep your overview clear. Be aware sometimes a bad car mod can still be used as an historical correct grid filler.

For the rest if you like real old cars like me, check out:
Fat alfie tracks at Overtake site
Nicecupoftea prewar cars at Overtake
Historical Simracing Studios HSS
VELO
Perendinator
F40_LM_lover as can be found here

Despite all those hallelujah writings here and the not useful 5 star ranking at Overtake, keep in your mind, you can only decide what is good/bad on your specific hardware and use. So here you have to test it by yourself.

Just in case, while watching replays, your driver dissappears in the car, through certain angles...

Go to Settings, CSP, Graphics Adjustments, Tweaks & untick "draw driver after the car for external cameras".

I hope this helps someone.

thanks a lot for that pbr paint! looking a lot better now

Good morning.

I have just tested it, and both cars are working, as you can see on the sharp "Druids" curve at Brands Hatch.Check the CSP, I am using version (2.5).

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks very much for these nice looking additions. I have been enjoying your earlier Brabham as well, but I can't quite find your Copersucar; can you point me to it again? Thanks!
