no thanks, gumroad is better
Only for the uploader.

GTPlanet is better for the downloader. We don't require people to enter a "fair price" value and a "tip" value (both of which can be zero, in fairness) and while Gumroad requires an email address we don't require registration of any kind to download files. And it's one click, not several pages.

I guess it's whether you want people to play with your mod or whether you want them to jump through hoops and be fooled into paying for it.

it ain't a pay mod. You can enter any email address anyways

My opinion, I have used Gumroad MANY times to download mods and it was a breeeeze.

Nor did I say it was.

Yes, I know. It's still an additional step - and on page two of four - and along with having to enter a "fair price" and a "tip" (again, both of which can be zero), seems rather predatory.

I also just ran a bandwidth test and Gumroad's was half of GTPlanet's. And hey, GTPlanet Downloads is part of this community too.

Edit: Ope, had a network hiccup. It was less than a tenth; GTP's actually maxed out my download bandwidth (300Mbps). At 2.2MB/s (17.6Mbps), Gumroad wasn't even close...

I ain't changing (whether you like it or not)

Nothing is predatory on it (unless you're blind)

Who cares about bandwidth speeds anyway, we're not all computer geeks

Did I ask you to? I was recommending an easier, more accessible, more downloader-friendly resource for you use, and one which is actually part of this community on which you're posting.

Weird, weird response.

Requiring people to enter values (which can be zero) and email addresses (which can be fake) is predatory: it relies on tricking people into thinking they have to enter actual values - especially as the credit card info screen flashes up when you do so - and valid personal information. It's certainly more predatory than a one-click resource that requires you to enter nothing at all.
Who cares about bandwidth speeds anyway
Higher bandwidth (not speed) equals shorter time to download. Again, downloader-friendly.

You're posting game mods ripped from one game and modified for use in a second game on an internet forum...

Yeah. Just because I can get access to them doesn't mean I'll ALWAYS UPLOAD RIPPED MODELS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHERE I'M COMING FROM? YEAH, I DO LIKE COMPUTERS, BUT NOT ALL PEOPLE WHO MAKE MODS ARE GEEKS. I USE THEM BECUASE THEY ARE MORE ACCURATE THAN BUILT-FROM-THE-GROUND-UP MODELS.

Sincerely not waiting for a response,

Mandolph

Such a weird kickback on a recommendation for a resource built into the site that you're using that'll help you get your mod out to more people. Not sure why the yelling either.

Because have you seen all of the other modders (A la F302) porting models over from GT7 to AC. Thats fine for you, then when I try to make them, You point it out to me. ???Why???
I didn't say anything about the model whatsoever, and I don't care about it at all.

I saw your post where you said you'd run out of space on your Google Drive and wanted to host somewhere else, and recommended the resource literally built for that on this site. Why you've kicked off about that escapes me.

Why you even started this escapes my mind too. Just because I said I'm sticking with Gumroad made you go like a bull in a china shop.

I was trying to help you out with a convenient resource.

Not really. I pointed out the myriad reasons why GTPlanet's Downloads resource is more downloader-friendy than the one you chose after you said that the other one was better. It's definitely better for the uploader in one respect, but otherwise it fails a head-to-head comparison.

If you don't want to use the resource built into this site for your mods you're talking about on this site, that's up to you. I don't really know why there's all this fuss from your end, CAPITAL LETTER SHOUTING, weird things about not being a computer geek, and inventing stuff about the mod itself being relevant.

There is no helping some people.

. Do you want me to leave. Really?

Why are you being argumentative? A site admin simply offered an alternative source to upload your content. I'm now suspicious about your intent with gumroad if you cannot see that it is easier (less steps) for us to download from GTPlanet.

To be clear: I am NOT requiring or asking you to use GTPlanet.
I upload to Gumroad since more people know Gumroad to get mods from, unlike GTPlanet which might have easier steps but in the long run more people will get the mod on Gumroad. All of my mods will be free anyways. (Always unencrypted!)

Reading this page gave me a headache. I have to lie down for a little bit. Hopefully when I return things won't be so purple and bolded or capitalized. :)
good one, I agree, sorry about the inconvenience

Despite all those hallelujah writings here and the not useful 5 star ranking at Overtake, keep in your mind, you can only decide what is good/bad on your specific hardware and use. So here you have to test it by yourself.

The 5 star ranking in itself isn't very good but if you filter by 'user ranking' in any category on Overtake it is pretty good, takes quantity of rankings into account too.

In both case (Gumroad and GTP) you need to provide a link to end user, so both have the same visibility once you share the links.
And searching thru Gumroad isnt very "user intuitive"...

Dont shout at me :nervous:
